I used to love this clinic, and was a long-term client, for at least 25 years. They had a great Doctor, and staff, who really cared. But it has changed over the last few years. Now, the "newer" staff is not well-trained, and they don't have ability to get to know the clients, and LISTEN, and understand them. They could have looked my file up, to see, that I was a long-term client, and always good with my pets, and brought them in for many years, (including other people's pets, that I brought in, simply because they needed it!) But, some new young female "doctor" looked at my cat, and because he was obese: (BECAUSE of being 12 years old, and not active, and had always been the "fattest" one, out of his entire family, and, regardless of the diets, and diet foods, he had steadily been putting on the weight...!) She decided that he couldn't be treated for his other health problems, and loose the weight, UNLESS I GAVE HIM UP!! Because, in HER OPINION, it was ONLY MY FAULT, that he was fat, and therefore, I was not a good owner, and he needed to be "rescued", and taken away from me!! I have known MANY people with extremely fat pets, mostly because they were elderly!! But, I never expected to be accused, and blamed, and harassed, for over an hour-- to "give him up" to them, so they can do the medical, and diet, and whatever he needs. If they CARED, AT ALL, about the cat, or my feelings, or HIS feelings, they would have sent him home to his family, and all his brothers, sisters, and other pets, that LOVE HIM SO MUCH, and HE LOVED ALL OF THEM, and would MISS ALL OF THEM, as well, so his heart would be breaking, about never seeing his family, again!! (He had been with them for over 12 years, without a minute of being separated from them. He even slept with our dogs, and the dogs, loved to clean and groom him, every day. They were inseparable!! Don't you think his heart would break, after I left, and couldn't come back and take him home?! He would be so miserable, being in a cage, ignored, and taken away from everyone he loved so much! I know he was probably heart-broken. But they said I couldn't get the treatment for his intestinal problems, or the diet, if I took him home, and I was badgered into making the decision, for his own good....??! Now, I know that was wrong!! Some other Vet would have tried to discuss it, and find a way for me to do it, no matter what it cost, or what I had to do, (I WOULD HAVE DONE IT!!) But, they wouldn't give me the choice! I'm sorry that I listened to them, because it probably made my cat suffer emotionally, and hurt him, beyond repair, to make him stay there, and do what they wanted. He should have gone home with me, where I could have taken him to a caring Vet, who would have LISTENED to my worries, and what I needed, for my cat, instead of just ASSUMING, and FORCING a different thing on me, based on their crazy assumptions, and trying to make me out to be a bad owner!! Maybe if they had LISTENED, and given me a chance, to talk with them, about what would be better for him, it could have been different. I'm ALWAYS going to regret going to them, and I'll NEVER make that mistake, again!! read more
