I won a national essay writing contest sponsored by a national daily a few years back, and part of my prize was Php 10,000 worth of gift certificates at Marina.
Needless to say, I spent many meals in this restaurant, specifically their SM MOA branch, trying to spend all those GCs. My family and friends are only too happy to join me, of course.
I'm an Ilongga, and I love seafood. Marina actually originated in Iloilo, so my meals here became quite a trip down memory lane. And because our meals were for "free", we got to sample a lot of items on their menu.
They have some of my old hometown favorites like Laswa na KBL (Kadyos, Baboy, Langka), Lucon (prawns!!!) and Talabang Ilonggo (that's oysters for you!). Those were the ones I ordered repeatedly. Also, they have Filipino staples like Crispy Pata, Lechon Kawali, and Marina Fried Chicken. Their Pansit Guisado is delicious, as well.
If you want to experience Ilonggo hospitality and cuisine, but can't fly to Iloilo yet, this is a good place to start. Kaon na! read more
