We've been coming here since my son was about 1 (he's almost 2 now), and it's been the best experience. From the first visit, the focus was on making the lil one feel comfortable, and the whole office is so fun. Books and fun distractions in the waiting room, and cool toys (and stickers!) in the exam rooms. Every single person who works there is kind, professional, and a total delight. I always leave in a good mood, and so does my son. And beyond how fun and warm they are, the care itself is excellent. They're knowledgeable, thoughtful, and great at explaining things in a way that makes you feel informed and supported. I also LOVE how easy they make it for you to make appointments - if you can't call, you can text to book a regular checkup or even a same-day appointment (which we've needed more than once because my son's favorite hobby is falling on his face). The whole team there is simply the BEST! Our two young kids both have moderate autism and Dr. Aghi and her staff know just how use positivity, praise, an interest in them, and prizes to elicit their cooperation! We tried going to a different dentist in the East Bay, who takes our insurance and who says they have a specialty in special needs kids, but the staff was only focused on completing their tasks and not on building rapport or encouraging consent. Neither of my kids were able to complete x rays there and my daughter didn't let them to any teeth cleaning. She sobbed so hard through the exam that it took her 30 minutes to become calm again. And my son felt bad after the visit from being criticized and acted out once home. They had no "tricks" to get cooperation. We decided that Dr. Aghi and her team are the ONLY place our kids should be, and willingly pay out of pocket in order to do so. Marin Pediatric is really wonderful! The front office is very friendly and comfortable for kids. My son loves to play with all their games in the waiting area. He even likes to stay after his appointment and keep playing. The staff is very nice and informative. Marin Pediatric Dentistry is a GREAT place to take your kids. The staff is friendly, accommodating, and they understand what the experience can be like for both kids and parents alike - i.e. not easy. I have two daughters, ages 2 and 5. The staff is friendly and does their best to make them feel comfortable and at home - it's not easy to get kids to sit still, let alone in a dentist chair while putting tools in their mouths. They toe the line perfectly between getting the job done (i.e. teeth cleaned and mouth checked) with not pushing so far that it would create a traumatic experience. Here's a quick story that shows the care they provide. I took my oldest daughter there a year ago; she's very shy and reserved. She wasn't able to sit in the chair and have the electric tools put in her mouth, but the staff was able to look in her mouth, confirm that nothing problematic was happening, and send us on our way. The staff incentivized my daughter with a stuffed toy - if she came back on her next visit and successfully had her teeth clean, she would receive it. We came back today, 9 months later, and they still had the toy set aside and waiting for her...and they remembered her. That's as personal of a touch as we could possibly hope for. read more

We love this dentist's office for our girls. Our oldest had major anxiety before switching to Dr. A and once they had a session together I could see her really relax. They have a trusting relationship and now our oldest has had many pain-free extractions (wiggled them out in Aghi parlance). I had no idea that a first dental appointment for a two year old could be so easy. Marin Pediatric Dentistry is extremely well-stocked with kid-friendly accessories that I couldn't have even imagined. The waiting room, which includes a wall-size lite brite, was fun enough to keep my toddler occupied for hours--although we only waited about two minutes. When we walked back to the treatment area, we saw shelves of books and stuffed animals. Kids are encouraged to choose something to bring to the chair--mine chose a big Peanuts book. And little touches like a seahorse on a dental tool help engage young children. The dental hygienist was so skilled at working with children. My daughter was so comfortable with her that she felt curious about rather than scared of the dental tools. Dr. Aghi also put her entirely at ease. The out-of-pocket costs are a bit pricy. I still go to my old dentist in Connecticut, who charges less than half the out-of-pocket rate for an adult cleaning. But this might just be a regional thing, as everything in Marin is more expensive. read more

After a number of visits in 2020, my 7-year old's previous dentist identified 4 cavities late last year. Due to my daughter's acute fear of dental treatments, her (now former) dentist indicated that the only option was to treat her under general anesthesia, which was not an acceptable option for us. Luckily, a friend recommended that we see doctor Aghi. I have no words to express the wonders she accomplishes and the magic she beams. My daughter was (past tense because it has changed thanks to doctor Aghi) by all means a difficult dental patient, terrorized by fear. But doctor Aghi worked out a plan to not only treat her teeth but also to cure her from her fears. At this point, we have had several appointments with doctor Aghi. My daughter's behavior has noticeably changed from being acutely fearful of dentists to asking when she was going to see doctor Aghi again. Frankly, I don't think anyone else would have been able to accomplish that in such a short time or at all. It took incredible technical and human skills and a lot of patience and perseverance on doctor Aghi's part. She's a brilliant dentist but more importantly, she deeply cares about her little patients. This practice is wonderful. I tried 2 other pediatric dentists before I found Dr. Aghi. Not only was she amazing with my daughter, she was thorough with the explanation and the process. I was allowed to stay in the room and hold my daughter's hand. The staff is well-trained and a few of them have been there for 25+ years. The vibe is calming and everyone is friendly. My insurance is a pain, but they made every effort to check with my insurance and let me know how much my portion was. She really has a special way with kids. We absolutely love Dr. Aghi and her staff. She is incredibly warm and extremely competent. My kids never feel stressed about going to the dentist, even if they have a cavity. I can't recall ever hugging my dentist but somehow I always feel compelled to hug Dr. Aghi. I guess it's because I have so much gratitude for how she treats my kids with such kindness. Same goes for her team, especially Valencia. She always takes the time to talk with my kids and ask them about their life, all while managing to get their teeth sparkling clean. She never shames them for not staying on top of flossing etc but rather empowers them to want to take better care and how to do it. Words can not express my gratitude for Dr. Aghi and the entire staff. My daughter started dentistry with developmental differences. She had an adversity to opening her mouth to allow, even me, to brush her teeth. She has a small mouth, gag reflex and started this process with a speech delay, making basic routine care at home a challenge. Unfortunately, my daughters aversion caused her to need an aggressive treatment plan, when I brought her in for her initial care. Fortunately, my adolescent boys had already had years of great care with Dr. Aghi and her team. Therefore, I already personally experienced with their ability to emotionally provide a positive, stress free environment for the boys and knowledge of their top-notch dentistry. My daughter is now almost eight and had her check-up and X-rays last week. Dr. Aghi greeted her and asked if she was ready to go with her. My daughter looked at me told me...I got this! She had a huge smile on her face and said, I will ask them to get you if I need you. She felt safe and proud to walk back with Dr. Aghi and she made it through the entire appointment and radiated pride all day. I am literally writing this review with gratitude and tears of joy! Honestly, this staff fells more like family then a business practice. My boys were happy to visit the office through adolescents. They were greeted with cheers of support and inspired about their desires for the future. They mentored my little to conquer a huge obstacle. I was so nervous to take my daughter for her first dentist appointment as she is super sensitive and I was expecting huge meltdowns. We had the complete opposite experience from what I envisioned. Dr. Aghi is a life-saver. My two-year old nephew was visiting from Houston and while we were at the zoo, he he fell and broke his front tooth. My brother is a dentist himself and we reached out to friends who urged us to call Dr. Aghi. As soon as we contacted her office, the staff was super nice and worked really hard to fit us in that same day. During the same time, they checked our insurance and confirmed that it would all be covered. Upon arrival, they checked us in and calmed the little guy down. Her office is a kid-heaven and we played with toys until it was his turn. Dr. Aghi is incredible with kids and my brother was super impressed (keep in mind he himself sees kids at his office but isn't a peds specialist). She explained all of our options to us and treated him like a CHAMP. We were out of there in less than two hours and we were back to doing touristy things. All in all, Dr. Aghi is amazing and comes highly recommended by an uncle, a mother, a father, but most importantly another dentist. I don't have kids yet, and I hope my nephew never has to go to a dentist like this again, but since our visit, I've been recommending her to all of my friends with children. I brought my two daughters (ages 8 and 9) to Dr. Aghi for the first time and I have nothing but outstanding things to say about the practice. The front office staff were so courteous and helpful. They made sure we had everything taken care of ahead of the appointment (forms, insurance coverage, health questionnaire etc.). The dental assistants took such great care of my girls. They explained how to properly brush, floss and care for their teeth. It was really impressive to hear my girls repeat everything later on in the week. They now show me how well they brushed by using the disclosing solution. Flossing is not the same now that they know why they are doing it. One of my daughters needed to have a baby tooth removed and she was so nervous about it. Dr. Aghi made her feel 100% comfortable and took such great care of her that my daughter never flinched or felt uncomfortable at any time. The tooth was out in a couple of minutes (for the numbing medicine to work) and I was surprised at how easy she made it happen. Dr. Aghi is so comforting and made the removal seem like an afterthought which is exactly what my daughter needed. Both of my girls rave about Dr. Aghi. They are both looking forward to going back in 6 months. Worth every effort to make it out to San Rafael for us (we live in SF). We recently moved to the area and brought our 3 girls in for "check up" for 12 year old daughter, and "first visits" for my 5 year old twins. We couldn't be happier with the attention our kids got, and the overall experience. All 3 girls left with no anxiety episodes. They always explained what they were going to do, and included the kids in the action. Its such a relief as a parent, to see such wonderful experiences when it comes to dentist and doctor visits. Dr Aghi, and Valencia are super ultra stars when it comes to making sure the kids are comfortable. One of my twins even said, "can we come back to the dentist soon?" I had to laugh, but the context of that question says a lot. It was that fun of an experience for a 5 year old. There are plenty of pediatric dentists much closer to where we live, but we've been dedicated fans of Dr. Rayman and now Dr. Aghi for nearly a decade and will happily go out of our way to see them. We switched from Dr. Gila's office in Larkspur to Dr. Aghi's office when my then 3 year old needed cavities filled. I knew we were in good hands when Dr. Aghi called me, while she was at home, to discuss her treatment plan. After a couple of visits to get her cavities filled (the most recent was this morning), my now 4.5 year old still loves going to see Dr. Aghi and the entire staff!
