How does one find a good chiropractor? Usually a referral from someone you trust. My wife was referred by a coworker, she referred me and now I've started to refer others. A good chiropractor is hard to find. It's clear to me that Mark really knows what he's doing. He helped me work through a long term issue I was dealing with and my back feels great. I have a background as a cmt so I'm aware of my body mechanics, my posture and how everything is interrelated. During our first appointment he was able to diagnose my lower back issues and start treatment. I was in a ton of pain and my muscles were really tight, he was very cautious about how he proceeded. It took about 3 appointments before I was back to better than I had been in years. I'm really glad I was able to get the original recommendation. I wasn't a fan of chiropractic science when I first went to see Dr. Reis. He changed my opinion pretty quickly by helping me to feel better. He has treated our entire family for years now. I trust him to adjust my back, neck, and body - and am convinced that he had allowed me to move better and for longer than I would have otherwise been able on my own. Dr. Reis is great -- not only is he skilled and knowledgeable, he's very friendly and personable. I trust him with adjustments completely. He's helped me with whiplash and various other issues and has a special interest in sports medicine. Chiropractors are not for everyone, but I recommend Dr. Reis to anyone I know with an alignment issue or back or neck pain. In addition, he takes many kinds of insurance and the reception staff is extremely kind. Not to be coarse, but chiropractors have to get quite close to you as they bend you into crazy positions, and Dr. Reis is not someone that is a downer to have in your personal space (e.g. doesn't have bad breath, etc.). I've been seeing chiropractors since 1991. Some were good and some made you wonder how they stayed in practice. Dr. Reis is by far the best Chiropractor I've seen. He adjusts me with ease. He's a perfectionist. He relieves every last ache. It's pretty weird to compare chiropractic care to art, but it is really something to see this man work. In my humble opinion, Dr. Reis is the best chiropractor in San Carlos. I have been to two other chiropractors who are both wonderful and very highly regarded, but they did not spend the time really figuring out what is going on. Very much like a business transaction... five minutes and you're out the door! Dr Reis actually gives a very thorough examination and performs a wonderful, intuitive massage during his adjustments which typically last 15 minutes or more. Mark is a great chiropractor and all around nice person. I have been seeing him for 5 1/2 years now. He is professional and has helped me to maintain an active lifestyle despite a neck injury I suffered 10 years ago. A few years ago I was experiencing a lot of back pain due to carrying my toddler. I was referred to Mark Reis by Liam, the massage therapist that works in his office. I was always leary of chiropractors, but one appoinitment with Mark made me a believer. Up until recently I hadn't been to see Mark for several years, but recently returned after a car accident. My back and neck have been more than happy to be adjusted again and I'm happy that not much has changed. His office staff is friendly and helpful, the office is clean and beautiful (I must say--their bathroom is one of the nicest I've ever been in), and I'm so happy that I went back. I've seen dozens of chiropractors, all around the world since injuring my back in the early nineties and then again in 2000 after a car accident. In those years I have had to trust my back with many different chiropractors, some very good but many very bad. It seems there is a commonality among the really good Chiropractors, they almost have an instinct or a natural talent for understanding the problems of their patients. I had seen another chiropractor who actually made my pain worse. I was experiencing lower back pain on my left side by my hip, and could barely walk a few days prior to seeing Mark. Dr. Reis took a lot of time to diagnose my condition, and the treatments were gentle but effective. In fact, the next day I had an amazing improvement. Dr. Reis is professional, kind and caring. He does not "go thru the motions" ever-- rather he is informed, keeps you informed and does an assessment every time you see him. He listens and adapts his techniques and tools to the situation at the moment. I do not ever feel he makes me co-dependent, however he provides realistic goals and such relief. Dr. Reis is great! I went in with terrible back pain to the point where it was becoming painful to walk. I have been in three times now and the pain is gone. When I first went in, he saw that other parts of my back needed alignment and he went ahead and took care of them without requiring another visit to take care of the additional problems he saw. He gave me a handout and recommended I do several different stretches to help my back and even showed me how to do modifications to get the best stretch. I did not believe in chiropractic quite a few years ago when i threw my neck out. My hisband convinced me to give it a try and by sheer luck I found Mark at the group practice he was part of at the time. One visit and I could turn my head again! Now Mark has his own practice, next to Trader Joe's. He and his staff are very accomodating, squeezing me in when I have a problem. He is pleasant, soft-spoken, as gentle as possible and he does not try to push you into purchasing a series of appointments (unlike many other chiropracters). If one visit fixes you up, that's great. If not, he will keep trying until you are fixed. Billing is efficient and he takes a wide variety of insurance plans. read more

He a great chiropracter, I have seen him with work related injuries, snowboarding accidents, two pregnancies, carrying a 10 lb baby around, and he has been able to treat everyhting and help return me to comfort and movement. I have been meaning to write a review about Dr. Reis for awhile but just haven't had a chance. I saw Dr. Reis in September after seeing another Chiropractor for the same problem. The other chiropractor estimated that I would need 40 visits to help me be pain free, I thought that sounded a bit excessive so I came back to Yelp and found Dr. Reis. Dr. Reis was able to have me pain free in 5 visits and taught me stretches that I can do as well. I felt every visit with him was thorough and found him to be very knowledgeable. To top it off, Dr. Reis's office staff is extremely professional and their office is clean and beautiful. read more
