They seem to be honest and only billed 1-3 hours per week though. But if you need aggressive, proactive, and creative attorneys...go elsewhere!!! We recently retained another DC based law firm at nearly twice their hourly rate. Hopefully they'll advance our cases. After being terminated from my employer abruptly and unexpectedly for false accusations, I was lost…read moreand confused. I had never been fired before, nor had I ever been accused of the things they accused me of. They were quick to try to get me to sign a severance agreement that waived all of my rights. I did a quick search for an attorney and came across Mitchell Katine. I sent in a contact us form on his website and he immediately contacted me. The initial phone conversation was genuine and not rushed, and ultimately he asked me to bring all of my documentation into the office so that I would be able to show him what was going on. Though I was dealing with lack of income during the holiday season from being out of work, I knew I needed guidance and needed to spend the money. Best $250 I had ever spent on a consult. When meeting with Mitchell, he took his time to get to know me and the issues that came up. He reviewed the severance agreement they gave me and provided his opinion on how to proceed but ultimately let me make the final decision with the facts of how to approach this situation I was in. I would not recommend hiring Daryl Longworth to represent you in a divorce or child custody matter…read more I retained Mr. Longworth approximately two years ago to represent me in my divorce and custody case. Looking back, I believe the representation I received resulted in an extremely unfavorable outcome that continues to affect my relationship with my children. Since the divorce was finalized, I have consulted with two separate family law firms to evaluate whether a modification of my current custody and visitation order is possible. Both attorneys expressed significant concerns regarding the terms of the decree and visitation schedule that were negotiated and entered in my case. Both advised that a modification appears warranted based on the circumstances. However, one attorney stated that they would explore whether portions of the original order could potentially be thrown out & redone due to how one-sided they believed the agreement to be. The other advised that while they would work to improve the current order, correcting the issues would be difficult because of the terms already in place. What is most frustrating is that I relied on Mr. Longworth's advice when deciding whether to agree to the terms of the settlement. I was led to believe that the provisions were standard and necessary under the circumstances. After obtaining independent legal opinions, I no longer believe that was the case. Divorce and custody cases have long-term consequences that can affect both parents and children for years. Based on my experience, I wish I had sought additional legal opinions before agreeing to the final terms of my decree. If you are considering hiring Mr. Longworth, I would strongly encourage you to carefully evaluate your options, ask detailed questions, and consider obtaining a second opinion before making any major decisions regarding your case. After retaining Mr. Longworth & up to mediation, here's what I experienced: - Lack of communication or delayed responses. I voiced my concerns to Mr. Longworth about the lack of communication and he threatened to withdraw from my case with no refund. - Failure to explain legal options or potential consequences. - Pressured to settle without fully understanding the terms. - Failed to explain specific ways the custody schedule negatively affected my parenting time. - Expressed billing concerns, but they were ignored. - Important issues I raised were ignored or inadequately addressed.
