If I had the option to give zero stars, I would. I will not bank with Associated EVER again. I am…read morebeing punished for not having enough money in my checking/savings by being charged money, ($10/month!) because of this asinine policy: "In order to avoid the service fee: 10 electronic transactions per month, maintain a $1000 daily balance, have a total of a $2500 relationship balance between all accounts, or a direct deposit of $500 or more per month." That is absolutely laughable for some of us. I have no way of meeting the ridiculous monthly requirements. Sad thing is, I spoke to three different people and they completely didn't even care. When the last woman told me "All you have to do is use your debit card 10 times in a month; go somewhere and charge $1", I had really had it. First of all, someone who has fallen on hard times may not make 10 purchases a month. Second of all, where am I going to go and charge $1 to my card 10 times? Third, when I do use a card, I use a credit card that gives me CASH back. When I told her this, she looked at me like a deer in the headlights. Ultimately, I find it funny that they advertise their checking accounts as "FREE." Guess it doesn't matter as anyone who treats a customer like a number and not a human being won't be in business long anyway. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else. There are several other places in town that will appreciate my business and not punish me when times are hard.-Plus Associated Bank has ridiculous rates on loans, so the question remains, why bank there? The answer is simple. There is simply no reason to. I couldn't have been more happy to close my accounts. That huge building was DESERTED when I went in to do so. Wonder why! Two thumbs down.

All they give you is a "Customer Service Rep" and they don't have answers. Nobody is trained to know anything in these branches. I asked for a name of one person and a fax number so I knew who I was working with -- Nope, only a general customer service fax and who knows where it will end up since they wouldn't give me a name. I spoke with Jamal at 800-236-8866, their main number and he said not to put his name on it, but that he might recommend the local branch to help me. Well, that's why I called the main number. The local The local branches were clueless. Thought there might be a human being with some knowledge that didn't sound like a prerecorded message. I asked if I could have an extension for future directly to IRA department. The c/r rep said "We don't give it out for security reasons." Huh? Are they afraid I'll jump through the phone and endanger someone?

When I was ready to start looking at homes, I contacted Chris. He hooked us up with a Homes for Heroes real estate agent, that was as committed to our new home mission as he was. We spent over 50 hours looking at homes allover WI with him, and shockingly, my husband even enjoyed his company. When looking for homes in MN he was able to get me Homes for Heroes agent that covered MN and worked in the same brokerage as our WI realtor. Chris was beyond on top of his game. I don't think I ever left him a message that was not returned within minutes. He even answered his phone on nights and weekends. I even told him "no rush" on things, but he was still bustin'-a-move to make things happen. He explained the process, and where we were in the process, in easy to understand terms. If 3rd party results were delayed (well, septic, appraisal, inspection, etc.), he was on them to move things along at a reasonable pace. He is not a "yes" man to anyone but you, the customer. He works with what's in your best interest. He is very professional and realistic via phone, in-person, and E-mail. My husband even enjoyed meeting him, and he doesn't really like anyone! When signing the paperwork at the title company, there were no surprises because Chris had covered everything. He was able to summarize 100 pages of legalise into 1 paragraph of what it means to us. He even provided a surprise housewarming gift; if you want to know what he offers, you'll have to finance a home with him! It's hard to believe that Chris has a family, because he puts 100% into treating the customer right! My only "complaint" is that I can't have Chris and Imagine Home Lending service my loan. He says he is always available if I have questions in the future. Once a customer of Chris', always a customer of Chris'!

I've been a customer of this bank for some time, and no wonder. This bank is a big deal! I know…read morealmost all the staff and never have to worry about being recognized when I walk through the door. The staff goes above and beyond, as exampled by this experience with Jordan, Assistant General Manager in La Crosse: I brought to Trevor, the initial associate I encountered, my check to cash, written to me on the account of another bank, representing the remaining balance on an automobile purchase; so, an amount that I was eager to obtain immediately. Trevor was truthful, informing that I could deposit the check with a one- or more-day hold, pending verification of funds: standard precautionary procedure. I've known Jordan since day one of my association with Citizens State Bank. Trevor took my check matter to Jordan, who elaborated on the reason for the hold: bad checks and overdrafts, me left holding the bank bag, all that sort of thing. In desperation (I know he felt it in me), I meekly suggested phoning the issuing bank to verify funds available with a simple phone call, which to my great relief he did for me! Having obtained that verification, he was able to authorize immediate release of the funds. I couldn't have asked for better nor more expeditious service, and doubtless could not at any other financial institution have received it. To say the least, I salute the attention that the staff in La Crosse has paid not only my feeble attempts at banking, but to me as a customer. Cash to coffee (perhaps someday I may be able to say 'dollars to donuts'?), this Citizens State Bank puts out the welcome mat for customer satisfaction.
