The last 6 haircuts I have gotten previously from other salons have made me very Leary of ever getting a haircut again. (All I have ever asked for were long layers, frame around the face). I've recently transplanted from New Jersey and have had the same person cutting and coloring me for ages! So naturally it is a bit stressful to try to find someone who can continue the same style cut and get to know my curly (often frizzy) headed cowlicked freakish hair. I went to a salon in St Augustine when I first moved here and was not happy with the cut. I ask all the the stylists to please follow the current cut I have and if they can't, I'd rather not have it cut. With my recent experience at the other salon, I had no intention of getting a cut today at Marjan, just a color. But Kristi was awesome! She listened to me and I got the feeling she genuinely wanted to help make me feel comfortable (and not like I was being the annoying, nervous customer that I know I was being) She visually (by showing me the angles I currently have vs what she suspects the last stylist did) reassured me that she knew exactly what she was doing! I felt so at ease with her cutting me I almost went for a completely different style than what I have - THAT'S HOW MUCH I TRUSTED HER! (I said I almost got a different style ... Marjan Salon is fantastic. The color correction I received from Sheila today was incredible. She took my grey-green hair and turned it into a masterpiece. It's obvious that all the women there work as a team and are a great crowd. I really watched the other clientele as I say through my process and saw incredible results from all of them so I don't think you could be in bad hands with any of the stylists. However, hats off to my girl Sheila. She gave me a great cut, blow out and repaired my color without frying it. She and Marjan also took the time to listen to what I didn't like about the grey-green mop and looked at pictures with me and took the time to make me feel comfortable with the process and answered questions. BEST CUT & COLOR I have ever had!!!! I am new to the area and did some some research online and found this Salon. The reviews were good so I figured why not give them a try. I booked an appointment online and was able to get in the very next day for a cut and color with Mania. The Salon moved to a new location which is 555 W Granada. It was easy to find with plenty of parking. It was very clean and modern inside. I was greeted as soon as I walked in to welcoming and smiling faces. Everyone was buzzing around laughing and talking as if they were happy to be there. No stress was in the air as some of the other Salons I have visited in the past. Very relaxing with an upbeat atmosphere. My stylist was Mania and she was absolutely amazing. I have very dry thin hair so I am very careful with my color and do not want to run the risk of over processing. Mania listened to me and made some suggestions. I told her that I wanted something easy to maintain and something that I can just style quickly and go. I have literally never been so happy with my cut and color. This is literally the best color and cut I have ever had!!! I highly recommend Mania and I am happy to say I will now become a very loyal client. read more

I've been going to this salon for a year. Unfortunately my stylist took a leave of absence, so I used Marjon. She was awful. My extensions have lumps, they are crooked, the glue is lumpy, and the color doesn't match. When I called her within 30 minutes after leaving, she made excuses. All while telling me she knows what she's doing because she's been doing this for 26 years. Yet, she asked me where she should put the four extensions she had remaining on her tray. Actually, having to leave with one in my hand. It's amazing how I walked in with 16 extensions, but left with 15 in my hair and one in hand. Do not use her if you want to be happy. read more

Gave me great advice how to deal with a hairstyle that cut into all my problem areas: long cowlick right at the crown mowed very short prior to moving to Ormond Beach; widows peak; 4" wavy stripe at the nape in a sea of straight hair; thick fine hair heavy on one side, light on the other. She outlined a grow-out plan over a few months in the sweetest nonjudgmental way, explained how her cut would make it look symmetrical & had my hair looking professional before leaving. I had an appointment with Marjan and prior to booking I told her I had Long, thick, and very curly hair that would required extra time for a cut and blowout. She said she had many clients with thick hair and knew how to cut/ style curly hair. I am new to the area and was trying to find a good stylist and this is one experience I would certainly Never want to repeat. I will admit that I was 5 minutes late to my appt due to crazy traffic on Granada. She was very nice and chatty initially but everything was rushed and rather rough. After saying she knew about cutting curly hair she cut it wet. Even though she said she would check it dry as always is the case and trim at the end she never did. She also just used a brush to blow dry my hair into a big puff. She did not section or attempt to smooth with the round brush like ALL others know how to do. She had to use a flat iron to make it a little smoother but missed some parts. During my appointment she was speaking to another person in a different language. They both mentioned how this is probably making me uncomfortable but continued. Yes this makes someone uncomfortable. She stopped right at an hour walked into the room in front and left me in the chair. She didn't say anything just left. I had asked for soft curls, nothing just done. She never checked the cut dry, asked if I liked the cut/style.... she just left. I went into the room to pay and asked about a product I wanted. She seemed annoyed and rushed to get me to pay and get out. This was not an inexpensive place so I thought just maybe the whole experience would be better. I feel your goal was NOT to have me ever come back and that is exactly what you will get. I had to go home to smooth and flat iron my hair after paying you! read more

I have heard about Marjan from the moment I move to Ormond Beach four years ago. I decided to walk into her salon to get a color consultation because my last hairdresser had turned my hair red which I was very unhappy about. I had asked her for a champagne colored hilight. Marjan gave me all the confidence in the world, in talking to her that she would be able to color correct my hair. I made an appointment and walked out of her salon with confidence that she would be able to color correct my hair but understood it would take more than one visit. In fact it did take three visits because the correction was that difficult to do with all the red in my hair but she did a fabulous job. I'm very impressed and have found a hairdresser who listens to me, works like a professional, knows what she is doing and does not waste time getting the job done. She gives each client her personal and individual attention so that when you walk out of her shop, you feel good about yourself because your hair looks good on you. I'm a tourist who wanted to get a haircut while I had some time on vacation. The salon was able to get me in same day, which I appreciated. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I got a very lovely stylist who shaped my curtain-like long hair into a shape that has much more interest and movement. She was open to hearing about what kind of haircut I was looking for but I was really wanting her to tell me what she thought would look nice because I'm not very good at visualizing what sort of cut I need. I'm glad I trusted her judgment because the haircut came out really nice. She also gave me a good blowout and I appreciated the time she took with the flatiron afterwards to make sure my hair was smooth (I have quite unruly hair). I love Bumble and Bumble products and Marjan uses them so I was pleased. I asked my stylist for her card - her name is Kristi - because I thought others in my situation (tourist just wanting to pamper myself but with no real knowledge of the Daytona Beach area and its salons) would appreciate knowing where to go. Kristi gave me a great service but is also very nice to talk to so I recommend her highly. One note - it was my first time in Daytona Beach and the salon was kind of hard for me to find. It's at 555 W Granada but 555 encompasses many suites that appear to be separate complexes but actually are not. So unless you know right where you're going you might want to give yourself extra time to get there. read more

Asked for roots to be blended with old highlights. (Offered many useful suggestions, none of them were listened to). At the end, the stylist said "Oh, there is a lot of contrast here, you will have to pay another $65 and come back for low lights.). I was very upset, because I already knew this, and suggested thicker strands of lightening. Asked for a Bob hair cut, she told me it was not possible. Asked for my bangs to be completely blonde vs. just some strands, was told (this would not look right). I explained I had this done before and many people are doing it. She explained she knew what she was doing. Since I could not have the desired hair cut, I asked for short layers so I could feather my hair back. This did not happen either. I have teeny tiny highlights that do not blend, and the owner explains that this is good, and that I just have dark hair and my old hair has low lights. She would not let me get a word in edgewise, and would not listen to me, so I told her, your not listening to me..and I would just have someone else fix it. - She Threw her hands in the air, shewed me and said you go on somewhere else, get out of here. - She is Aggressive, Rude, Will not listen to the client, and treated me like because I bought a Groupon, I was the one who was wrong. Marjan, you are a terrible professional. The number one rule for hair styling is very simple : LISTEN. - I would never return here, and I will never buy a groupon for something so important. Let's make this clear, I have two homes, ready to buy a third, and a corvette and Exterra paid off, yet I am humble work hard, and wanted try a new place. This was the worst mistake I ever made, and I will go to the Daytona College of Hair to have the teacher fix Marjan's mistake.
