Not long after I did my first review, I decided to get a Bumblebee morph Ball Python from Herp Hobby Shop. While I was in there this one little snake kept coming up to the glass when I was near, and seemed curious. Beautiful little girl snake. So I picked up a tank, and supplies and took it home and set it up, to get the temperature and humidity consistent. The following week, I picked up Bee (who you can see in the photos I have been posting). I let her settle in for a week or so, and then she ate with no issues. I have been working with her to get her used to handling. Really docile and sweet... gets out and explores her enclosure, likes to bask in the lights I setup. Very laid back pet, and easy to care for. I have been to Herp Hobby Shop several times to pick up frozen rat fuzzies for her eat, and they are always helpful and friendly. read more

Called twice today to make sure they had a product they said they were getting in this week. After telling them I had to drive over 30 minutes to get there and asking them to double check that they had the product, they confirmed that they had it. We drove all the way there and all they had were the filters not the actual product. Super waste of time and gas money. We found it online and won't be back to Herps :( read more

Really great reptile shop! Has a great selection of extremely well priced terrariums/food/supplies etc and the staff are super friendly! We bought a gorgeous gecko there and multiple terrarium set ups. Really a great experience and worth the 45 minute drive - love it there! My husband & I purchased a snake for our son while we were down there visiting family. I thought I would be able to bring it home with us on the plane but Southwest doesn't allow them so I called Bob & asked if he could ship it to us & he said yes even though they don't ship. I thought that was so awesome of them to do that for us. So Bob calls me with the shipping amount of $125.00 what could I do but tell him ok. I talk to my son & tell him that it will be shipped & how much it was to ship & he tells me he just received a snake from FL that only cost $65.00 to have it shipped then he goes on their website & it clearly stated they do ship & shipping would range from $55 to $65. Then Bob wouldn't ship. He had all kinds of excuses on why he couldn't. I had my husband call him & once again Bob said he would ship it & once again he did not ship it. My husband then calls him back & Bob wants to refund us our money. I asked him how he would be able to refund us cash but got no answer. A few days go by & my husband calls again. Bob once again said he would ship it out. Well, It turns out Bob has a brother who called my husband apologizing for what has been happening & he said he would ship it. He did but he never notified us that he did ship it. My husband contacted him the morning we thought it would be here & he said oh yeah I shipped it. I actually loved this store when we went in there but after this experience I will never go back to them. read more

Drive over 30 miles every weekend to get feeder rats from herps been going there for over 10 years love their pets people and feeders. Very strong and healthy ball pythons have purchased 7 or 8 from them now. Can never go wrong here. read more

They took down my google review so I'll post it here I hope it gets seen Okay so I was really excited because all of these reviews were so positive. And honestly it's a huge disappointment and hurts me inside to see how bad this place was! The only good thing about this place was the staff. I'm sorry I didn't take more pictures I just wanted out of there as soon as possible. Here's my first impressions I walk in and all I smell is horrible animal poop. Like so bad I wanted to leave instantly idk why I even decided to go in there but I still wanted to see what they had. I look around and some of the habitats are decent sizes and they have hides which are good but they're covered in poop like the flooring is so disgusting the news paper looks like it's never been changed ever! You're supposed to change it often every time the animal poops or if it's babies at least every few poops you know. The worst one in there were the baby blue tongue skinks I thought they had diarrhea or something which confused me but it was cat food that was soaking in water and it looked so gross and they were just sleeping in that I look around and see pretty much every single habitat has the poop problem. One of the tanks had way too many baby chameleons they were walking all over each other. And then the leopard gecko tanks were 10 gallons with multiple in there and not one hide to hide. And then I see a python that I assume was around 4 feet in a pretty small tank and it was trying really hard to get out and I just wanted to take it home and give it all the space it could ever need it took up half of it's tank just by being curled up in a ball. I also saw this beardie in a 10 gallon freaking out cause it wanted to get out so badly and I felt terrible that's no spot for a beardie I hope this was only temporary or something cause god I felt so bad for the poor thing it was the size of the tank. They also had their bearded dragons and a couple other animals on like wood shaving things like in the picture and if they accidentally swallow that that could lead to big issues. If I could I would rate 0 stars I hope one day I come back and see some MAJOR improvements bevaude I see that other stores seem pretty good this one is absolutely awful sorry I don't have more pictures :( read more

We love Herps! We used to go all the way down to Clearwater/Largo to get our bearded dragons food which was costly because wed have to make so many trips in a week. We are so happy herps opened so close to us! We go there often and even feed and pet Hermy, his massive tortoise! They are always nice and helpful inside. read more

RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL OWNER!!! if i could give this place 0 stars i would, the owner is a total jerk. my boyfriend had called a week prior to our visit about selling/surrendering our snake because we would be moving & didn't have the space for it anymore, he told us to bring our snake in & he would potentially buy it. when we arrived to the store the lady that approached us seemed really nice but she was clearly high off of something cause she could barely keep her eyes open & was slurring her words. when the owner finally came to look at the snake he had a smug look on his face & proceeded to talk to us in the most condescending tone as if we were children. he told us that he wouldn't take the snake because she was shedding, which wasn't an issue, we had no problem with waiting for her to finish her shedding but he had the most rotten attitude & i was honestly shocked that he would even talk to a person, much less a customer like that. he just kept rolling his eyes at us with his arms crossed & kept calling my boyfriend "buddy" & just completely turned us around out of the store because he wouldn't let us get one word out of our mouths. definitely don't recommend doing business here unless you enjoy having conversations with complete dickheads:) read more

The employees are very nice and the shop has a good selection of supplies and feeders but be weary of the owner he will tell you anything to get a sale from you but once he has your money he will ignore you and blatantly lie to your face and walk away. I was sold a diseased boa with neurological damage that died shortly after I bought it from the shop the owner picked out the tank and told me the same care I read online and said the snake had eaten from him before then a few days of observing the snake I noticed it wasn't acting right and called the owner Bob and he blew me off and so I brought the snake to the shop and asked about the animal warranty that they advertise online and in the shop and he insulted me and my wife to our face and said he isn't going to help or do a store credit and walked out the store and hid from us I wouldn't recommend this store to anyone looking to get an animal they come sick and I've seen multiple complaints about people getting mite infestations from his reptiles read more

Huge selection of reptiles. They have anything you can imagine, but unfortunately when I adopted my bearded dragon he had mites. So be careful, because if my dragon had it then most likely every other reptile there has them as well. I would just recommend them to keep an eye out for mites and to clean more often. Mites are a pain in the butt to get rid off. read more

I come here for all my reptile needs. My wife and I have 1 spoiled bearded dragon and I have 6 Ball Pythons my wife won't claim.. haha but I come to Herp's for all my reptile needs and they are nothing but helpful and friendly. Their new location is amazing, clean, organized and in a beautiful open area to find unlike their old location. They really have made an awesome decision with the new location. I have seen some incredibly ridiculous bad reviews against Herp's and I think it's ridiculous. One review mentioned an adult Bearded Dragon trying to escape implying it was because it was in a cramped space. My bearded dragon has a huge 55 gallon tank with everything he needs, perfect temps, lights etc. and whenever we are in the room he goes crazy running back and forth, flaring up and showing his black beard just to show us he's wanting out cause they love human interaction if that is how they are raised since they were babies. That comment just had me laughing. Don't talk about things you don't understand or have experienced and come up with some idea out of your head as to why something seems odd to you. Herp's did indeed need lots of improvements but they sure got it done and they should be given a visit and trust that you will see an amazing pet, hobby shop! read more

Some of the workers are rude but the store is "ok" they have many reptiles, arachnids, and amphibians. They feed their reptiles live rodents. they are very crude to their rodents and pets they sell alike. There was a dead rat in one of the snakes enclosure sitting in the water bowl rotting just thrown in there with no regard to the snake once so ever. I would never buy a pet from this establishment unless you wouldnt mind paying the vetinarian a visit afterwards with your new pet. They have a room in the back with no air conditioning were they breed rodents in the boiling summer heat. The rodents are treated so badly many are already in the process of passing away before they are even to be fed to their pets. Death by predator is a far more painless experiece for them, compared to the abuse they are used to. The abuse upon the snakes they keep is enormous they dont clean the younger snakes enclosures, leaving their feces and shed in the enclosure to rot and harm the snakes the have a room with racks full of snakes in plastic bins with no air holes, the room i am speaking of is not ventulated and in the florida heat the humidity is amplified above 60% causing scale rot on some of the snakes. The heat in the room is above 90 farenheit during the day causing the snakes to be stressed and to possibly perish before they are sold for insanely high prices unrealistic for the species and morphe of the animal being sold. The turtles, chameleons, bearded dragons, spiders, and other lizards being sold from what ive seen are treated with care, the snakes however are abused and treated with a disrespect that could only be explained as to that they have no know knowledge as to what the snakes need to survive. read more

Seemed really sketchy. The shop is inside a warehouse. All the reptiles and pets were in small 10 gallon tanks with multiple animals per tank. Did not seem healthy for the animals. I assume the rest of the warehouse is used for breeding the reptiles. Did not feel like a good place that cares about the animals. read more

I have bought at least a dozen snakes from here over the past few years, spotted pythons, prairie kingsnakes, corn snake's, variable kingsnakes and today a baby ball python that ate as soon as I got it home. All the snakes I bought from here take pre-killed frozen/thawed and never had a problem. One of my favorite places to buy reptiles. A+ read more
