The only reason I might not give it five stars in this review is for the relative age of the…read morefacility. I'd give Palm Cottages a solid 5 for care. When my mother-in-law, a resident for two years, was sick in ICU, she couldn't wait to go "home, where my friends are, and my cook, Tom!" They don't try to be the fanciest place in town, but it's a warm, homelike atmosphere where she's happy. When Mama was able, every time the wheels rolled on the activity bus, she was on it. When asked where she was going, she would say, "I don't know, but I know I'm going to have fun!" The units or cottages are small enough that those who live there feel like family to each other. It's almost impossible to re-create that feeling in a larger facility. The food is awesome...nutritious and tasty. They're quite accommodating for special dietary needs, too. If you were thinking of placing a loved one here, or going yourself, I think you would be pleased. We are!

I've had a good experience with Brennity. I am the daughter of a prospective assisted living…read moreresident and my dad was impressed. The property is beautiful--I love the screened-in porches and small dining rooms that each wing has that gives it a comfortable "homey" feel. The staff is super friendly, making a strong statement that they want to make my dad and our family happy as much as possible. My dad especially likes that residents can use the fitness center and pool on their own and do not necessarily have to sign up for an exercise class or supervision from staff, allowing self-motivated residents to be more independent. I think Brennity's kitchen and meal times seem to be longer and more flexible than some assisted living homes too. I am especially impressed with Teleia from their sales department and how easy she is to work with. She's been caring and professional and quick to follow through on my questions/requests, demonstrating that they really want to make it a stress free experience to welcome my dad to their community. She has been following up with my family and staying in touch about our needs and timeframe for a possible move. Brennity was more flexible with the uncertain timing of my dad's plans to stay than other local assisted living homes.

Soup & salad bar disappeared. Menu changed, staff turnover, basic services could not be accessed. Mom passed in 2018 & several years later Dad had to go to AL. His treatment there was horrible. Granted, he could be difficult, but that's the job. No answer for bathroom assistance. 3 times a week showers did not happen. We were fortunate that he qualified for hospice which began taking care of his basic needs. We had a whistleblower contact us who filled us in on staff members texting about wishing he would die. His apartment got infested with rats & the ED, Tiffany Collins denied it was happening & refused to do anything about it. She is a horrible woman. Dad lived there for 15 years & she went into hiding every time I was in the building. I never met her after 15 years. She deployed her minions to every family care meeting. In the midst of the rat infestation, we moved him to a smaller home where after 4 months, with great care, he was able to pass peacefully at 100 years old. Do not put anyone you care about in this dump. Tiffany Collins should be fired & so should her boss, Melissa Sloper who was zero help.

This facility literally killed my mom by refusing to give her her blood pressure meds and sent her into shock!!! NEVER TAKE anyone here unless you want the clones for nurses to ignore you and do not believe the lies that the oh so sweet and calm social workers tell you. Death is their business, NOT LIFE, even though it is short. The brochures say they will continue the meds..............LIES!!! They admitted my mom after hours with NO DOCTOR to check her and NO MEDS available, yet after 5 was when they do admissions!!!!

The nurse Jackie Bailey was exceptional. She would always call me right after her visits every week to report on his status. She was always pro-active, in trying to maintain his quality of life and care. If she needed to come in more than once per week because of a problem, she would be there. She made my father feel special, and that he mattered to her. He would always smile when she would come in to see him. The other workers that would come in to help him were just as attentive. Allison, who would shower him 3 times per week, Donna a volunteer, who would come every week to see him, Stanley the Chaplain, who would give him comfort, and Jason the social worker, who would visit him often as well. I can't say enough good things about the people and the care they gave my father. It takes special people to do the work of hospice care. God bless them all! - Mike Reed
