I've been a customer of this bank for some time, and no wonder. This bank is a big deal! I know…read morealmost all the staff and never have to worry about being recognized when I walk through the door. The staff goes above and beyond, as exampled by this experience with Jordan, Assistant General Manager in La Crosse: I brought to Trevor, the initial associate I encountered, my check to cash, written to me on the account of another bank, representing the remaining balance on an automobile purchase; so, an amount that I was eager to obtain immediately. Trevor was truthful, informing that I could deposit the check with a one- or more-day hold, pending verification of funds: standard precautionary procedure. I've known Jordan since day one of my association with Citizens State Bank. Trevor took my check matter to Jordan, who elaborated on the reason for the hold: bad checks and overdrafts, me left holding the bank bag, all that sort of thing. In desperation (I know he felt it in me), I meekly suggested phoning the issuing bank to verify funds available with a simple phone call, which to my great relief he did for me! Having obtained that verification, he was able to authorize immediate release of the funds. I couldn't have asked for better nor more expeditious service, and doubtless could not at any other financial institution have received it. To say the least, I salute the attention that the staff in La Crosse has paid not only my feeble attempts at banking, but to me as a customer. Cash to coffee (perhaps someday I may be able to say 'dollars to donuts'?), this Citizens State Bank puts out the welcome mat for customer satisfaction.

I moved away from La Crosse decades ago but have been a customer of State Bank forever. Why?…read more Because of people like Justin Reineking. Justin and his staff are the consumate professionals. Over the last year I have been subjected to three cyberattacks, along with the usual scams, spams, etc. we all receive. Fraud is growing, whether we like it or not and it is imperative we have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to protect ourselves from these nefarious actors. My most recent cyberattack was generated through my employer health insurance and was very convincing. So I did what I always do when I have questions involving my finances, I called Justin's office, on a Friday evening. Early Monday morning he called me back, reviewed my situation in exquisite detail and provided me with the reassurance I knew he would give me. Even though I no longer live in the La Crosse area I feel safe knowing that State Bank Financial and people like Justin Reineking will be there, protecting me and my assets. Thank you for being the truly wonderful banker that you are.

Staff pleasant, knowledgeable, kind, professional. I've noticed they're welcoming to everyone who walks in the door, AND remembers their names. I have lately had need to put one of the bankers to a lot of work, and he's been great. I love the LaX team and hope soon to call on them for more services.

They are stuffing their mouths with food (Copeland), while I'm waiting in line. Just an unpleasant experience. So when it's my turn, the dark-haired teller has her mouth full (a lot).... Really? I have tried to find out why this bank wants to alienate itself from its older cliental. For years…read moreI have done almost all my banking and getting my account information through their automated phone system. In the last 4-5 years this bank's IT team has made this banking system impossible to use. I have a line of credit that if I used it, I would use the automated phone service to pay it back. Over the last few years the IT department made it so that you can not do this anymore. The first change in the automated system took out the interest which was due on your overdraft amount. So you had to be on hold until someone got all your info, told you that amount and made the transaction. Then the IT department would not allow you to completely pay down the overdraft owed without a customer service rep completing the transaction. After you are on hold, go through giving all your account info so they can get in to your account. Now there is no option to transfer any money within your own account to pay anything on your overdraft. So once again, you get put on hold, then the customer service person would put you on hold again so you can get a person qualified to do this transaction. I have brought this to the attention of 3 different branch managers and a customer service manager on the phone. Here is the lip service I got each time. QUOTE I, the person I told this to will forward this to the proper people to get back to you to try and make your banking experience better. This update was to come from their IT department. 3 years later and no response, not even an acknowledgement that they care and I tell the customer service person I have had it being on the phone for 25 minutes to do a 1 minute transaction. A customer service manager calls me back yelling at me about respect and to take whatever business at ALTRA I have and get out. LEAVE! where does he get off looking for respect when this bank could care less about its senior citizen bankers who have brought on ongoing problem to their attention. This fool does not have a clue of what his automatic banking system does and does not do anymore. If you want respect then show some to your customers especially your senior citizens and see why the complaint was made in the first place. For those thinking online, well my account was purged twice so I do not bank online and now forced to get a paper statement at $3.00/month fee. A way to charge another fee. Bottom line is don't banks want to collect money as easily as possible or do they want to continue to make it more and more inconvenient for the customers who rely on the automated phone service to pay them back. Glad to see that this customer service manager researched this before he told me to get lost and take my business with me.
