I had come to Visible Changes about 15 years ago and I loved using both Angela and Laura as colorists at the salon. The salon is now under new ownership and new management. When I moved back to Rockland recently I was excited to book an appointment. I was assinged to a colorist named Brie at the salon in November 2021 for blonde highlights. When I met with Brie I asked for light blonde highlights and I was very specific about the type of coloring that I wanted. I mentioned that I wanted light blonde throughout my hair with chunky light blonde face framing highlights in the front. Brie aka Brieanna was nice albeit young and somewhat inexperienced. Brie told me that she is relatively new at the salon and that she had not been paid on the books at the salon. She went on to tell me how the salon owners paid her illegally and she didn't report taxes. She then went on to tell me that when the salon shut in the middle of the year in 2020 that she was unable to file for unemployment. This should have been the first warning sign, but I ignored it. She insisted that I needed toner in my hair which I had never had previously, but I took the advice and left the salon with my hair wet. When my hair dried I was astonished to see that my hair was darker than my natural hair color and not blonde at all! My natural hair color is light brown with natural red tones. I came in for blonde highlights and my hair was darker than before Brie had colored it! I called the salon the next day and they were nice at first. They told me that I could come in free of charge to have my hair color fixed. I sent them the same photo that I am attaching to this review. They told me that Brie would call me to discuss so that she could fix my highlights. Brie never called me, but another woman in the salon called me and scheduled a date for me to come in. When I came in for the 2nd time I had to take the afternoon off work and make sure that my mother could care for my infant son because I didn't know how long it would take. When I arrived at the salon Brie escorted to me to the back and this time I showed her a photo of what I had described since she clearly did not understand what I had described the first time that I had come in a week earlier. Brie's first response was to tell me that I had not shown her that picture and she ran down to get Joan. Joan then approached me with her arms crossed and started yelling at me about how I had not shown Brie that photo last time. I sat there stunned as Joan yelled at me and said that she had only promised to wash out the toner not fix the highlights. I explained in a shaky voice that no one had said anything to me about toner. I told Joan that they had promised that Brie would call me to discuss and that Brie had never come. I was wasting my time being here. Joan continued to insult me and act in a hostile manner towards me. I got up to leave and Joan followed me out and slammed the door on me after I left. Even though I had already closed the door Joan opened the door again and slammed it again behind me. I have never experienced such terrifying, unorganized and scary service in my life! This is an expensive salon. You would think that they would treat customers with decency! They treat customers with violent communication, their colorist did not know how to do her job and refuse to provide services that they promised to provide! Avoid Visible Changes and especially avoid Brie and Joan!

I asked for a dark red color and they made the back of my head bright red and the front brown. my hair is very blocky!!! I came in with a color correction request and Isabella said she could do it. The tips of the front and back of my hair had some faded green on it and 90% of my hair was my natural dark brown color. There were multiple red flags throughout my time there. she didn't listen to my request. Instead of dyeing my hair red she used a high lift developer with a copper color. When she washed out my hair at the sink she said "it's such a nice copper!" The other girl working said "I love this ginger color" And I said "I wanted dark red..." she then asked to see the photo again and threw a dark red color over all of it. while Isabella was putting the color on my head she asked another employee to mix more for her. The woman asked what ratio she was using (1:1 or 1:2) and Isabella shrugged and said "whatever I feel like doing in the moment I do it different every time" That is really concerning when you are putting chemicals in someone's hair!!! I left the salon that day with dark brown hair. I contacted them afterwards and asked if they could do anything to make it more red and closer to the color I wanted. The ginger color she put on first and the red she put on after had made my hair look really muddy and it looked orange in the light. Isabella said she could do highlights in my hair to get it closer to the red I wanted. I came back and she said she would do panels on my head instead. She asked me which color swatch I preferred and I explicitly said I didn't want fire engine red. As you can see in the photos the whole back of my head is the exact red I didn't want. when Isabella was washing my hair out in the sink she sounded nervous. Probably because it was bright red in the back when she brought me to the mirror she looked really disappointed. She told me that maybe I can wear my hair all pushed to the front to cover the brown in the front. What kind of solution is that? I asked Isabella what the next step would be to getting my hair all one color and she couldn't answer. A different employee told me that the front will fade. How will the dark brown color in the front EVER fade to a bright red color???? Isabella knew my hair looked bad. She looked disappointed and she said "if you have any issues call the salon tomorrow" She didn't say it looked good. Didn't seem excited at all. She looked extremely disappointed. She knew she messed up my hair. When I contacted the salon for guidance, help, a refund ANYTHING for the monstrosity they put on my head they gaslit me and told me that I was too impatient with the process, this was the end result, and that they would be no longer serving my hair.
