This tiny breakfast joint is the best place for patisseries, desserts and sandwiches! I stop by sometimes - usually on sundays when I'm too lazy to make breakfast or to get stuff for an afternoon tea at home! They are a bit pricy though so be prepared to splurge a bit :)

Hot chocolate (sorry, it was better looking and super full before I had a third of it). Gorgeous choice of different types of chocolates too

Lovely service, the two ladies are very nice and helpful. Wonderful choice of pastries and delicacies of all sorts. Excellent hot chocolate, with many real chocolates to choose from! Got a box of 10 small fine pastries for like 40$, that's a deal! Love the rustic atmosphere and plenty of seating. Music playlist was super cute, old school songs like The Beatles, The Penguins and Elvis, made me want to sing along. Got the punch card for all hot beverages (coffee, tea and hot chocolate), get the 7th free. I figured "What do I have to lose?", it doesn't expire, it's got 5 rows so you can keep it for a while. Great place, will return soon!

This was my first stop during my 'fête des croissants' tour. Despite it being a tiny corner shop, they do have seating inside and even boast a lovely terrace. While they have a fair selection of artisanal baked goods and pastries, sandwiches, as well as chocolates and macarons, I only sampled the croissant. And I was disappointed. Perhaps those with a more refined palette would disagree, but the exterior wasn't crispy and I thought it could be more buttery. Service was very friendly, and I certainly won't rule out a return trip to sample the other goodies.

I discovered Bar a Beurre in the Old Port several years ago and was happy when I heard they opened…read moretheir second location in Griffintown earlier this year. They offer a variety of heavenly treats such as brownies, cookies, macarons and mostly known for their boule a beurre (butter balls) which is a quite unique concept. The place is absolutely adorable and so inviting from the entrance, with the flowers hanging from the ceiling, to the store layout and the bathroom. Every detail is well thought out and so satisfying to the eyes. Let's not think about calories for a moment ;-) I ordered 3 boules aux beurre: Red Velvet, Hazelnut/ Nutella & Celebration. All were tasty and quite rich so if you are ordering more than 1 make sure to share the joy. Staff was really friendly and helpful. If you're in the area, check them out.

The place is ADORABLE and the treats and sweets are as buttery and delicious as they can be. The boule a beurre is for me, a throwback to a childhood treat, as buttery and decadent as can be. The staff is super nice and friendly, they are dog-friendly too - at this point my dog loves coming here as much as I do, as he always gets some of their amazing dog treats. The chocolatine (or pain au chocolat for French native speakers) is by far, and hands down the best I had in my 4 years in Montreal.
