Dr. Debbie Smrz actually was able to ELIMINATE my foot pain completely! Here's my story: About 14 months ago, I went to the Urgent Care Clinic barely able to walk. I was diagnosed with a severe case of plantar fasciitis. It was so painful, I could barely walk. I sought treatment at a podiatrist who promptly prescribed orthotics and stretching. Nothing helped. After 6 months, the podiatrist decided to try cortisone shots in my foot. If I rate my pain prior to the injections, I would give it a 10 on a scale of 10. After the second round of injections, my pain went from a 10/10 to about an 8/10. Better...but still AWFUL. I was no longer going to the gym, and I was spending a lot of time sitting. I started gaining weight. I was told to exercise to lose the weight, but I couldn't put weight on my foot. I tried the stationary bike; the recumbent bike - but still a lot of pain. I only exercise I could do with minimal pain was swimming. And, frankly, not owning a cottage or a pool made this exercise very inconvenient. So I arrived at Naturopathic Living Medical Solutions for my initial assessment about my overall health. I wanted to feel better; sleep better and have more energy. In the assessment, Dr. Nadine Cyr asked about physical ailments. Plantar fasciitis, I responded. Have you tried BIOPUNCTURE, she asked? Bio-what? I had never heard of it. I was told it was one of the services the clinic offered. Dr. Cyr told me that her colleague, Dr. Debbie Smrz, has been successful in treating people in pain with biopuncture. As I was willing to try anything, I agreed. I made an appointment with Dr. Debbie for the following week and in less than 5 minutes she had injected my foot with some homeopathic substances. Immediately she asked if it felt better. Ummmm...maybe a bit? I wasn't sure. Two weeks later I came back for another treatment. It is feeling better, I said triumphantly. I think the pain is only at a 6 or 6.5 out of 10 now! I am so happy! Dr. Debbie thought it could get better. After treatment #2, I really noticed a difference. I went for a walk around my block without any pain. I no longer limped when I got up from the sofa. My boyfriend even commented that I no longer asked him to rub the bottom of my foot to relieve pain! I went back to Dr. Debbie for a 3rd treatment - but as she watched me walk to her office, she asked me if I needed more treatments. Then it hit me: I hadn't been in pain for a number of days. Pain was at a 0/10! YAY!! Biopuncture successfully relieved me of my foot pain and now I am able to focus back on exercising and improving my overall health. If it hadn't been for Dr. Cyr's deep and thorough assessment of my health, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to be treated by Dr. Smrz. I had Brian walk me through why I was experiencing the pains and soreness in my back and neck and he gave me exercises and simple lifestyle changes that I could do to help prevent the soreness from coming back. Brian understands how to take preventative measures when it comes to sports as he is an athlete himself. He has done the iron man, triathlons and marathons so he gave me great tips on how to prevent injury to my upcoming marathon run. I had originally gone in because I had sharp pains shooting down my neck and into my back. I was able to walk out being able to turn my neck without any pain. A day later, I'm feeling better than yesterday as a result of the massage. I HIGHLY recommend this place, and recommend getting Brian. He is highly knowledgeable, very well experienced, and I felt he desired for me to get to a healthy place. There was no pressure to come again, but I know I will be next time I have any soreness!
