Let me start out by saying Thank you, Gavin, for all your dedicated help and countless emails I sent you over these two years.  My husband and I started working with Gavin roughly two years ago, wow did we not really know how bad of shape our credit and financial situation was until meeting with Gavin. Look no further. Becky is AH-MAZING! I tell you no lie. Becky was my FOURTH lender in trying to get financed after a divorce that yielded significant hits to my credit-worthiness. Even though 3 lenders got me pre-approved based on my score and a cursory look at my credit report, they each came back after having put contracts on properties to tell me they could not close the deal. I was very discouraged (and pissed too) but a friend advised that I try Becky. I am so glad I did. I GRILLED her because I did not want to be disappointed again and the entire way through the process she was professional, thorough, understanding & patient. What I appreciated the most was that she was TENACIOUS!! After reading many reviews, I wish that I can say that my experience with Market Place Mortgage Corp is going smoothly. The company reached out to us back in April/May. They told us they could help with a reverse mortgage and help get us out of debt. We requested a meeting to get more information on what this was all about, and finally maybe we can get some help. My husband has lived in his home for over 26 years. Unfortunately, he lost his job and our financial's fell behind. So of course like many others we found ourselves covered in debt. After reaching out to different lenders and trying NOT to loose our home. We took the gamble that we have nothing to loose if we look into this reverse mortgage. Mind you, my husband has never had a second mortgage on his home and he owes less than $80k on his home. Not bad you would think. They give us a line that they want to be confident we can afford the taxes and homeowners insurance. BULL...our homeowners insurance is update (never late) with the reverse mortgage no more house payment extra money to put in saving for taxes. Our home not up to par..the upstairs bathroom had a leak, fixed per the appraisal. Everything they asked of us we have completed. If we are not going to close this month, my husband will probably pull the plug and ask for help with our current mortgage company. Two things we wanted from this was 1. get out of debt and 2. finish with some upgrades to our home. Use our home as an asset instead of an liability. Stressed beyond frustration. read more

I found Market Place Mortgage on a random whim searching online!! Thank God I called! I'm a veteran with credit that was not up to par with buying a home but I thought, why not try? I spoke to Gavin when I called and after running my credit he assured me that he would get me a loan! I was in disbelief and thought that he would realize he couldn't after a while. That was not the case! Not only did he get me a loan, but I got into the home I actually wanted! There were a few hiccups here and there mainly due to the time difference but in the end it's all worth it. We closed a little later than we thought, but overall I would do it 20 times over! Let me tell you about Sonia (Gavin's right arm) AKA his assistant, SONIA IS A SAINT! Gavin if you're reading this, give Sonia a raise!! I was referred to Matthew Meilahn. Matthew was focus closing the transaction and not the individual. On two home inspections, it was determined the prospective homes weren't an good investment. I decided not to go forward. Matthew wasn't understanding after receiving the inspection report. He mentioned, "maybe the inspector want to purchase the home". He was pushing to close the deal regardless of any issue. On the home I decided to purchase and the inspection report was good. I had to talk with the underwriter directly to get pass requested document. In my experience, this was the responsible of Matthew not his client. At Closing, Matthew was not available to assist with documents that was given. Matthew refused to answer several phone calls from the realtor, Title company and attorneys. To complete the closing, my attorney had to call the toll free number and speak to a agent to get the CD correct. Matthew was very unprofessional. The Closing process was approximately four and half hours. This is the fifth homes I purchased and this was the worst experienced!!! I would not refer anyone to work with Matthew Meilahn. We have refinanced with company twice. Our first experience was great! So we proceeded with refinancing the second time. This second experience was less than pleasant. We were told our rates would drop and we would save 2 months in payments. Who doesn't want that extra cash to stash away! We were also told no closing costs. I kept asking when I should cancel automatic payment for our mortgage and was told to wait until we had a closing. July payment went through and a week later we were given a closing date. A second payoff was request after our payment in July. After we had a closing date, I again asked if I should cancel automatic withdraw and was told yes. A few days before closing I was told we would have to bring over $400 to closing. The title company reviewed our paperwork with us and told us that our first payment would be due that next month (not the 2 month we were told). When we inquired about this with the broker, we were told that we would be reimbursed from the mortgage company after the payoff was received. We got a check for $38 last week! Definitely not the amount we thought we would get. We were told that this was our fault. read more

So it's 10:00 pm I just finished half my move into my new home and as I'm soaking it all in I can't help but think of the people that helped me buy my first new house.
