He's always encouraging and motivating and pushes you to be your best. He greets everyone he encounters, and knows everyone's name. This Norwalk location is the flagship gym, and the first to open of the three locations. I've worked out at all locations, and they are great. All of the trainers are fantastic humans! They have the best energy, play great music, and train us very well. I seriously haven't met a trainer I didn't like. Actually, I take that back. When I first started, there was a crazy trainer, but he didn't last and I never saw him again. That's one the best things about SUF, they'll get rid of bad energy and focus on the good. I've joined every weight loss program, gym, boot camp, out there... you name it, I've tried it. None have ever compared to the quality of SUF. I've never been so successful at losing weight, gaining muscle, losing inches, losing fat, in my life! In one year of consistent workouts and counting calories and macros, I've lost over 40 lbs and kept it off. I've dropped 8 dress sizes and it keeps dropping! The difference with SUF and any other program I've done, is that the people care. Not just the employees, but the like-minded friends I've made. Everyone is there, cheering you on, when you think you can't possibly lift any heavier, squat any lower, they're all there, cheering you on. It's amazing! If you join the Elite program, you get access to a nutritionist, or food police, as we call her, who helps you figure out what to eat and what not to eat. The gym also offers a food prep service and it's also amazing! I used it my first 3 months there, until I got the hang of it and was able to prep on my own. At the end of the day, YOU, are accountable for your own being, and YOU, have to want it, in order to stay focused and determined. But, I will tell you, the amount of support you get at Straight Up Fitness, is unlike any other around. Worth every penny, if you a Reach out with questions, and I'll happily answer, from my own experience. If you're in search of looking your best and feeling your best, ever, come to SUF. You will not be disappointed. Trust the process.

But be aware of his true feelings about overweight people per his email: The following email sent Michael@straightupfitness.com from @StraightUpFitness and its owner Michael Duivis on October 11, 2022 at 9:34:03 AM PDT "Every time I see overweight realtors win 'awards' for how much they sold, I can't help but think... 'They could've done so much better'. If you're fat overweight, blood flow is being restricted throughout your body. Especially in your brain. This messes with your decision making and mood control. Imagine these realtors quit the El Pollo Loco and Portos. Start tracking calories. Less wine. Less mixers. 10k steps a day." They'd lose weight Their mood & mental clarity would go up. And they'd become the 'top producer' among 'top producers', collecting all those awards-that-look-like-Oscars. Now I know most realtors don't need help (they're doing good already, in their BMW's, red bottoms, etc). But if I'm listing my house. And all else is equal. I'm going with the one that's in shape. How you show up is half the battle. And that's regardless of what you do for a living." These comments are utterly despicable. Listen, I get it. You line your pockets by encouraging people to become healthier and lose weight. I do not disagree with that goal. I myself am on that road. But to demean people's intelligence and insinuate that those of us that are obese are unsuccessful, have poor judgment, and suffer uncontrollable mood swings is not the way to attract people to your business. Plus you just exude the same ugly hate that bigots spew. Replace "in shape" in your statement with white, straight, male, or whatever category you want and it just demonstrates why society continues to be plagued by hate. If anything, this email shows is that you Mr. Duivis have the poor judgment. And before you go dismissing me as some bitter fat guy, I'd like you to know that I managed to graduate college with honors, did an internship at The White House, studied at Oxford University in England, graduated from law school, passed the California state bar exam, have traveled to over 50 countries, have hosted a radio show for the last two decades. and have been helping the marginalized of the world for the last twenty years as an attorney. And I did all of that weighing well north of 300 lbs. And I am proud of all I have done and who I am, every single 475 pounds of it! And like me there are many many successful overweight people out there, like Southern California's very own Gabriel Iglesias

Most broken down gym equipment gets fixed pretty quick and the lockers(with showers)/restrooms are clean, nice, and spacious. They offer $1 gym towels in case you forget to bring one and have free basketballs to use in exchange for your gym ID. This is where my first complaint comes in though; their customer service area is pretty much non-existant. I've stood in plain sight waiting to be tended to and have had to wait 5-10 minutes, even when the employees are up front doing next to nothing (scanning IDs). My second complaint doesn't have to do with complex, but the members who utilize the gym. There is always groups of women who take up cardio machines for longer than 25 machines yapping on and on (rules state only 20 minutes per session). And the minute they do get off, they hand the machines to their other friends. It becomes very frustrating at times and has me considering joining a private gym. I suppose it's faults come with the $36.50 for 3 months price tag. It's been a great experience, but I'm afraid it's starting to sour on me with how small the gym is and people continually joining.

From day one, Armando made me feel comfortable, supported, and capable. His level of compassion, patience, and genuine interest in his clients is truly admirable. To me though, what stands out most is how much he cares. He doesn't just guide your workouts; he invests in your success. Armando is knowledgeable, trustworthy, and incredibly kind, and he creates an environment that's both motivating and safe to grow in -- which I've grown to really appreciate it.
