Eastside's values are to Pursue God, Build Community, and Unleash Compassion and you'll struggle to find a more genuine and compassionate group of Christians in any area of the country or world. They have a genuine heart for the broken hearted, the struggling, the addicted, and the unchurched/uncertain and anyone will find themselves at home here, even if you don't believe you are a Christian (in fact their unofficial motto is "this is for everyone"). There's a place for everyone to volunteer or serve here too, whether it's in Production, at the cafe, as a greeter or in the kids ministry, Kidside (which is always a highlight of my daughter's week!) My experience left me extremely concerned, and honestly, it felt more like a business than a church. One of the biggest things that bothered me was the way Jesus and Christianity were talked about during the service. There were comments and jokes that came across as sarcastic and disrespectful toward Jesus. In my opinion, the pastor was making a mockery of Jesus rather than honoring Him. That was extremely disturbing to witness in a place that claims to be teaching Christianity. The atmosphere was also very unusual. Before the message even started, everyone was instructed to repeat phrases from the screen, raise their hands in specific ways, and hold up their Bibles while following the instructions. The pastor even told the new visitors something along the lines of, "I know this might look weird, but this is our ritual before we get into the Word." I found that very strange and uncomfortable. There were also speakers throughout the property -- inside the building, outside, in the bathrooms, and even in the parking lot. With the constant audio, repeated phrases, hand motions, and instructions coming from the screens, the entire experience felt very trance-like and unsettling to me. Another major red flag was the amount of emphasis placed on money and donations. There was a presentation explaining multiple ways to donate, and the welcome materials seemed to focus heavily on tithing and giving financially. What stood out to me was how little I saw about actually teaching the Gospel compared to the emphasis on giving. The pamphlets even asked for credit card information, which I had never experienced at a church before.

Ya en algunos países se puede notar que no hay libertad de cargar la Biblia como muchos estamos acostumbrados o todavía no hay Biblias escritas en ciertos idiomas, entonces los misioneros les predican l Palabra usando la memorización de la Palabra! I went to church to pray and give thanks to God for the progress I've made in my personal goals and…read morethe recent success I've experienced. I had made an oath and felt genuinely called to go pray. When I arrived, Mass was already in progress, but I only intended to quietly join for a few minutes. As I walked in, an older woman at the front stopped me. I was wearing a hat, which I planned to remove once I sat down, but before I could do that, she told me I wasn't allowed to enter. I asked why, explaining that I just wanted to pray and be part of the service. She refused and told me I couldn't come in. Then, she went as far as to physically hit my hat and told me I was being disrespectful. I asked again if she was seriously denying me access to join the Mass and pray, and she said yes. She told me to go to the chapel instead if I wanted to pray. I've never experienced anything like this before especially in a place that's supposed to be open to anyone seeking God. It felt wrong to be turned away like that when all I wanted was to pray and express gratitude.

I found Elevation Church about 7 years ago while searching for a positive motivational quote, but instead I found something more spectacular. For some angelic reason, my mouse landed on this church and as I listen to Pastor Steven's preaching, I felt that the sermons were intentionally written just for me. Since that day listening to him preach became a daily devotion. Elevation Church is a wonderful family to belong to and despite the distance, you will feel the warmth, togetherness and love from everybody. I recently added Elevation Church, meeting the Pastors and staff to my bucket list and I hope it will happen very soon. Check it out and maybe something good is in store for you as well.
