I agreed to purchase a 2021 Blackfin 272 from Johnny Timons(sales agent) and my offer was accepted. I tried repeatedly to setup the purchase of the boat and trailer but was ignored for two weeks while Mr Timons refused to answer my numerous texts and emails. How this place stays in business blows my mind. Took the boat in for 100hr service, asked them to service the generator at the same time. Picked up the bot and did not service the generator. When questioned they said "well you didn't tell us" but somehow they charged us for it. Wtf... They also damaged the Grady white decal on the side of the boat. Told us it came in like that... Now this last weekend, our trip was ruined because the outboards had a software update that was unbeknownst to us. We even called marine max with our issue and they said nothing. Shouldn't they have not only know about the issue but also should have updated it during the 100hr service. The boat only has 130hrs total. The service teams tries to get you off the phone the moment you call them. Why would a place like this where there are tons of people with similar experiences continue to stay in business... are we just glutton for punishment as a society?? Why do we reward this place with our business when clearly they have no inclination to provide anything after the sale. read more

When I could get parts on the phone, they seamed helpful, but I was unable to make/complete a parts order even after calling back speaking directly to the parts manager Beebe Gary. I even had 2 other departments walk my name and number to her, but no call back. I will now likely not have my parts in time for the holiday weekend unless. How many attempts should it take to make a parts order? Well I can say it has been 2 full days and I still have yet to complete my order. Is 3 + days the magic number? MarineMax won't warranty repairs made by endeavor (July 2022). Ironically, the technician working in Service at MarineMax is the same guy that didn't repair my boat correctly at Endeavor. MarineMax is not interested in retaining Endeavor customers. Using the buy sell to not honor Endeavor customers prior patronage. I'm moving my boat to Marina Bay Harbor. The prices went up at Endeavor for storage after MarineMax bought them, and Trailer storage is not being honored. Bad deal. MarineMax has the same technicians from Endeavor that repaired my boat (Ronnie), but won't honor warranty on a repair. They wont even look at the boat to see if it is a simple correction to the repair done prior. The boat is doing the exact same thing it was prior to repair (heavily leaking transmission fluid) only 6 hours of use after I spent $4900. Money down the drain and no solution from Marine Max. I sent all the repair invoices toTrent at MarineMax. He does call back when he says he will. He basically told me tough luck. Trent told me how they aren't responsible for any Endeavor customers they just bought the company. Thanks guys! read more

The Mercury website lists Marine Max as one of the few authorized Mercury mechanics in Houston area; however, my last experience with them proves that they are not competent to work on Mercury outboards, will do more harm than good, and will push expensive preventive maintenance instead of diagnosing an actual problem. When my 2006 Optimax developed a ticking noise that I could not diagnose easily, I decided to have professionals at Marine Max give it a try. The check in process was fast and easy - they got my description of the symptoms and said they'll be in touch. Two days later I received an estimate for a recommended "B" service for the total price before taxes of $1261.30. Nowhere in the estimate nor during follow-up phone call did they mention the original reason I brought the boat in - the ticking noise from the starboard side of the engine. I refused the preventive maintenance service knowing that I replaced the water pump 8 months earlier, replaced gear oil at the same time, and spark plugs only 40 hours ago. Additionally, changing the water pump and spark plugs would not eliminate the noise that was clearly coming from the power head. Marine Max did charge me $230.84 for running computer diagnostics, cylinder compression check, and the complimentary boat wash. Fast forward two weeks - it is a beautiful day on Clear Lake and we decide to take the boat out (ticking noise be darned). When launching I could not get the engine to idle. It ran rough and would die when shifting into gear. The day on the water was ruined. When I took the cowl off I discovered that one of the wiring harness plugs going from the lowest ignition coil was pulled out from its seat just a tad, forcing the engine to run on four out of six cylinders. Marine Max mechanic was the last one to work under the cowl and undoubtedly caused this malfunction. They completely ignored the original problem that brought the boat to them in the first place and were pushing a load of preventive maintenance that does not require a Mercury technician certification to perform. The best part of this story is that while fixing Marine Max mechanic's handy work under the cowl, I was able to diagnose the ticking noise. All it took was a mechanic's stethoscope to determine that the belt tension pulley has a worn out bushing. The 43-dollar part is on order and will be replaced by the next weekend. If you are looking for competent service for your Mercury outboard motor, look past Marine Max on NASA Road 1. read more

I purchased a Scarab 195 from Marine Max in Houston and they no longer work / warrant these boats. I have owned the boat for 2.5 years and now the nearest authorized Scarab dealer is in LA (350 miles away). I bought from Marine Max based on their service rating and customer satisfaction rating. I am at a loss and wish I never purchased from them. This is not how you treat customers, you find a solution. They worked on the bilge pump a year ago , it is still not working, and now they will not even look at it to troubleshoot. read more

I am not happy with the service that I have received from Marine Max the service department is very hard to deal with have a brand new boat and it has been in shop more than I have been out to enjoy it fishing hard to get parts ordered for my boat said they could not get Scout but my wife emailed them and I received my parts from Scout in a week and when I asked Marine Max why they could not do it I really got I don't know why. I have to go there because they are the only ones that can warranty a Scout boat or I would find someone that cares about there customers read more

You won't get any high pressure selling there. They want you to find the right boat...whether it's from them or somewhere else. Steven was terrific in sales - ask for him! Casey was great in financing. Captain Brian did a great orientation with us and took all the time needed to answer all questions. I had to take time out and write a brief review, I've been in sales and customer service most of my life and these days it's hard to come across amazing service. I reached Chris Brissette in Service by pure coincidence, I dialed the 888 number and got the Seabrook location. Not only did he clearly understand what I was looking for (a switch cover) but his thoroughness, responsiveness and complete patience with my questioning and his resolve were 2nd to none. I had called numerous dealers in my area and continued to get the run around. The fact that he spend as much time with me on the phone as he did for a $2 part is simply awesome and very much appreciated. He could've simply transferred me to parts after, but instead he had Clarissa call me back (she was extremely busy). The customer service didn't stop with Chris, Clarissa, also was a breath of fresh air to deal with. She immediately located the part and had SeaRay drop ship it to me directly and then offered to wave the shipping charges due to the (slight) delay in service due to them being overwhelmed and busy (nothing she had to do). In this day of electronics and social media (and many calls being routed overseas) it is EXTREMELY refreshing to experience such service. THEY DO BIG, HIGH DOLLAR YACHTS..... but for us smaller time boating enthusiasts, Marine Max, a Fortune 500 company with yacht dealerships around the U.S., holds something important for us, too. My 22 foot Boston Whaler needed a number of medium complex repairs. Though I have very able and qualified friends in the boat repair industry, some of whom I've given great reviews, I entrusted service adviser Billy Foulkes at Marine Max to take care of my boat knowing it might run more money. As it turned out their prices were very comparable or only slightly higher than smaller boat dealerships, and the keel guard was over $100 less! The reason for this review (cuz Marine Max doesn't need my little review) is that the biggest single problem this boater has experienced with the repair community is speed in the turn around getting your boat BACK and out fishing! I'm over 70 and Marine Max with guys like Billy, took the time to meticulously get the job description right, the quote itemized and in writing, and RETURNED MY BOAT FAST, CLEANED, AND THE WORK WAS PERFECT on all counts. My fears of the "big yacht guys" were allayed. Their big facility, big operation is run like a Swiss watch. They were honest AND FAST (did I mention they're fast?) and I'm proud this my only review of a big business, but glad I gave them a chance - Thanks, Billy Foulkes and MARINE MAX from a little guy. read more

I would not even let these people put GAS in my BOAT!!!!!!! 2011 Sea Ray....Upcharged me! Simple fuse turned into 1400.00 FULL Tune UP! Spark Plugs, Spark Plug Wires, WATER PUMP! Oil Change etc......The Boat was Sold by them and Oil Change was performed at that time! Roughly 6 months earlier Why again?????? After the Boat was picked up it would not even Idle. Took 9 starts each time for 3 days to get Boat to idle. When I pulled Boat after the Weekend I called them with my Concerns. You think thay even cared..... They said "Bring it Back...We will charge 2 hours Labor to adjust Carb" What?!!! This was after I was told the reason the Boat stopped running to begin with was because of a Fuse!! Fuse I said? What fuse??? Why was this 1400.00 Tune up performed on a Boat with only140 hrs on it??? It was sold by them with roughly 100 hours on it I can understand work needs to be performed BUT! if it does not need to be performed or if the Boat is held Hostage so to speak that's not right! If Customer is not told about Fuse until AFTER all work performed they crossed the Line! Paid local Mechanic to adjust Carb. Runs like a Dream now. Runs the way it did before Fuse Blew. These people will Take your $$$ but will perform half harted work. They tried to blame ME? They said a sample of gas was tested and it was low on Octaine. I only fill up at the Gas Station on the Water under the Kemah Bridge. This fuel is for Boats only. I said I only fill up with the Best. Why? did you not pump the gas out?.....Answer was.....You did not tell us to!...... Are you kidding ME!!!!!!! I just spent 1487.37 You think I care about 4.00 worth of gas in the Tank! You asperated gas to take a sample....Just asperate all the gas and start fresh?! Unbelieveable! Local Mechanic said they were full of it. Carb was out of adjustment BIG TIME! Simple BS excuse to get boat back to charge more money. He said "Son! you trusted them and they had a Ball with you" I'm 47 but he was in his 60's :] They are the Rep for Sea Ray but trust me they are not the Standard of a Sea Ray Boat. Upcharge Upcharge...They have the feeling if you do not like us take the Boat to Dallas Marine Max or Austin Marine Max for the Extended Warranty you wasted money on! If the work was 1/2 way decent you just bite the bullet. My Original Opinion was this was a learning exp but the Boat is now in TOP Condition and that's all I cared about.....It's AFTER all this mess and the Boat ran like a 1973 Boat left outside for 10 years and had to hire someone to go behind them I decided other people need to know what to expect from them so I am writing this......NEVER AGAIN!!! Marinemax did servce on my baja 275 boat and in the proccess they stained my sunpad with some sort of cleaning solution a refuses to take responsablity for the damage that was done in there boat yard. I would never refer there serv dept. to anyone ever. read more
