I felt like a blonde Beyonce strutting down the street after I left. Staff are very inviting, offering drinks and cupcakes upon arrival. Yes cupcakes. They were very thorough when going over what I wanted. I am not very picky, so it was great to listen to their suggestions on what they thought would suit me. As far as my hair, they said they were going to take off an inch, and they only took an inch. Which is almost unheard of when I have gotten my hair cut at other salons. The décor is modern and bright with music playing and a personal tablet at each station. Drinks were also served in mason jars which was a cute addition. I dont have children but there is a childrens play area down stairs which as a mom I'm sure would be great. They have a range of spa treatments too, waxing, mani/pedi, eyebrow threading and eyelash treatments which I plan to take advantage of in the future. If you need a new do or a blow out for a hot date, I highly recommend stopping by.

My hair is slightly wavy and very hard to cut evenly, it tends to stick out in weird angles. But the stylist managed to cut it perfectly, I can now make my hair look decent with minimal effort. A short chat revealed that the salon has been in this location for about 25 years. I had no idea! I thought it was new! It's also a family owned business, so the chances of you being pressured with up-selling of products and other hair treatments is going to be low to non-existent. Hooray! The salon was very quiet both on the day I popped in to book my appointment and on the day of my appointment. It was a welcome change. Having been a regular at Tony & Guy down the road for over a year, I had recently grown very tired of the extremely loud, busy, and overly bright salon that is trademark Tony & Guy. I had also grown very tired of getting a phone call from T&G 30 minutes prior to my appointment informing me that my stylist was running about 20-30 late. A semi-permanent cut and color should take about 60-90 minutes yet I often found myself at T&G for upwards of three hours with about 2/3 of that time spent reading magazines waiting for someone to tend to me. Each visit became more and more unpleasant and I was in a rut and I needed out. Enter Armstrong Cuthbert. Armstrong Cuthbert has everything going for it - a nice, calm environment, pleasant and personable staff, and Aveda products. Oh, and that lovely smell of Aveda when you walk in the door. Heavenly! There was no wait time when I arrived for my appointment and everything thereafter ran with precision. I walked out of the salon about 90 minutes later sans split ends and pesky gray hair and happy versus angry and annoyed and wanting to punch someone in the face. Two thumbs up! The woman who does the nails works extremely quick, and she knows exactly what she is doing. The extensions would look great even after 3 weeks of having them, without even a need for a refill. You do need to have an appointment, but she is extremely helpful - once I rocked up at 6:45 pm without an appointment a day before my holiday, and she still did my nails. I also don't have any hygiene concerns, as she keeps her equipment sterile. She has a nice selection of colors and is quite happy to experiment with whatever ideas your imagination has. I also pop into there for a quick eyebrow threading from time to time, when I am unable to maintain the shape myself. And again - it is always a pleasurable experience and I always walk out with a smile from this place!

It's a shame that repeat visits are never quite as special as the first time, but the level of service is consistently high. I quite like the fact that all staff are Italian (they make an effort to speak English not just to customers but also to each other - top marks) as this translates into stylish hair and good coffee. I've had a different colourist on each of my visits, the first time I was a bit unsure about a trainee being asked to help out, but I've come to appreciate the fact that this actually leads to a much faster job overall. Shame that they were so busy this time that some of the saved time was lost again. Still, it's a good sign to see a salon this busy on a Monday afternoon with customers of all ages. This time I had a do to go to in the evening and was happy to have my hair properly blow dried and curled - made me feel very glam! I got my very first set of acrylic nails here! I was going on a trip to Greece in late September…read moreand wanted to treat myself to a set of acrylic nails. I got the acrylic nails with gel polish and the chrome add-on and the total came out to £65.00, and I prepaid online so there was no hassle when my nails were done, I just walked out the door. I had a very nice experience with my nail technician who made good conversation during the appointment. I got exactly what I requested. Though during the filing, I was noticing that it seemed like my skin around the cuticle and sides of my finger were getting sanded too and it was a bit uncomfortable and left the a bit agitated and slightly red for a couple days after. There was also excess acrylic on the underside of the nail that made it not smooth and a bit of a hinderance around the sides of the undersides of the nail that I wish she had filed away before the end of the appointment. However, the nails are still staying on pretty good for a month's grow-out time. (the attached photos are fresh out of the salon). The ambiance of the salon was on-par for a normal salon; nothing that overly stood out or sparked concern. The salon is located in a convenient area, it's near the Tube station and Westfield mall.

They are exactly what I need: friendly, quick, open 7 days a week and not overpriced. M&V is owned by an Italian and most employees and customers are Italian, but they were very welcoming to other nationalities.
