The waiter was very friendly and attentive to our needs. As far as food goes, we had a bit of everything. My husband ate the fish tacos (salmon, and 2-3 other fish tacos on the menu) he ordered a variety and the kids had some too. I had the fish ceviche and I was so glad I did. We even tried the broth soup and were pleasantly surprised by the delicious flavor. We don't have plans to come back to Yuma but if we ever do, we will definitely go back to Mariscos Mar Azul!! read more

HOLY CRAP THIS PLACE! Eat here! - Clean, fresh, gorgeous, busy [on a Thursday night] - Friendly staff, on it, hustled - Toritos are a GREAT app. They serve it with a soy sauce...don't need it. Eat them straight up. - I wanted to try the Garlic Butter Shrimp AND Coconut Shrimp...they were able to do half and half for me! Awesome! - I hate peel and eat shrimp, but the Garlic Butter Shrimps were TOTALLY worth the effort. Let them cool for a second and they peel easier. - The Coconut Shrimp were hand tossed and the coconut REALLY came through - The little side salad and cilantro/buttery rice were great sides - salad automatically came with ranch - The meal also came with tortillas, I got flour. The Al pastor fish tacos were really good too but I took a video of them instead of a pic so it's the only thing that's missing from the pics posted. A lot of people say this place is expensive but I didn't think so. All the items posted below + 3 al pastor fish tacos all came to $73. Been in Yuma 28yrs...have never eaten here! Appears to be the place to be. Beer was cold food was great. Chips and salsa to start- Excellent on both counts. Oyster shooter, coulda had 5 or 7 more. Wife had fish tacos breading was a bit much but otherwise good. Cold seafood plate was outstanding! All the seafood tasted fresh, lime juice with chili powder added to the meal! Recently went there and one of my many visits to this restaurant. I have been going there since probably it opened. I always get the clam chowder first because I love clam chowder. We did order the fish tacos, which were excellent. It's a little expensive, but it's a great place to eat and they have lots of seafood. Which is rare in Yuma. So I recommend this place. It is a very different sort of place for Mexican Food. Which is nice. The ceviche is always good and a favorite. The service was good and it's a nice small restaurant that's local with good food. On the way home from San Diego we look ahead into Yuma using Yelp and spot this place. Reviews mostly look good, so we come in. First, the dishes are pretty pricey. I was a bit surprised, but thought that maybe their food is good enough that locals are willing to pay that much. I opted for tacos. One asada, one "gobernador" (marlin), and one grilled fish. The asada taco was really good. Nice flavor. The "gobernador" I couldn't really taste the marlin. It had an OK Mexican flavor to it, but they could have just as easily put chicken in it and I wouldn't have been able to tell. The grilled fish taco also had OK flavor, and I could taste the fish a little bit more than in the gobernador. My wife had the clam chowder. I got to try it. It was mediocre. Not bad, but really not that great either. The sourdough bowl was a reasonably good sourdough, though it would have been nice if they had saved the bread when they hollowed-out the bowl and given it to us. Daughter had ceviche. The flavor was fine (I tried a bite), but within a couple of hours she was starting to have stomach problems. Correlation isn't causation, but I did note at least one other reviewer had a similar complaint here. All in all, underwhelming. Service was pretty good. The young lady was very friendly and helpful. But I don't think I would make a point of returning here. I was on the fence between 2-stars and 3-stars, but since I don't particularly want to come back if we are in Yuma again I don't see how I can go with 3-stars. Delicious. Everything is homemade. You have to pay for the chips and salsa. However they come out hot, with Tahine on them. At first I'm disappointed because they taste salty but then I started craving them. My salmon salad was delicious as was my husband's cheese quesadilla. This restaurant offers a higher end Mexican food then enchiladas, rice and beans. I don't know what the past reviews we're talking about the napkins. They were fine paper napkins. read more

Mar Azul is an excellent place for mariscos. Tonight I had the shrimp Agua Chile with black sauce. It was quite spicy and I was glad I have the cucumbers and tomatoes to cool off my mouth. My wife's favorite is the fish tacos. They are addictive. The wait staff is friendly and efficient and the restaurant is clean and bright. On our way to San Diego we found this little pearl of a place to have a quick and very savory lunch. The shrimp tacos were yummy as were the fish tacos. The male server couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. We had a senior with us and he was exceptionally patient with her. Sorry to say there are no minus stars! We were extremely disappointed especially after reading the numerous positive reviews. The carne asada was dried out, flavorless and lacking the listed condiments. 3 in our party all shared the same opinion. The fish and chips fish was greasy and not very flavorful. We also had calamari which was actually pretty good. Also of note, our takeout order included no ketchup or utensils and a drink that was ordered and paid for was left out.
