We were served by Sarah today and she was amazing with food recommendations and service providing our drinks and food in a timely manner. This place is always so clean, music is loud enough to enjoy but low enough to have a conversation. Today we enjoyed chips & guac, shrimp soup, carne asada taco and my bf had the tacos that have melted cheese and shrimp inside. We also had pacifico michi and a paloma, both were cold and delicious. The food was phenomenal in flavor and tastefully presented. Wait service very attentive and friendly. Portions were generous. The dining area was appropriately decorated with aquatic themes and color scheme, producing a comfortable effect. Each of the four of us with differing menu items was impressed by the flavor and quality of the dishes served, from avocado stuffed ceviche, which was next-level delicious to seafood tostada and flautas. They had habanero sauce available on the table for the hot spice aficionados and mild salsa for the less adventuresome. They were completely accommodating to low carb preferences to the point of bringing out sliced cucumbers for dipping guacamole and modifying their stuffed chile shrimp appetizers to avoid the breaded crust. This place is on the decline and that is very unfortunate. The problem is clear and it is that the owners are greedy so they're taking short cuts like cheap, useless napkins and refusal to give you hot sauce with you take out order. Today, another example of poor leadership showed itself during my take out order process. I ordered ceviche and chips and salsa. Get home, no salsa. That is just pathetic. How can you screw up something that simple? Poor leadership, that's how. To the owners, this used to be one of my favorite places in Yuma. I'd ALWAYS take my out of town guests or suggest my friends all meet there. We'll that's over. It's over because you're cheap and you're ruining the dining experience because of it. I USED to love eating here. I happened to be in town for a day and decided to get my old favorites. Ordered some toritos and shrimp ceviche. The toritos are sooo small and not as stuffed for $4 each! Mariscos is a breath of fresh air in Yuma. It immediately comes across as the best restaurant around. I would highly recommend the owner or manager put in transition light bulbs because the lighting is about 10,000 times brighter than it needs to be. Simply turning all those lights down will add an awesome ambiance. Second, there was no music, which makes some awkward silences in the dining room. I played some jazz from the phone and it was nice. This restaurant is absolutely adorable, it's located in a not-so cute area but the in side of the restaurant tells a completely different story. One of the waiters saw us walk towards then and opened the door for us, we were greeted and sat down right of way. We started with a dozen of oysters, some oyster shooters, fish tacos, green sauce aguachili, and pina colada. Everything was sooooo delicious! Considering how far this place is away from the ocean, they somehow managed to make sure the seafood is fresh and clean. We finished our meal with their most famous flan and brownie ice cream. Stopped into Mariscos Mar Azul while passing through Yuma based on prior Yelp reviews. Could not have been happier with the dinner we had. We had the Folded Fish (tilapia) Tacos and the Octopus Platter as our entrees. If you love octopus this dish, though listed as an appetizer, is for you. There is no skimping on octopus in this dish - you will get your fill. And the avocado and cucumber slices, tomatoes, onion, lemon juice, and chili powder add to the brightness of this cold dish. BTW - many seafood restaurants have at best one octopus offering. This restaurant has no fewer than 4 choices focused on octopus and several more that include it as a mix with other seafood. Lastly, our server was terrific and patient in explaining the menu options to us. read more

There aren't a lot of non-fast food options in Yuma, which is often the stop on the way in or out of California. We were pleasantly surprised to find this place which is actually really decent for the area, but compared to other Mexican seafood places could use some work. Service is not the greatest, speed of food is decent. The Nachos were good, but they were skimpy on the salsa. There are only two bathrooms for the whole place and they are always occupied, be prepared for a big wait. The location itself is very run down, the inside they have tried to revamp. We tried the toritos which everyone raves about - and they were ok. My biggest issue is there wasn't much in the way of filling, it was basically fried corn bread, pepper and a little smattering of cheese and shrimp (they were nearly non-existant). I'm not sure if the toritos normally have more filling and we were just unlucky, but I wouldn't order them again or recommend them based on what we had. The fish tacos were good, but the fish was a little on the greasy side - and greasy in terms of an expectation of what fried is already. I would definitely try the grilled fish taco instead if I visited again. The coconut shrimp throughout the menu were paired with lots of carbs and sides and we just wanted the shrimp. Apparently you can order the shrimp separately and they work out to about $2 each which is steep considering the location of the restaurant. It's not that the shrimp weren't delicious but they should work out to about $1-1.50 each in my opinion at most. Sauces served wit the coconut shrimp were delicious and I also think it should be part of the appetizer menu. If you're looking for a sit down restaurant in Yuma that serves decent Mexican food this is probably as good as it's going to get. I was at this restaurant with my kids and friend yesterday and was very shocked with some of their prices. The food was average. My daughter and son ordered kids meals and before I even had time to look at the menu I noticed they were $9.25 and $8.25. The chicken strip kids meal came with 2 small strips and since she wanted rice they substituted it for $1 more! So I paid a total of $10.25 for 2 strips of chicken, never ever have I paid that much money for such little amount of food. My daughter was left hungry after this. Nice place in Yuma, I found on the way back home from California. it's a modern take on a Mariscos restaurant and they do a nice job. I had a premium dish called the Molcajete that had lots of different seafood and spicy broth. Served cold. Very refreshing. I ordered the grilled shrimp salad and was told it would be about 10-15 minutes to wait. I went to the restroom (clean and nice) and sat on the bench for all of two minutes before my food was ready to go in a nice handled bag. I knew it would be a minute until I would get to eat my meal and was worried it might not be so good later - but really there was nothing to fear! The salad was really good even two hours later. Everything was delicious but I especially love the shrimp ceviche tostada and homemade chips and salsa. On my second visit I decided to branch out and get the shrimp cocktail with avocado on top. I enjoyed it but there was quite a bit of lime juice in there, for my personal liking. It is probably a chef's discretion on how much they add each time. I could go back again and probably love it if there wasn't as much lime juice. I also ordered a Torito and loved it! We will definitely return again!
