I know, I am THAT guy, but I only spent the day here as a cruise excursion. It's okay, I'm cool with the passive aggressive eye rolls, all good. As someone just intruding on the property, I was really impressed and spent most of the day thinking about coming back to actually stay on site. The grounds are beautiful, staff was exceptional, and in our half day, we had a really good time. I can't imagine the rooms/suites would be terrible when the rest of the grounds seemed to be so we'll taken care of (at least what we saw). Pools are large and access to the beach is lovely. Couldn't have had a better spot to spend a day. Take this with a grain of salt if you're looking for a legit review from someone who's stayed more than 4-5 hours, but it definitely served the purpose we needed it for. read more

We spent a week at Marival Emotions in January of 2026, and here is my honest review: this is not a 5-star luxury resort, but for a family vacation, it really delivered. First, the room: 10/10. We booked a two-bedroom ocean view suite and it was bigger than some houses I've lived in. Tons of space, comfortable, and overall very clean. I'd give cleanliness a solid 4/5, we did have an intermittent clogged-drain smell that would come and go, which wasn't ideal, but it wasn't enough to derail the week. The weather was absolutely perfect. Sunshine, warm, breezy- couldn't have been better. This place is GREAT for kids. I only saw one obnoxiously drunk person the entire week (which honestly impressed me), and the overall vibe felt very family-friendly. It was more crowded than I prefer, but it's also pretty inexpensive and popular for families, so that's to be expected. There are three pools: one adults-only (peaceful), one that I would describe as absolute chaos (not my personal favorite), and one that's a happy medium. Pro tip: grab your chairs early if you want a good spot by the pool. There were a lot of abandoned drinks around the pool area, but that feels more like a "people, let's do better" issue than a resort problem. The front desk and reservation workflow definitely need some reworking. There were long waits more than once, and it felt like they might just be understaffed. Patience is helpful here. The food was actually better than I expected. Buffets were fair, the restaurants were good, and no one got sick, which felt like a win. We ate breakfast at La Pergola every morning and loved it. Our waiter was the sweetest. Service is slow, but it's an all-inclusive, so we had nowhere else to be. We did a day at one of the beach clubs and that was amazing. I would never become a member, but it was a perk being able to pop into the beach club since it was included with our suite. That felt like a real upgrade. They offered Mass at noon on Sunday, which we really appreciated. The beach itself is nice, though not the crystal-clear turquoise you might picture. Flags were up every day. Not sure if it was really that risky or more precautionary, but either way, they were clearly cautious. We went sea kayaking one day and the staff was very concerned for our safety, which oddly made me slightly concerned, but we had fun and the water felt very safe to us! I would not stay here for more than 7 days, but vacation is what you make it, and we had a blast. Final thought: tip well. The people who work there work very hard, and it shows. If you go in with realistic expectations, embrace the energy, and remember you're not at a Four Seasons, you will have a great time. Honest Review of Marival Emotions I truly believe that a vacation is what you make of it and overall we did have a great time. That said, here is my honest review. The good: The resort itself is beautiful and very family friendly. The pool and water slides were a perfect size and so much fun for the kids (aged 2 and 4). Everything for children was great and my kids absolutely loved the food options available to them. The concierge service was exceptional and truly went above and beyond, especially when our airline lost our bags. They were hands down the best part of the experience. My son loved the mini golf and my daughter like the playground. We also enjoyed the shows. We wanted to do bikes but we ran out of time! There was so much to do. The food highlights: The Silk Restaurant was absolutely amazing and honestly saved the resort for us. Some of the best Asian food I have had. The pizza and pasta were also delicious (wish this was open all day not just at 5) I did have Burria tacos at the Mexican restaurant that were good, but that was pretty much the only standout there. The bad: The Italian restaurant was completely inedible and honestly disgusting. We went 2 times just to be sure. And the use this bizarre ragu tasting sauce in every dish. The buffet was not good at all and I barely ate there. Breakfast was also a big disappointment. For lunch, the options were very limited and you can only eat so many hamburgers and hot dogs. I really wish there were more lunch options. I was especially disappointed in the lack of good mexican. There was no guacamole, no salsa, and no taco options at lunch. For a resort in Mexico, this was a big miss. The desserts were also strange and not enjoyable. The staff overall did not feel very warm or accommodating, with the exception of the concierge team and the housekeeping! Compared to other all inclusive resorts I have stayed at, the service did not go the extra mile. Another reason I would pick somewhere else I was disappointed there was not a babysitting option for my 2 year old. That would have been nice to have at least 1 sit down meal alone with my husband. Also the rental equipment is only from 9 to 12. And they wouldn't let my 4 year old kayak. Overall: I would rate this resort a 3 out of 5. We had a great vacation, but I would not choose to come back unless there was an exceptional deal. The food alone would keep me from returning. This is probably my tenth all inclusive resort, and I would rather pay a little more for consistently better food. I felt like I barely ate most of the trip, which is not what you want from an all inclusive. If you want a beautiful, kid friendly resort and can look past the food, this may work for you. The room was absolutely disgusting when I walked into it. The countertop had about half an inch of dust or dirt or something sticky to the countertop. The floor itself was slick like it had soap on it, but they didn't finish cleaning it off so I slid everywhere I walked, although poolside the noise that came through was so loud and so obnoxious no one could possibly rest in their room. This place was a huge disappointment from start to finish. We came for a wedding that was staying here so we really didn't know what to expect. The only genuinely enjoyable part of our stay was leaving the property and spending even more money elsewhere just to have a decent experience -- which honestly says everything. We even chose to leave for the airport early on our last day just to get out of that environment. The staff was consistently unfriendly and unwelcoming. At check-in, we were given little to no information or direction, leaving us confused and frustrated right away. Basic hospitality was completely missing. So if you do come here just know they have two restaurants and make reservations prior to coming otherwise you'll never get in. Do not come here if you don't speak Spanish. It was very clear that guests who couldn't communicate more than a few sentences in Spanish were treated differently, and the attitude toward us felt dismissive and unwelcoming because of it. Cleanliness was a major issue throughout the stay. Every single time we ordered a drink, the cup we were handed was dirty without exception. It became impossible to ignore. So much so I bought my own cup in their gift store so I could ensure a clean cup. On top of that, the floors were extremely slippery and the rooms were dirty and poorly maintained. Overall, the property felt neglected and poorly cared for. Which is really sad because it seems so beautiful at first. The food was another major letdown. Options were extremely limited, very basic, and at times completely inedible. For an all-inclusive resort, the quality and variety were unacceptable. To make matters worse, there is a bar located in the middle of the resort that is not included in the all-inclusive package. Even after offering to pay for drinks, we were abruptly and rudely asked to leave. The way this was handled was embarrassing and incredibly unprofessional. We booked an all-inclusive expecting comfort and convenience, but instead spent our vacation disappointed, uncomfortable, and frustrated, ultimately paying more money just to enjoy ourselves off-property. Marival Emotions is an ocean-front resort that has a beach with soft, clean sand. The hotel has almost 500 rooms and suites. Restaurants include a buffet, snack bar, bars, and the Capriccio beach club. Recreational activities include a swimming pool, gym, bicycling, water sports, tennis court, bungee trampoline, and mini golf. Entertainment include shops and a theater. The resort also has a spa. I visited this resort while I was on a cruise, and I upgraded my shore excursion for $20 to get VIP treatment at the Capriccio beach club. At the Capriccio, a concierge named Marcos served my husband and me. He found lounge chairs on an uncrowded section of the beach, and he set up umbrellas to block the sun. He took our order for free alcoholic beverages and offered to serve us food from a menu. Marcos and his fellow employee were very nice, and he regularly checked in with us. He said courteous words such as "thank you" and "have a great day." My husband and I enjoyed the beach very much. The section of beach near the Capriccio had fewer customers, so we could peacefully watch and listen to the ocean waves. We did eat a meal at a restaurant. The waitress did not speak English well, but she brought out the correct food, and she was polite. Our appetizer was guacamole and chips, and both my husband and I ate ceviche for our entrees. The food tasted good. I deducted one star from my review because many, many local people frequently approached my husband and me to ask us to buy their crafts and other goods. I would have preferred that they not approach us so often. Sections of the beach did have buildings for shops, and there I bought a souvenir for a reasonable price. Because I was a visitor, I did not see the interior of the hotel rooms. I wrote a long review about this place and, for the first time, learned it's possible to write too much! Yelp denied my post so this review may have "poor writing". Going to add as much as possible without going over. Almost turned down this place b/c of all the reviews. Many said the food sucked. We had low expectations. Kids love pizza & fries so I figured you can't go wrong w/ that. We loved this place so much we're coming back again every year. The place was busy and everyone seemed happy! Food: I love chilaquiles and eggs Benedict. They had both and it didn't disappoint. I wish they served breakfast all day. I'm vegetarian so breakfast is just so much easier for me. They had vegetarian options at the buffets but it's mostly fruits, roasted veggies, salad bar, pasta, eggs, pastries, and I can't think of what else. They have different nights with different cultures, they even offered veggie rolls in oriental nights. Simple but it's something. I can't have garlic or onions so it was kind of slim pickin's for me. The pasta itself had garlic so I couldn't even make my own sauce with butter and salt or something. They may have been able to do something for me but I didn't want to bother. They have other restaurants included for the all you could eat but it requires reservations and when I looked at the menu, it was very minimal for vegetarian options. So I just filled myself up with what they had at the buffet. For families, buffet was a great option so the kids don't lose their patience waiting for food. The food could take some time at the restaurants where you order your food off the menu. Overall it was pretty good even for a vegetarian. Again, I wish they had breakfasts available in the menu all day. Kids club:I'm honestly not sure what to expect for kids clubs. It wasn't phenomenal when you first enter. But then again I was on a cruise and it didn't seem phenomenal there either. I'm just thankful they had a kids club, they have activities for the kids to do, and they look out for the kiddos. I saw how they reacted when kids strayed away from the group or when a parent stepped away for a second. They took over and became responsible for the kids. The parents didn't even ask them to do that or told them that they were stepping away. They just automatically took over. . (You could leave your kids or hang out with/follow them for the activities). So I really respected that. They have TV on with a movie. They have painting, toys, crafts, bracelet making, etc. They had a pirate adventure with a treasure hunt. It was super cute. They dressed up the kids and ran all over the resort and even had a floatie boat to pull each kid in the water. They really went all out. Teen club: they have a room for kids to play arcade games (not sure if you have to pay for each game yourself. I assumed so). They had board games, pool table, football, etc. They even had a tennis court, miniature golf, and you could even rent bikes to explore Nuevo Puerto Vallarta. Basically all hotels though. Entertainment: some nights were great. Some were just karaoke night. My favorite was magician night. They were great. But their personal dancers were great too. Drinks: my husband says it's watered down but hey it's all you can drink and extra water is good for you :) Our room was great. Our maid was the cutest. Loved her. The pull out couch wasn't very comfortable and was really loud so any shifting at night woke you up. I understand the negative reviews of many hotels when they say the room and sheets feel moist and smell wet. The room didn't feel like that especially upon entering. But after coming in and out with wet clothes from the pool and beach and the humid weather, everything feels moist and wet. So you can't blame the hotels for that. I loved that they had a little stool for kids to reach the counter. They even provided a clothes rack to put outside to hang all of your wet clothes. That was awesome. They stock the fridge with drinks and water when you arrive . I see them restock them in other rooms but not mine even though we stayed for a week. Not sure what the diff was. Checking in/out was good. No one pestered us to buy anything but they gave us options. Kitchen/restaurant staff were great. It wasn't not top notch but it was pretty close. You can just tell a few were tired or jaded, but I don't blame them. I don't think there were many rooms with a bad view. Mostly all the rooms had a great view. They even had water dispensers on each floor. The gym was good. They don't let you take food out or bring it to your rooms. Which sucks but I get it. It definitely keeps the roaches away, which I appreciate. There are a ton of insects here, but I don't think you could avoid that anywhere. I found many more dead than alive and I didn't see any roaches so we're good. Different pools with different depths. Some w/ water slides for kids. One adult Only pool. All warm. Spa massage good. We would not recommend to our friends and family and will not be coming back. Unsafe room for young children, it had an extremely low balcony on high floor. The front desk was unwilling to relocate us and said they could move us for an additional $350 dollars a night! Inside Kids club room was under construction. Multiple restaurants were closed. Front desk staff and concierge were not able to answer basic questions about the resort and activities going on (poor understanding of English). Facilities are run down and our room had multiple issues (broken fridge that was never fixed, we had medicine that needed to be kept cold that went bad) Light/fan in our bedroom downstairs had a remote that didn't work but would randomly go on/off. Rm 7110. If you like guacamole don't come here, there was none!! Great staff in the Italian/steak house restaurant and Kids loved the water slides. We enjoyed the food in those two restaurants as well. Front desk and concierge were not nice and NOT welcoming. Bell men and pool staff were great! Front desk and concierge need MAJOR hospitality training and need to be welcoming to all guests. This is not a 4/5 star resort, no clue how they get the rating they have. Marival - The Resort of Broken Promises!!! They stole from our room, change the tip amounts after signing the bill and then threaten me with charging me more when we say we don't want to come back. We feel unsafe going here now. Instead of making things right, they threaten and ignore. So disappointed with this!! Manuel called me from Net centre's threatening me with 30% surcharge for not coming back.. Do not go here. They recently sent me an invoice for maintenance fees. I told them we are not paying the maintenance fees. Someone from Marival reached out and wanted to offer me something to change my mind. I have waited 3 weeks for their call, nobody has called. This is perfect example of the lack of follow through at these Marival resorts. They simply just don't give a S$#T about their members. Do not purchase here! Oh. And another thing. When they were forcing us to listen to the membership options, the host completely insulted my wife asking her if she was pregnant. Just ignorant, thats not your mission! Thanks for calling me back Marival. You care about your members forsure. Marival Does not care about their members. We have decided to start going other places than Mexico now. Nobody has even reached out. We have been coming to Marival with our membership for over 10 years. Staying at Emotions and Distinct. This is the second time we have stayed at Marival Distinct. We definitely had a few issues this time. The positive was that most of the staff was friendly and the resort is very clean. The food at Mozza Mare Beach club is really amazing. We used 2 years worth of points to book the Penthouse with a private plunge pool. This time we had some items go missing from the private pool area while we were not up there. We assumed this area was secure as it is directly above our room, we learned otherwise after the first day. It's a guess as to when the beach restaurant Mozza Mare is open for dinner. Sometimes there were events going on and your plans to go for dinner have to change. Walk all the way to the beach club to realize it is closed to all inclusive members. We were only able to eat dinner here twice during our stay. The final kicker was when we went to check out and we surprisingly owed more money than expected (Manuel changed the tip after signing). It appears the servers are changing the tip amounts on the bills. We typically use cash however a couple times we had forgot the cash in the room and chose this option. Crazy thing was that another couple was checking out at the exact same time and discovered the exact same issue. It appears multiple servers are changing tip amounts on the bill after you have signed. This was extremely disappointing as we love staying at Marival. The front staff apologized however it was apparent that this wasn't the first time this had happened. There was no manager to talk to, therefore I am leaving this review. We absolutely made the most of our holiday, and the staff was very friendly. Our membership is just not worth anything anymore. They seem to change the rules and limit access to certain things we had access to before. We were forced to sit through the check in and listen to why we should upgrade our membership. After all day traveling we are just not interested in being forced to listen to the check-in clerk try to make a commission. I told her no over and over again. I am not sure we will be back to Marival. There are so many options and this is just falling short. Ok so we just came back after spending 7 days at Marival Emotions so will try to be not biased and transparent. Let's start on a positive note: Pros: 1. It's compact. You don't have to walk miles from room to buffet. 10 mins is enough to walk around. 2. Amenities. It's not top notch gym but still is equipped with lifter stuff. Teens room is also pretty cool 3. Price/value ? I guess it's fair to say you get what you pay for compared to to higher class hotels 4. Kids entertainment- every night they have mini contests for little ones or like a beach party. Kids love it Now let's jump to less fun part. Cons: 1. From second u step into hotel you feel segregation. Members are treated much better and they try to sell you that right after check in - they will tell u to go to presentation and in exchange I'll get either upgraded room or some tickets 2. Food - it's not bad, you won't be hungry but it's not a gourmet show either. Desserts are super basic and breakfasts are always same 3. Service - that is probably the biggest issue with this hotel. In 7 days we tipped once - nobody even tried to work for that tip. Many times I would just go and get coffee or drinks by myself. 4. Cleaning - I'm 50/50 on that. They do clean nicely but they do it between 3pm and 4pm which is nap time for some people, so we were often left with messy beds. 5. Beach. It's nice and clean and they do have wave boards which is a lot of fun. But you can't really lay and chill, merchants would walk by you every 3-5 minutes offering massage, jewelry etc. also after 2-3pm non hotel residents come and set up their umbrellas there where space is already limited :/ So overall it's not bad for $ but if u can pay more and find better spot I would do that. read more

I absolutely LOVE this all-inclusive resort!!! Super amazing staff, and the family games and adult games are the best! The 4 pools have different vibes for everyone, whether you're here as a couple, here to enjoy as a family, or looking to relax in retirement lifestyle, there's fun for everyone! The rooms are always spacious with kitchenettes, they refill the mini fridge every morning. They fully clean your rooms and bathrooms, and you can't beat the view! From tennis courts, to pickleball court, to mini golf, to the kids club. So much to do! And the beach access is just a step away! After coming here for 7 years now, it's the only place I would go for all-inclusive! The food at the fancy restaurants is top notch! The staff is so professional and the animation team is outstanding! The nightclub is for those late night people who love to get down late at night! This hotel is an all inclusive, but you must carefully consider which level is for you as there are places you are not allowed if you don't have the right wristband. Check-in is a zoo, front desk is slow because of all the steps they have you go through. So be prepared to wait to get checked in. The rooms are fairly clean, but the signs that say they are sanitized are suspect. The floors were gritty and there was dust in many places. The soaps and towels were nice, not old used towels, but pretty new towels. The sink is a little weird, the placement of the faucet didn't work well for me. The pools were nice, the adults only pool was a nice touch, as it was quiet around those. The Casa Bella buffet was nominal. The presentation of the food was nice, but the food nominal. They promise a massage for 2 to attend a 90 minute seminar. But they try with multiple people to convince you. After I said no they got aggressive and rude. No Resort , or Hotel, or destination is going to b perfect. This is a massive resort, catering to families, people from ALL walks of life , from ALL over the world ! I think, as a first timer, it was pretty close to perfect. A lot of times, your experience is because of your mood, or your expectations, or both. We tipped everyone and every time ! The staff on average make approx. $1. to maybe @ 2. per hour. I think its easy to just forget how much work and how much effort it takes to run a resort this size and such high volumes and make it all seem seamless. My only big concern, is that all that food, is sitting out at room temperature, and there are NO hand washing stations in and around the buffet stations. Even hand sanitizer stations would b better than nothing. Lets face it kids do not always wash their hands after using the bathroom. My kids, and their kids went for the first time with us, and they just loved it. I would have preferred if the show's in the evening time, were a little earlier . We go to bed early. Anyways, it was a great week of family time together. My partner did get violently ill on the last day, and 2 of the kids were down for the count. read more

Pros: The staff you interact with daily was great. Whether at the pool, bar or eating, they were friendly and professional. The pool is nice enough and the kids area is great for the young ones. Cons: Just when you think you successfully avoided the timeshare people exiting the airport, they pretty much do the same. When you check in, they make you sit on the side and you think they're gonna inform you about the resort, but instead they try to get you to go to some meeting the next morning so you can become a member. Like really? I just got here. Here's where they were cruel, it's 3pm, I have at 1 and 3 year old who are hungry and they're pushing me to sign a form so I'll show up tomorrow and I can get a nicer room because mine is terrible and not renovated. I'm like no I'm good, and they keep pushing, telling me to talk to my wife and come on this is obvious or if yoh pay more youll get a nicer room. After about 20 minutes of this I eventually relent as my kids are crying and pay an extra $160 for the "upgrade." The upgrade is a pretty dingy room with a crooked loose bathroom sink, stained sheets and generally dirty room. There were eyelashes on the counter from a prior guest. The safe had a low battery and after calling twice asking to get it fixed we gave up and kept our valuables in our locked briefcase. The topper, I found a bed bug on one of our beds on our last day. The food was poor as well, and even eating fries requires you sit down. Let's say you're by the pool and hungry, well you can't just grab some fries, you have to go line up, wait to be seated, then you can eat some fries. Now the pizza is just plain terrible. They have these great ovens, but use nasty precooked dough and the cheese is not mozzarella, not sure what it was, but tasted terrible. read more

This was my first time in PV so I am comparing this hotel to ones I've stayed at in Playa Del Carmen. Pros: 15 minute drive from the airport (about $12 US for 4 people) 3 Large Pools SPACIOUS SUITES! The hotel reserved a speciality restaurant by the beach for the reception. They included a dance floor, DJ, and of course an open bar. There were fireworks for the couples first dance. They will give you a day in the VIP/owner area during your stay. I highly recommend that you do this. The food was by far the best, especially the fish tacos. Otherwise we were a little frustrated about the boogie boards not being available half the time due to "manta rays". They close the rentals down when they see them in the water due to "guest safety". My kids were already playing in the water and the boogie boards were not going to make anything more dangerous. Anyway, would recommend it for families. read more

This place is pretty amazing! Staff is very professional, hard working and courteous! Saul our bell boy was such a hard worker! Adriana our day maid was amazing she left a new designed bow on our bed everyday. Must reserve restaurants right when you arrive. Aqua aerobics and free bike tour is a must. Free city bus tour and tequila tasting is a cant miss. Kevin one of the waiters was so sweet and attentive. Cesar our waiter at the beach treated us like royalty he works very hard!!!! Omelet lady at La Bamba was the only angry bird I saw on site she was very harsh but her omelet was good so oh well Everyone else was just amazing. The place seemed to be cleaned and well kept 24/7! Building 3 had the best views but steps only so the 3rd floor everyday helped burn some calories:) Swim up bars was fun. Lime scooters was useful. Free bike rentals was fun. Too many beach vendors but it's expected. We did get bit by some kind of beach bugs and bit by jelly fish but all minor things that had nothing to do with the hotel. read more

THERE ARE BED BUGS AT MARIVAL PV NOVEMBER 2023! We arrived at Marival Emotions November 3rd, 2023. We spent one night there and upgraded to Distinct on November 4th (Room #325) and stayed through November 13th. The last couple of nights we noticed bites all over our bodies and assumed they were mosquito bites. We arrived home on the evening of Nov 13th. That evening we were both up all night with uncontrollable itching. The next morning we searched through our luggage and we both found bed bugs in our suitcases. We immediately called an exterminator and they sent a bed bug sniffing dog. The dog detected bugs in 3 spots in our home. On Nov 14th we contacted our sales rep Roman at Distinct and asked who to contact. At his direction on we emailed: gerente.general.distinct@marivalresorts.com, chief.habitaciones.distinct@marivalresorts.com customer.experience.manager@marivalresorts.com.mx We still have not had any response from them as far as confirmation that they have taken action to mitigate the situation or any response about compensation for our out of pocket expenses for this problem we are still suffering from. The process to eliminate the bugs is still ongoing and it's been a nightmare. They don't always go away after one treatment. It's been 3 weeks and we are still getting new bites! I was surprised that none of the reviews I read prior to our stay mention Marival is a timeshare based resort. They call it a "membership" but it's the same as a timeshare and they push it hard. It's super disappointing that we are locked into a very expensive 15 year commitment with a company that won't even acknowledge our emails on such a serious matter as bed bugs!!! BE AWARE! read more

Someone went through all my family's room and stole $10,000 pesos from all of our stuff the front staff just said "hey you should've used the safe" beautiful place but don't like the fact that I have to be worried whether my stuffs gonna get stolen I'm not especially after how much we paid we got two suites and 15 of us were traveling, so wasn't our best vacation and will never go again read more

Its not all inclusive , they charge for room service and do not restock the fridge. Rooms are not properly clean and reuse bed sheets and towels during whole stay. Not worth it at all. read more

I'd say 4 stars because of the incredible service, hospitality, and staff but 2 stars for the food! With an all-inclusive resort, it's known that the food won't be as good since the hotel isn't making too much money on that, but the buffet place was quite atrocious at times with the meals. Coming here as an American, I was really looking forward to having delicious Mexican food but was a bit let down. I got food poisoning the first two days from the buffet place, but the rest of the places were really great! There aren't many options for white meat eaters or vegetarians as most places have seafood or red meat. There are plenty of fruits, desserts, and salads however. The staff was very kind and hospitable and saved the rating of my review, so much better than American hospitality, wow!!! We planned all our activities through the concierge desk and highly recommend the Extreme ocean adventure and the scuba diving session! Both are on the shorter side of the excursions but so worth it!! The hotel fees are reasonable and sometimes include insurance. We had a scuba lesson with Ana, who was awesome and gave us a great informative lesson. JC Corona was also a great host!! The drinks at every single bar were amazing and made strong! Americans could really take note from how the Mexicans party!! The resort is in a really safe and nice area, with plenty of families coming here. I wish I had known that beforehand, but it was still a brilliant time. The nightclub that they have within the resort is closed as a side note. The checkin and checkout process was smooth and also, definitely take the taxis through the hotel!! The drivers know the areas and are super nice and surprisingly have really great rates when compared to Uber or other taxis. Our room was a queen standard bed, with two bathrooms which was interesting, but definitely plenty of space. The AC is much needed due to the humidity, and they had two in the room which was great. I'd say overall, a fun experience but one to have primarily for families, not for friends! The hospitality was amazing, food was below average, drinks were amazing, staff was friendly. The room smelled moist. The bathroom arrangement is a little odd. The food is So so. The outside food by the pool was kinda gross. The chips with nacho cheese tasted like plastic and the corn was old and tasted really gross. The chicken nuggets were not real chicken and were NASTY. Would we come back, probably not. The look of the hotel is really nice. Everyone who works here is really nice. Most of the employees speak English which is a plus. The Italian(not so Italian) restaurant was good. The buffet was good. The deserts were not that great. Tapioca pudding is supposed to be pudding not soup-y and no flavor. The deserts had a weird frozen/plastic taste. *****Beware!!! I'm so disappointed. I had been here previously like 5 times in span of 20 years. Has definitely lost its class & beauty. Food is bad. Staff always so kind. But things are so slow. We reserved 2 suites and my sisters 2 room keys didn't work. We couldn't make reservations for any restaurant bc they were booked which is ridiculous when it's not peak season and they didn't care. Also the wifi & cable didn't work for 1-2 days. When traveling with kids that's not good!! I would not come back here again and would not recommend to anyone. read more

Charged us $1,200 more when we got there because we charged one child instead of one "junior", which is age 13-17, but charged a 16 year old as an adult which is 18+ but still gave him a junior wristband. Only 1 working washer and 1 working dryer. The gym is completely covered with rust and is falling apart. Extremely rude staff, were not willing to cooperate with us at all. Would definitely not recommend to anybody who wants a nice and relaxing vacation. read more

beware and do not come to this resort. infested with cockroaches and of course they will deny deny deny!!!! our second day here, it was the 4th cockroach found in our room. the first 3 were squished by our shoes, didn't think too much of it , the 4th was found on the bed. my boyfriend and i took the one we got on the bed to them.... they basically called us liars and told us they could not do anything about it. nothing. they really said, "the cockroach you guys brought us looks dry and like it has been dead for days". there shouldn't be any roaches here anyways!!! we killed it and they said that!? no upgrade. no reimbursement, and they said they could give us the days we didn't stay here and be on our way??? on our way to where??? i don't live here!!!! ? where am i supposed to go!? everything was already payed for , my flights, everything! they did nothing. i asked for a manager and they couldn't even provide me with someone in charge, christina attended us and she sent someone else to tell us that there was nothing that could be done. i didn't accept that, and then 2 minutes later she showed up, meaning she just didn't want to deal with us. so unprofessional of christina. i was going to make it a 3rd time to come next year, but absolutely not. save your money and time and do not come here!!!!!' please take it from me, go somewhere where if a situation happens like this, they won't give you a hard time to find a solution for you. they did nothing about the situation but call us liars and tell us to either stay or leave. i will never return here again and i wont be recommending this place ever again to any of my people anymore. we are extremely offended to have been called lairs to our face, when we were the ones that brought it to them. do not come to this cockroach infested resort. they ruined my birthday and anniversary. read more

The resort itself is clean, beautiful and well managed. Food and the room were top notch. my only negative comments are for the baristas at the Starbucks on the resort and the resort gift shop. The Starbucks kept over charging my daughters. The drinks were supposed to be $4 but every time they bought one they would hand over a $20 only receiving $8 back in pesos. my daughters understand the conversion and realized the barista was charging them double. The wan would argue and would rather not get the business than provide correct change. just don't go to Starbucks in the resort. The gift shop...I went in to buy tampons and some diet soda. Again they tried to over charge me for everything. There is a resort fee for enuthjng paid in cash according to the lady in the shop. So basically they charge you double if you pay in is dollars. I returned the soda to the shelf and said I only wanted to buy the tampons, which was a regular price. Then they forced me to buy the soda because I touched it. So I had to pay $5 us for a can of Diet Coke that o didn't even want. The workers were extremely rude and blocked the door if I didn't but the can. So I bought the can and the tampons for $10 us. I would go back to this resort but never step foot in the Starbucks or gift shop. There are stores a $3 cab ride away to buy these items. read more

By far the worst experience. I am well aware they have a dress code and I cannot go into a restaurant with just a swimsuit on. I was wearing pants and my biking top which was very much appropriate. Before I was sat I was asked if I had a shirt I could wear if not I can't be sat.... Lol seriously? So if it wasn't bikini material it could've been approved bc it was a cropped top? As my family and I were walking out she said we could sit outside and one of my family members can get food for me. Last time I ever go to any Marival place. This was just the cherry on top to the many stupid things I faced this whole trip in their facilities. read more

This is the worst hotel stay I have had out of the country I have been to 5 other country and 10 other out of the country hotels. My wife and I were treated like lower than lower class... we booked with Hotwire they lied about what the room looked like an the fact that it was a "suite" Then we got there and they tried putting my wife and I in double beds and we booked a Jr. Suite ocean view... not what they gave us then 1hr later they gave us a king bed standard room... 1hr later they had us calm Hotwire to check the reservation... Hotwire didn't help long story short. They they gave us a "Suite ocean view 3hrs later and just look at the pictures.. they trip was only for 2 nights by the way. The service was like no other... black ppl gay ppl and Americans be warned this is not the hotel you want to be at in a vacation The management reaches out today via yelp and almost one year later, saying I chose the room with mold thank you. Would give 0 stars for the service. Have had a great stay in the past. This time, we had the worst service from check in to check out. Check in was an absolute nightmare! Food took forever to get. At one point I had to wait 2 hours for our meal. We had to call room service multiple times to remind them of things. I had a spa day and was overcharged for services when I checked my bank statement, the staff was also talking bad about customers in the waiting room. The one good thing was that the rooms were very clean. Next time will stay somewhere else. read more

Overall, would we return? No. But did we feel it met the price of $200/ night for two people? Yes. Food: 2/5 A) Restaurants with reservations were excellent! B) Buffet food wasn't good - even compared to other all-inclusives. It was the first time we stayed at all all-inclusive and considered going out for dinner. Room: 3/5 A) We got two double beds although we requested a king. B) Our balcony faced the outside of the property, and all you could see was another building - so absolutely no view. C) The room was extremely musky - it smelled wet all the time, and the sheets smelled just as bed. It's not fun sleeping in moist bed. But the front desk told us all the rooms are like that from humidity. Room, bathroom: 4/5 A) Nice and clean and modern! But as other reviews point out, there's no privacy with the frosted glass Pools: 4/5 A) Great - but like other resorts, forget getting a chair after 9. By 9:30 everything is covered with a towel. B) Enjoyed the quiet pool with the exception of the children's trampoline right next to it. (Doesn't make a ton of sense) Beach area: 4/5 A) If you can get a spot on the right hand side with the tiki umbrellas, you will get a table in between your chairs and a beautiful view of the beach Lobby & surrounding facilities: 5/5 A) Beautiful. Overall: 2/5 - No free Wifi - No 24-hour snack access (I would even be willing to pay) - There were 2 cages containing beautiful birds in front of the theater. Avoid like the plague! Will get you to buy timeshare and when they had in house theft - stole 1200 of our money refused to make any arrangements for compensation. Would have simply wanted my fees credited since they were at blame. They avoided my calls , got several answers of will get back to you and nothing. Then told us pay the back fees and all would be up to date. Not so! 26,000 paid and they closed the account. So 26,000 of nothing. They said was because we moved, and dis not have address to contact us . Funny how the w2 came... Scam stay away! Also along with this they emailed me with attachment which had 10 other accounts with addresses and account information. But still they did not make good . Would never recommend this place to anyone! The rooms are spacious and we liked that we were on the beach.. other than that. The food is horrible and the service is less than mediocre. They call it all inclusive yet you have to make reservations and when we tried to book our family of six they told us they would have to break us up in tables of twos.. how do you go on vacation yet you can't sit with your family for dinner. Why even have to make reservations?!? It's ridiculous.. there was a rule for that too. You can't call you have to actually to a reservation desk only from 8am to 3pm and what happens if you're on an activity for that day. Too bad so sad. We tried to sit on the beach but nope unless you're an owner you can't sit there. We have been to plenty of other REAL all inclusive and this place is such a joke. We will never return. This is a family friendly resort. Great staff, clean, comfortable, and relaxing! Josefen our waitress was awesome at the m&m bar! Our waiters Carlitos and Erich were the best at la Paloma! Geraldo at the lunchtime buffet was excellent! The staff is very accommodating! Let me say all inclusive does not mean service does not deserve a tip IT DOES! nb: this review is about the Marival Resort, which is the right half of the Marival Resort and Residences. I've heard that the Residences are actually quite nice and not likely represented by my review. When making your reservation make sure you state clearly that you want a room in the Residences, not the Resort! This place is like your favorite dive bar: You love it because the beer is cheap and all your friends are there so you don't care, or notice, when someone barfs all over the "timeless" (aka original) 70's furniture. We were there for a wedding and stayed in room 8102 for 4 nights with our two little kids. I understand that some of the rooms in the main building have been recently remodeled but our room was a tribute to the '70s since clearly nothing has been updated since. Including the air conditioner which leaked buckets of water all over the floor and the in-room safe which required me first to go sign out a metal key at the front desk. But the beer is free. The food was varied, if not dissimilar to the cafeteria food you find at any high school. And the pool was nice enough (if not covered by a thin sheen of spilled pina coladas) however the only jacuzzi was adult-only which conflicts with their pro-kids marketing pitch. But the beer is free. My biggest complaint is that they advertise an "all-inclusive" rate but then charge you for all the standard things you expect to have at a beachside resort (internet, activities, etc). And if you're not interested in the time-share offer up front then you can kiss goodbye any real service from the front desk staff. But the beer is free. Keeping with the theme, the poolside experience is like laying out next to the jukebox. They had a DJ/emcee on the microphone 8 hours per day screaming trivia, pool, and other drinking games in Spanglish, highlighted with frequent piercing whistle-blows into the megaphone, to the point that for my own sanity I had to take a break in search of silence. The speakers strategically placed throughout the property ensure that the only location to avoid the screaming is out in the ocean. When I asked management why they do this I was told that their timeshare owners request this "entertainment". But the beer is free. In summary, this place is great if you're looking to meet up with a bunch of old friends and their kids who will thrash the place while you drink the free beer to wash down your hot dogs. But if like us you're looking for a nice family experience, romantic getaway, or just generally great service then it's better to go find a true resort. read more
