It's worth a look even if this isn't your type of scene. I found this market just by turning into a small alley way while on Shambles street. There is a large sign that will point you into the right direction of the market. I'm not sure what time it closes but it isn't open very late so I would say come during the mid morning/early afternoon time. Tip- Try to group your sites together so you won't waste time by double backing to the same area. If you are coming to Shambles, also make your way to this market.

Wow this was an absolute delight to go to last weekend, I can't believe I have lived in Leeds all…read morethese years and never been before. I didn't actually believe that anything substantial, let alone good, could take place in the small rose garden outside of the bar, The Arc, in Headingley. It just looked too small. But when I went last weekend it was like the space had magically morphed and increased in size! There were stalls selling organic vegetables, fruit, cheese, local wine, local meat, cakes, bread, Indian food, eggs, even a stall selling plants from a nursery in Pudsey. They had some pots of raspberry stems but I was on my bike so I couldn't get them home. Fortunately, I got their card and might pop along during the week to pick some up as they were a good price and I know they will work on the allotment as they have been grown in Leeds. Besides the market stalls there was a live band! This made it for me as usually at farmers markets you want to linger a bit but once you've made your purchases can't really find a reason to but the band was the perfect Saturday morning entertainment. With stalls selling tasty organic vegetables, free-range eggs the size of your palm, fresh fish and meat, artisan cheeses and a whole host of seasonal, local treats, this market, held the second Saturday of each month, turns the weekly shop into a day out in its own right. There is fresh fish and we love the smoked salmon pate from Whitby. The vegetables and plants allways look nice and fresh. The pies and cakes etc. look good but we havent had a try yet.The stall olders seem to remember everybody and if they haven't got something they usually have will offer to get it for next week.And no excuses you are told either its all gone or they didnt bring any or whatever. Nothing blamed on the computer!

A humongous indoor market that holds hundreds and hundreds of stalls selling all kinds of food and…read moremerchandise. A wide variety of items can be found, although I can't speak for the quality. The website lists the available traders along with a map. The area was bustling with people on a Friday afternoon, but not as crowded compared to some of the other markets that I have visited. We simply did a brief walkthrough that took about half-an-hour. There is a food court too for those looking for a quick bite.

All year round there's something different going on, At Christmas time the small shop expands by means of a huge tent and all sorts of festive fayer is on sale. For this children you can also catch a ride on santa's sleigh through the woods where santa and his helpers are waiting to talk to them next to a roaring fire! it's a magical experience for kids. In spring you can feed the lambs and other various 'babies' that are around the farm, as well as find out what's being planted ready for the next harvest. In summer time you can get your baskets and go and pick your own fruits and early veg, again great fun for the kids! October brings halloween and another fun day out for the kids as Farmers cart hosts 'Pumpkin Fest' - The kids can hitch a ride on the tractor to the pumpkin patch and find their very own pumpkin - theres also lots of other things to do, pumpkin carving, corn shooting - lots of fun. All year round the Farmers Cart also has a lovely little cafe restaurant where you can pop in for tea and cake or try one of the wonderful lunches, personally I love the Yorkshire mans lunch, ham, beef, a beautiful salad and home baked bread - what a treat!

The store is bright, bold and modern, they have a wide range of offerings, showcasing a variety of Yorkshire brands,, as well as fresh and organic produce, the prices are competitively priced compared to what you'd pay at a regular farmers market, and more than worth it for the quality. The staff were really friendly, they were happy to help and show me around the store and what items were gluten-free, I do think the gluten-free sections could have been better, but I was able to get some fantastic shortbread, from a local family-run business, in terms of hot food offerings I was able to have a rotisserie-style chicken. My chicken was really good, it was seasoned perfectly with a fantastic salt, they upgraded me for to a full chicken as they were close to closing time, which I felt was a kind gesture, it meant I had some to take home later, and it actually warmed up surprisingly well too. I do think it would have been nice to have stronger cutterly as the knifes kept breaking when I was cutting into the chicken breast, and I would have liked to have a selection of sides, some carbs to go with the chicken (potatoes, rice) would have made it perfect. I picked up a rotisserie style chicken, gluten-free short-bread and a pack of locally sourced eggs, which all came to £11.40 which I was pleased with. They do have a small seating area within the store, part of it was cornered off (alcohol section) which I presume was due to current UK government guidelins. 4* - The store had a really good feel to it and the staff were excellent, I loved the organic and fresh produce, this is one of the best stores I've actually found in a motorway service station, the main improvement would be to increase their food for now menu however possible, especially as UK government restrictions ease which means more people will be travelling, and adding a few more gluten-free options overall, as they were slightly limited in that department.

The shop is very well-stocked with all the sorts of things you'd expect; speaking from experience, the quality of their produce is very good although the prices are a shade on the high side. The pick-your-own area is well laid out and again, the quality is certainly there -- we picked stacks of raspberries and enjoyed them very much. There's plenty of parking, the staff are friendly and welcoming -- all in all, we couldn't recommend this place highly enough.

If you sit in and eat then the food is amazing and you can't help but want to go back. Half way between thornton dale and pickering, cedar barn is in a beautiful setting and there's nothing to distract you from the gorgeous fields that surround it. I don't know if they still do this but they used to grow strawberries and other fruits that you can go and pick and these were grown to perfection and if they still do this then I definitely recommend it.
