Today was a new beginning in my son's experience of dental care. My son (9 years old) needed some dental work done and he had been scared for many months about this procedure. He has had a bad experience in his younger years with a different dentist and it was challenging to even just get him in for a tooth cleaning. Dr Gila and her team worked their magic. Included in today's team was Aspen, Dr Gila's gentle and sweet therapy dog, a Golden Retriever. Aspen jumped right onto the treatment table and laid down next to my son, with her head on his belly. My son kept touching Aspen throughout the treatment and he was the most relaxed I had ever seen him. It was with awe that I saw my son's confidence growing with regards to this treatment, and when it was time to jump off the table he was the most joyful and happy boy. Later today my son asked me when he could come back for his next treatment to see Dr Gila and Aspen again. I can't emphasize enough how amazed I am by Dr Gila and her team. They really go above and beyond to make sure our children get the best care possible. There isn't any other place on this planet I would go to for my child's dental care, and I don't say this lightly, given that I have experienced many wonderful dentists world wide including Sydney, Germany, Sweden, Rome and several places throughout California. We love Dr Gila. Then entire staff is simply lovely. Dr Gila does a great job explaining to parents what's going on with your child's dental health. Very thorough and easy to follow. The office is pleasant for the patient and the parent. WiFi. Videos in the ceiling. All the right tools for pediatric dentistry to help minimize discomfort. Dr. Gila is WONDERFUL! She and her team have created the perfect environment for children to visit the dentist. I have three children. Two have had cavities and both had their teeth drilled in Dr. Gila's office. And neither are afraid of the dentist as a result. Dr. Gila has a gentile hand, keeps her environment stress free, treats the children with respect and really listens to them, she uses cutting edge technology (a big plus if you have ever visited a dentist who does not), and we could not be happier with her! I said no to dental x-rays for my 3 and 4 year-old children. Dr. Dorokstar grilled me about why I wasn't comfortable with x-rays and then asked why I had come to the dentist at all if I wasn't interested in following the advice of the dentist. I am a customer who paid $340 for two children to have their teeth cleaned (and that was without x-rays!) and I left feeling disrespected and stressed. I am interested in making wise decisions for my family. if we had even one reason to consider x-rays (genetic dental history with any problems) or if the check-up showed reason to look further, then I would be happy to consider them. I will wait until my children are not toddlers before I put any amount of preventative care radiation into their bodies. I was surprised and disappointed that a Bay Area dentist (and a mother herself, I think) was so insensitive and pushy about a personal decision. The hygienists were great and made my children feel very comfortable during their cleaning. My kids were happy with their experience. read more

We love this office and are so grateful to them! Our two daughters have been going for years - both started there when there were about year old. Going to the dentist is just an amazing experience for them - the office is lovely, the staff is warm and kind and we rarely ever wait (although the kids love being in the waiting room because of the books and toys). The dental hygienists, X-ray techs and other assistants are always smiling, warm and *gentle* with the kids. The dentists are all lovely and spend a lot of time talking through any issues and answering questions. We have seen Dr. Cecily the most often and just adore her, but we have also worked with and love Dr. Megan and Dr. Gila as well. I was especially grateful to the office and staff several weeks ago when my daughter fell and hit her mouth/upper lip at school. Her teeth looked knocked in and were loose and her upper gums were cut and bleeding; as soon as I saw the extent of the injury, I panicked a bit. I called the office right away and the staff was calm, helpful and responsive. They got an appointment for us right away and Dr. Megan examined her and did X-rays. Even though they saw us amidst having regularly scheduled patients, we never felt rushed; everyone was so lovely and reassuring and patiently answered all of my questions. And even though my daughter had been hysterical after the accident, she calmed at the office and ended up having a great time (when she came home excitedly told her little sister about watching a movie on the TV screen in the ceiling, getting "pictures of my teeth" and getting a little toy ball afterward!). We could not have hoped for a better experience and I will be forever grateful for how much the helped my daughter and me. read more

Dr. Dorokstar is the consummate medical professional. Her "bedside" manner is outstanding - she is professional, personal, and sensitive to children and their parents. She has impressed me by clearly explaining in "easy to understand" terms about our child's hygiene, brushing habits, and recommendations. Most importantly, her caring and concern about her patients is also exceptional. In addition, she is very respectful of patient privacy - she accompanied me to a private area away from the waiting room to discuss our daughter's dental assessment. In addition, her offices are very clean, comfortable, and conducive for waiting - nice coffee machine, good chairs for sitting. Finally, I was particularly impressed by the office staff - when scheduling an appointment, the office staff reviewed our insurance for coverage eligibility 6 month vs twice yearly cleaning coverage. This could potentially determine if the coverage is different according to the intervening "calendar days." This could save us a significant amount of money. This is truly exceptional - I cannot recall another medical office where the staff seeks to maximize the insurance benefits for the patient with a proactive attention to these details. Kudos to Dr. Dorokstar and her office staff for achieving this level of professionalism, service, and care! read more

Hands down! The absolute best experience I've EVER had at a dentist office! First of all, the Office is gorgeous, very warm & inviting, very kid friendly, did not feel like a "dentist " office. We were greeted immediately by an amazingly friendly and happy group of ladies, that made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Our previous experiences with the dentist has been quit scary for my 8yr old, to the point of her having extreme anxiety and not being able to get the work she so desperately needs done, resulting in a severe infection. I've been at a loss as to what I can do to help my daughter and As soon as we stepped into this office I knew we were at the right place! The assistant's and Dr. Gila went way above and beyond to make sure my daughter was comfortable. Dr. Gila was very thorough and so gentle!! These ladies know what they are doing! And they changed my daughters whole perspective on the "dentist" in 1 visit!! Amazing!! She not only assessed the severity of my daughters infection, but also went out of her way to find an oral surgeon that could take care of her as soon as possible. She got us an immediate appt with an oral surgeon that day! And between the two of them, we were able to get her in and taken care of that following morning!! This place was like a dream come true, I can't express in words how great this whole experience was for my daughter and I. This office & staff are amazing! We saw Dr Megan for our 1st appt. We have a 3.5 yo daughter that is always on the move. When we arrived, the office was beautiful and totally made for kiddos. There is a Golden Gate Bridge book nook and a lego table for the kids while they wait. The staff were all very welcoming and sweet with my little girl. The dental hygienist we saw was awesome too...you can just tell they deal with kids ALL DAY LONG and are good at it and understanding. The hygienist as well as Dr Megan explained everything before they did it and in ways that a 3 year old can understand. They have stickers and a huge gumball style glass filled with small bouncy balls that they get a token for at the end of the visit!! The best part was the TVs in the ceiling to help distract the kiddos with 3 movie choices. This, however surprising, did not keep my wiggly child still so in walks Dr Dorostkar with her therapy dog ASPEN. What an angel this dog is. She literally laid right beside my child on the chair as she got her teeth cleaned. As we have a choc lab at home and a dog lover...this made my little girls day. She still is talking about the dentist!!! I cannot say enough great things about this place and their AMAZING STAFF! read more

This dental practice is top notch. The professionals here have executed a thoughtfully designed, parent -child friendly, state of the art environment. Most importantly, each individual at this practice seems to truly enjoy their work. My child needed a filling and an extraction-which was complicated by the fact she had recently suffered a broken arm and was feeling very vulnerable. Dr. Gila exhibited a level of patience, professionalism and expertise that went above and beyond in every step of her treatment of my daughter. The hygenist, who does all the work getting the child comfortable with what is happening, was awesome and the doctor who checked-in at the end was nice, too. Dr. Dorostkar and her team are wonderful! The associate doctors, the front desk staff, and the office manager Debra have all been kind, welcoming, and helpful. The office is gorgeous and clean. As for he 2-star review, I don't understand why anyone would decline dental x-rays for their child - the only way to do a thorough oral health assessment is with x-rays, because the doctor can only see 1/3 of the entire tooth with just a visual exam. A person is exposed to more x-ray radiation flying from SFO to LA than by having dental x-rays taken. If you are going to decline dental x-rays for fear of radiation, you should also make a commitment never to let your children travel by air. read more

My son has an array of complex dental situations. They have required treatments under anesthesia which our other family dentist who is great doesn't offer. Dr Dorostkar has helped stabilize my sons conditions over the years and has linked us to other great ancillary professionals. She is the utmost professional, bright, thorough. It is always a pleasant experience. The staff is friendly upbeat kid-centric. My Family Dentist referred me to Dr. Gila after he had trouble with a filling on my son's tooth. I didn't realize that Pediatric Dentists have more training with kids then Family Dentists, otherwise I would have gone here in the first place. Dr. Gila is amazing!
