I have been a customer of this business since 2002 when I started my first 29 gallon tank. They taught me so much that I even had them build me a 120 gallon fish tank back in 2005. They came and set it up for me, and it served me well for six years, until I took it down and moved out of state, lugging this tank with me all over the West Coast of the U.S. where it stayed in storage for the past 13 years, but now that I am back and all settled in, Bryan helped me get it back up and running. I went to the store yesterday and asked the guy with a beard at the front to test the water. He had a bit of an attitude and asked me what for. After I explained that I've had a new tank up and running for about two weeks, he immediately said there's nothing to test for because there have been no fish in it. Another associate near the tanks asked if I needed help, and she offered to test my water. She took my water to the front, where the bearded man saw my container and glared at me like I was bothering him. I didn't see them do anything, but she came back after a few minutes and said my water was fine. So, I proceeded to buy three fish and acclimated them to the tank as you're supposed to, but when I woke up less than nine hours later, everything was dead. Yet, my water was fine?!? Today, I will be visiting Petsmart, where the staff is always willing to assist their customers. I was hoping for a better experience here, as they have a great variety of fish. read more

I bought a fish on Jan 18th and it died overnight, I called the store and took it back and the phony fish guarantee that I got was a $100 gift card (so to speak) and I had to bring in water from my tank then I'm allowed to get another fish. Since then, I've been back in there with my tank water 4 times and there's always some problem with my water so I couldn't get another fish. The last 2 times I took water in once again something was wrong with my water but I took the same exact water to 2 other fish stores and my water was fine. I'm to the point I don't even want a fish from them I'd rather just get my $100 back. I've got all the fish that I wanted from other pet stores. I've even gone to Top Shelf Aquatics in Orlando to buy fish. Moral of the store beware of that phony fish guarantee. ZERO STARS. I would avoid this store at all costs. Especially if you are driving a far distance to visit. I have been there 4 times trying to buy fish to stock a 125 and 90 G aquariums. Not 1 time have I ever been greeted or offered help. My third visit I finally asked for some help and the worker was extremely rude and was very annoyed he needed to help me. My 4th visit there, I had a worker look directly at me TWICE standing there waiting for help, and then he walked in another direction. He clearly saw me waiting, if he was busy all it would take would be for him to acknowledge me and let me know he would be with me as soon as he could. I tried to privately resolve this the issue through email with the company and both of my messages were ignored. Not one word from them. I don't generally leave reviews on places but I saw some of the negative reviews before going today (they showed up when I was finding this store for my navigation) and I was surprised. I've been to this store a few times over the past few years and everyone has always been very helpful, although it has been a while since the last time I was in there. Today I went in overwhelmed with wanting to start my first saltwater tank and unsure on quite a few things as I've read mixed reviews online. Needless to say, I had a lot of questions. I made it into the store about halfway before one of the guys greeted me with a friendly smile and asked me if I needed any help. I explained what I was trying to do and my very little knowledge and he was so helpful and kind. He spent a good 10-15 minutes explaining, showing me stuff, answering questions and helping me gather the things I would need to get started. After looking around a bit longer with my son (we both enjoyed looking at their awesome selection of freshwater fish, saltwater fish and corals) I had a few other questions and I was helped by another one of the guys who was just as kind and knowledgeable as the first guy. He even helped me carry some of the heavier items to my car. I'm awful with names so unfortunately I don't remember either of them but I appreciate both of their help! I feel much more comfortable setting up my first saltwater tank and don't feel nearly as overwhelmed as I did before I went into this store. I would definitely ignore any of the negative reviews and give this store a chance for yourself. They have an amazing selection of salt/fresh/coral but more importantly, the quality. I drive over 2 hours just to shop there. Staffed with associates that love this hobby! They're eager to help and they're very knowledgeable. We went in to shop their hard scape materials and were pleasantly surprised by the vast selection and fair pricing! The first time we visited, it was close to their closing time, but you wouldn't have known it because they spent so much time helping us and answering our (vast amount) questions. The second visit was today (a Saturday afternoon) and they were packed. Still, no fewer than three staff members checked on us and made sure we were taken care of. We've yet to buy fish from this shop but once our second tank is ready, they'll be our first stop. Fish look healthy, tanks are clean and well maintained and they have an excellent variety of both fresh and salt water critters! We can't recommend this place enough! read more

The benefits of crabs are fantastic, and I was looking for Thai Micro crabs. You guys said you had a couple, but when I got there, there was only one. Your employee recommended the panther crab. She said they were not aggressive and are purely scavenger who stay relatively small. Long story short, this beautiful guy has now grown to almost 3" and eaten: 1 Loach 3 Corys 1 Rainbow Shark 2 Dannios HE ATE THE MICRO CRAB! He's also wrecked havoc on my plants I couldn't believe it, so I did some research and spoke with some experts who told me panthers are the literal definition of opportunists. They will eat slower fish or bottom dwellers. I moved him out and have him in a temporary enclosure. I can't put him in the crab tank for the fiddlers since Panthers are purely freshwater. I was sold this crab under false pretenses and your employees' misinformation has cost me a lot of money in fish. Please get back to me as soon as you can. *** My wife has been in surgery, so I couldn't call so I emailed, messaged them through their site, and sent a message on Facebook. When I asked if they were going to reply their answer: "Have you ever heard of a phone?" ** When I call, I get greeted by a rude staff member who says "I don't believe it." I bought a lemon peel angel from this store approximately 2 weeks ago. I was told by your staff that the fish was healthy and eating fine. When I placed the fish in my tank at home under my tank lighting I noticed the fish had some type of infection on one of her fins. It was hard to see it well under your setting. I'm upset because this is an expensive fish and it's the second time I've had a bad experience at your store. Wonderful selections and staff is beyond courteous/helpful. I actually drive a hour to a little over a hour just to go here. I asked a employee i believe his name was Bryan many questions due to having no idea how to care for coral and asked about a fish i had at home and he was beyond helpful gave me so much information and went out of his way to actually make conversation, it felt like a very welcoming place and it is for sure. Definitely family oriented it seems. All fish and plants/coral were beautiful and in such great health, i've never seen fish at a pet store look so happy. I hate how every pet store i have ever gone to (petco,petsmart,pet supermarket, etc.) always has dust on majority of their items and it's disgusting. You walk into this marine warehouse and it's clean beyond friendly and just such a nice atmosphere. Not to mention i had a question about my eel and oscar fish and i spoke with a gentleman on the phone and he gave me such wonderful instructions on how to care for them. I'm from St. Pete and found the negative reviews here to be very surprising? (First, I don't have the time for a saltwater setup, so my review is just for the freshwater selections...) MW has a better freshwater selection of fish than even my favorite joint in St. Pete! Plus, if they do not have it currently in stock, they can order it for you. It's always worth the extra drive for me... Over the years, they helped me get some fancy Lionhead Ranchu Japanese goldfish that are not as common as most aquarium fare. Plus, they have some VERY amazing fully-decorated aquarium setups and other fancy ornaments not available elsewhere. Their variety of freshwater plants is the largest I've ever seen. The staff are very knowledgeable and are not afraid to tell a customer if a fish or coral is not right for their tank (In a very respectful and teaching way) and are quick to recommend an alternative or help you get to the point where you can keep that animal. Brought 40 mollies as a donation and had to share this experience. The gentleman working up front named Lucas gave me an incredibly smug look when I walked in with my fish, even though I've called in weeks in advance to be sure they would accept my donations, the day prior and the day of delivery for early notice. Lucas noted my fish were kind of small and was completely unwelcoming. I told him the box my fish baggies were in was not secure at bottom and he didn't listen and was not attentive at all because he thought they were small. He grabbed the box and the bags hit the floor. My fish went all over the floor and he showed no remorse. I had to personally run behind the counter to salvage them! The owner came to help And asked what happened. I told him the worker was not listening to me as I told him the box was not a fixed at the bottom. After rescuing them, Lucas took the fish to the side sink and very aggressively poured them into 3 containers before the final bag for transport and acclimation in their tank. He threw the old baggies to the side and didn't even realize there was another fish left in the bag! Of which he threw into the final container. I told him he was being incredibly rough! And his response was they see a lot worse during shipping! As if it is a lesser of evils that is righteous here. This boy was so unsensitized when it came to caring for my babies and completely disregarded me as a customer. I spoke with the owner with my complaints and he told me Lucas was the star of the store! Their number 1 priority should be fish safe handling and keeping. There is no way this boy is the star of this store. I do not recommend this shop and especially do not recommend you bring your babies here for safe handling and keeping. Ruined my experience and hopes with this shop. Total disregard for the customer and the fish being donated. This is a clear sign into the ethic behind their fish handling. The owner was nice and worked to make me feel better but I still can not believe how this employee treated my fish. read more

This is a solid place for both marine and freshwater applications. They have a wide variety of equipment and glass tanks. Lets be real here, I have not found one B&M pet store that sells equipment for anywhere near the discounts you can find online. In a pinch, however, if you need a pump or reef supplies this place is probably your best bet. I have a pond, a freshwater tank, a reef setup and a FOWLR predator tank. This is kinda a one stop shop for me. They have a good variety of fresh water specimens are reasonable prices. Picked up a nice pair of African Butterfly fish the other day. They carry African cichlids, brackish water fish and some nice Discus. They have a pretty big selection of marine creatures as well, not only fish but soft and hard coral, inverts, and live rock. They don't have the best live rock however. It's mostly all uncured with no color and no life on it. There are a few other spots around town where you can get some nice fully cured rock if you are at the right place at the right time. The fish here seem very healthy, I've been coming here for years and have never had a problem with their livestock be it fish or coral. They will feed the fish if you ask them to see if they feed well. They will adjust the lights to examine the color of the corals, they may even let you pet their lionfish to check if they are actually poisonous. Speaking of feeding they have a good variety of frozen food and dry food. They have live brine shrimp, ghost shrimp and feeder fish as well. I have a pair of mated clownfish that I purchased from here 8 years ago and they are still thriving. My oldest is also my favorite, a colorful and highly personable Humuhumunukunukuapua'a, his name is Sammy and he is huge now after 10 years! I will continue to frequent this fine establishment. read more

I love this store! I was in the area and decided to drop by and see what they had. I was pleasantly surprised with their wonderful selection, healthy animals & plants, and lovely staff. This place is an hour away from me, but I definitely plan to make the trip back should I ever need fish or advice. The area it's in scared me off a little bit because i'm such a snob, but the store is absolutely lovely inside, I promise! Their show ranks and fish were so beautiful I honestly had a great time just looking. In fact, my mom left the store with me asking if I could switch my tank to saltwater because of how much she liked what she saw. However -- I DID notice that all the tanks were on a central filtration system, which worried me. They may have quarantine tanks that are not on display, but even then if one fish got sick, ALL the other fish would get sick too, not just one tank. I will probably ask about this next time I stop by. !!ALWAYS quarantine your fish for at least a week before you put them in your tank regardless of where they come from!! read more

I was here a few months ago and was not very impressed, however I stopped in today and things are much improved. I saw ample staff and was asked if I needed help multiple times, so no concerns about sending a beginner here. I also saw at least 12 things that I would buy, given the budget and if it weren't such a huge hastle to introduce multiple things to my saltwater tank. The pricing was also very reasonable. You don't often see large zoa covered rocks for $20-50. I've seen small frags of three or four heads go for that much. Over all I am putting this store back on my list to check before I buy anything. It is worth looking becuase you never know who may have the best looking of whatever coral or fish you are adding. read more

Update: So I've been in the hobby for a year now and though I'm still learning new things every day, I can happily say I have an established mixed reef that's very healthy and very happy. That being said, I frequent the various local fish stores in the area, and I still come to marine warehouse every once in a while. But no more. I came today with my sister and my three-year-old daughter to buy water. As I paid for two corals and 15 gallons of water and checked out, there was an issue with one of the 5 gallon jugs of water. My sister noticed that her jug was missing and had been replaced by another. She simply asked to see if her jug might have been taken by someone else by accident. Ultimately, she wanted to know that she was getting the right water. And she wanted the jug that she came with, and why not? Not that big of a deal, right? Anyway, the guy who worked there explained that the reason they did not give her her jug back and decided to replace with another is that the salt water salinity was off. This was confusing. So I asked what the salinity was at and he said it was off. That's it. I asked them what salt water did we just buy, and he showed me about 30 jugs of water that had been stacked and sitting in the back room. They would not tell me how long the water had been sitting, and when I asked for them to check the salinity. They, without exaggeration, became hostile, offensive, and refused. I have never been to any LFS that would not check the salinity of water that you were buying. I am amazed at how they acted, And I am appalled by their business ethics and customer service. I asked who the owner of the store was, and the guy said that he was. I'm not sure that I believe him. I just imagine someone who owns and runs an aquarium store wouldn't be so petty and disrespectful, especially to a paying customer with a young child no less. Bought a fish from this store. Fish died instantly in my already cycled tank with other fishes and anemone. Carried the fish back and they found every reason to not replace it. First staff claimed the tester was not calibrated so she need to test it in a microscopic looking thing. Of course she said it was too high. Hmmmmm. Really. Avoid this store. Service is a good/bad scenario. The good is that when you need help that person will stay with you from the time you start till the time you checkout. Horrible I got an 1100 dollar price on an aquarium from the manager then came back the next day to buy it and the cocky store owner told me it's now 1300. I bought it anyway but will never buy anything. AFTER I bought it the tank needed work and he got out a power drill and was moving boards around.... The workers are rude and the fish are always sick.
