The support staff is amazing from the smallest thing like bumming a battery to the biggest thing of planning events! Joining the group of "Senior Specialists" in the America's Best Hearing office has been one of the best job moves of my life. I have had offices in at least 5 other medical parks. That's very nice and what I have always considered "ideal". This setting rises far above that. I say that especially because of the capacity for events. Education on these special senior concerns is a huge part of navigating this part of life. When we are young, we have parents, teachers, coaches, youth leaders...That help is needed for sure. What about this senior part of life? I say we need all the help we can get and its here at One Senior Place!

When my mother-in-law, a resident for two years, was sick in ICU, she couldn't wait to go "home, where my friends are, and my cook, Tom!" They don't try to be the fanciest place in town, but it's a warm, homelike atmosphere where she's happy. When Mama was able, every time the wheels rolled on the activity bus, she was on it. When asked where she was going, she would say, "I don't know, but I know I'm going to have fun!" The units or cottages are small enough that those who live there feel like family to each other. It's almost impossible to re-create that feeling in a larger facility. The food is awesome...nutritious and tasty. They're quite accommodating for special dietary needs, too. If you were thinking of placing a loved one here, or going yourself, I think you would be pleased. We are!

Over and over she has advocated with my mother's assisted living facility (which she found for us) and my sister's nursing home, visited them (even when they were in Orlando), and communicating with us so that we could know what was happening, etc. Since I live in Atlanta, this has been a godsend because I cannot easily get to them when they need help urgently. In addition, Tracy can talk to people about my sister's care when I cannot (because of HIPAA), and she has shown genuine care and concern for my family throughout this lengthy and ongoing situation. Her rent started out at $5500 and went up to $6800 in those two years. Plus all the additional charges. I believe their goal is to drain seniors of every penny they have. I sure hope these seniors have families watching out for them. But as bad as Brennity of Melbourne is, their corporate office, in Texas is very accommodating. Just sad that they have to be called to get things done.

Using the call bell was always a problem of no answer to it. Many times the staff took breaks all together after they had placed the residents in the big open room with no heat and turned on a movie none of them could follow. Wynn is the most reliable and does her best under the circumstances. She was the best but only in memory care part time. The staff also had other places to go during meals when many residents needed help and the kitchen staff was left to fend for herself. My father was older and had his health issues but the Vitas they brought in seemed to want him to pass quickly and he was one of the mobile and verbal and polite ones. The apartments are lovely and the grounds are well cared for and the buildings are so clean. The staff at Discovery Village are the best, especially the Exercise coach! She is so kind and genuinely cares for all the residents. There's always a smile on her face and she goes above and beyond daily. There are so many people on staff there that I could go on and rave about...It's really all about caring and showing love to the folks who live there. This is their story and I would recommend this place 1000%. If you are considering Independent Living, Assisted Living or Memory Care, go visit them at 3260 N Harbor City Blvd in Melbourne, FL.
