"Manager" Glenda doesn't think this is proof the transaction went through.

Rarely ever leave Yelp Reviews but my visit on 10/11/25 absolutely warrants it. The Manager Glenda and the employee with the tan skin, jet black hair and combover are very rude, unskilled employees. My review is based off experience with Glenda and the other unnamed employee. For background, I have donated to this location and spent thousands of dollars here. I know most of the employees and engage in conversation when I come in. The male mentioned earlier took my payment via Apple Pay. I saw an approved notice pop up. Following that, he says a receipt didn't print and I have to pay again. I refused, showing him the payment having gone through on my bank account. He continues to argue with me and then Glenda steps in. I show her the charge on my Apple Pay and let her look at my transaction history, in which she STILL believes the transaction never went through since a receipt didn't print. I asked her for my merchandise and she refused to release it to me. I was shopping with my Dad nearby and had him come in to see if another person explaining would get my PAID MERCHANDISE released. This time, I called my bank and put Glenda on the phone with my bank who told her the charge DID GO THROUGH. Glenda got loud with all of us. At one point, she got aggressive waving her hands in our faces and ordering my Dad not to talk. Maybe she thinks she is a Judge? We told her what she is doing is fraudulent and she just says "ok". I truly think she must have some sort of incapacity. If the customer, the receipt, and the bank's confirmation are not enough to believe the customer paid for the items, something is very wrong. Side note: On prior trips to the store, I've witnessed her raising her voice at other employees in the back room. They leave the door to that room partially open during store hours. Clearly, professionalism is not in her nature. I am still waiting for my money back or the release of my paid merchandise. In the meantime, highly recommend supporting Bloom in San Rafael and sending donations to a place where staff are kind and your items will help style those entering new careers.

And when I do, I'll hit three stores in Marin: the Goodwill in Novato, the Goodwill in San Rafael, and the Salvation Army in San Rafael.

Clothes all over the ground, every single isle, while also being kicked around cleaning their filthy floors. Even more staff today and still a mess? Too many staff trying to look busy. Everything's kind of mushed together as far as all the different types of clothing. Anything somewhat decent way over priced. A very small glass Tupperware container $7.99? It's not a nice thrift store at all anymore. Hire staff that actually work. Huge line while three staff are teaching a new person to use the one other register? The comment from SA about my complaint, didn't match my concerns at all?? Weird as if they didn't read it at all? This place is an overpriced junk store. Why so many clothes on the ground every time I've gone. I'm always hoping they'll clean up a bit, but it just gets worse! It's for a good cause, but you'd make more of a profit if it wasn't so junky and dirty! This store has all new staff, but it's the worst it's ever been!

The employees never say anything in particular but they look beaten down and it's clear the management is either creating or tolerating some negative environment. The turnover for employees is fast! The housewares section is dismal, very overprice. I agree it seems the good things must be being sold to pickers on the side or sent elsewhere. This is a wealthy area yet what comes in is generally very worn or low quality. Organization has gone downhill and racks are stuffed in there now. No decor and it seems dirty. It's my last choice these days.

I first shopped at Savers when I lived in Phoenix, AZ, and I've been a huge fan for over 10 years. Everything is donation-based (obviously), so what's available will always vary. PROS: When I went, they had a ton of great options for clothes and shoes!! My cart was full of jeans, dresses (both casual and dressy), statement jackets, and unique tops. I ended up spending $50 and walked away with two pairs of jeans, a long jean skirt, a knit shawl, overalls (which are hard to find in my size), and a couple of tops. There were a few items I wanted to keep soooo bad, but they were $20+ and I wanted to stay on budget. CON: Very, very, very messy and unorganized. This definitely isn't the employees' fault -- they're working as fast as they can -- but so many shoppers pick things up and put them back in random places. My advice is to check all rack sizes in both clothing and shoes. For example, I found a women's 8.5 Hoka in the men's section, though it was priced at $49 (a little steep for me). Hope this helps -- best of luck thrifting!!!!

That is crazy! Those people should be kicked out of the store. That is like harassment. My fiance and I were in that store recently. I saw the guy when I was coming out of the bathroom - which is pretty clean by the way, but there is no door to enter the actual room the stalls are in. That seems dangerous to me. Anyways this dude looked like trouble, I looked at him made eye contact and kept walking. Then later in the store near the shoes he walked up to an older lady and asked her to buy him a coat because he didn't have any money. I don't think that is appropriate. He should go to the Savers people and ask them. I observed and the lady declined and he walked away. This is not something I am willing to deal with every time I come into the store. The Savers in Orange County and the bay area, San Jose and Redwood City do not have such troubles. I haven't found anything in that store that I purchased. So, I will not be back. The staff is ok, there are not many mirrors, no dressing rooms, and just a really sketchy area. I am disappointed this wasn't a better store. I was really looking forward to it! I just recalled, when this store first opened we visited it. It was so much cleaner, brighter, and there were not random unhoused people harassing the shoppers. We actually purchased 3 sports coats for my fiance which were a great deal for some nice coats. I hope maybe one day they will get security who can help filter through who enters the store or at least be aware when one is acting inappropriately. I see someone in a different post mentioned Ross. I agree Linda B. I end up at Ross and get new items at better prices than that Savers, and there is not anyone in there asking me to buy them anything! They have security and a great team. Thanks for reading. I would absolutely advise stay away from this Savers. It is really gross and unpredictable.

Dear Salvation Army Management-…read more I have been a loyal customer of your store for years and have always enjoyed shopping for myself and my children. During my visit yesterday, I was shocked to see that dresses which previously cost $12.99 now have mixed prices ranging from $29.99 to $55.99 or more. This is a drastic increase of over 300%, and it completely changes the experience of affordable thrifting that I and many others have relied on. I was especially surprised to see items like Wild Fable sweatpants--brand-name clothing from Target for kids and teens and young adults--being sold for $6.99 which feels unreasonable for used clothing. Previously, finding affordable items like these was part of the appeal of your store. Now, these prices are comparable to--or even higher than--what you would pay retail, making it difficult for families on a budget to shop. I also noticed that standard pricing signage has been removed, leaving only the "color of the day" sale tags. While I understand promotional sales, the removal of regular pricing combined with these significant increases is confusing and disappointing. I have donated items to this location in the past, but after seeing these changes, I will have to rethink whether I continue dropping things off here. Stores like the Salvation Army have always been valued for making clothing affordable and accessible to the community, and I hope you will reconsider this pricing strategy to maintain that mission.
