There is fresh fish and we love the smoked salmon pate from Whitby. The vegetables and plants allways look nice and fresh. The pies and cakes etc. look good but we havent had a try yet.The stall olders seem to remember everybody and if they haven't got something they usually have will offer to get it for next week.And no excuses you are told either its all gone or they didnt bring any or whatever. As you go in you can smell food! The farmer running the stall sells meat but also cooks their own burgers sausages etc. There is plenty of choice among the stalls if you want meat of any kind and delicious sausages, bacon etc.There is poultry too, some ready to eat and lots of cute little ducks etc. to rear.There is a wide variety of cheese and lovely cakes and bread. The egg stall sells woolly blankets etc.There are some craft stalls and presrves too. My only problem is seeing all the lovely little chicks and then buying a chicken for dinner!

I didn't actually believe that anything substantial, let alone good, could take place in the small rose garden outside of the bar, The Arc, in Headingley. It just looked too small. But when I went last weekend it was like the space had magically morphed and increased in size! There were stalls selling organic vegetables, fruit, cheese, local wine, local meat, cakes, bread, Indian food, eggs, even a stall selling plants from a nursery in Pudsey. They had some pots of raspberry stems but I was on my bike so I couldn't get them home. Fortunately, I got their card and might pop along during the week to pick some up as they were a good price and I know they will work on the allotment as they have been grown in Leeds. Besides the market stalls there was a live band! This made it for me as usually at farmers markets you want to linger a bit but once you've made your purchases can't really find a reason to but the band was the perfect Saturday morning entertainment. I'm not sure what time it closes but it isn't open very late so I would say come during the mid morning/early afternoon time. After discovering Blagdons, it is now the only place I go for my meat and every friday they do a fantastic offer of two steaks for £5 (including fillet!) These steaks are seriously good and you can really tell the difference between these and the ones you'll get at supermarket. If not to go there for the steak, its worth checking out for the great range of sauces, spreads and cheeses they do. If you like good quality food then give this place a go!

The Northen Quarter market is on Stevenson Square and is quite small but all the stalls are selling good quality stuff and it's well worth a visit especially if you're a foodie or into vintage. There was an excellent handmade chocolate stall, a stall selling gourmet marshmallows, a place selling macaroons as well as cheese, vintage clothing, handmade jewellery and furniture stalls. The Soup Kitchen were also there with a Jamaican BBQ and there was a street food place selling wraps and sandwiches. A great way to spend a lazy Sunday.
