The Miller Ave park is a Town of Markham official dogs off-leash area located at the northwest corner of Miller Avenue and Rodick Road. It is maintained and run by what seems to be a very keen group of volunteers. It looks like the volunteer-run website is currently under construction but you can get the dry-kibbly info from the town's website. We (meaning me, husband and both dogs) discovered this park last year online and it is one of our favourite suburban dog parks. It's a great way to turn what could be a boring errand (like returning the wrong hard drive enclosure on the last possible day to Tiger Direct - did you know that SATA is not the same as ATA? I do now) into a fun family outing with the dogs. As an added bonus I discovered on my most recent trip this week that the wonderful dumplings of Ding Tai Fung are literally around the corner! Thank you Yelp iPhone app. There is a voluntary yearly membership fee of $20 which helps the committee with keeping up the great amenities including covered picnic tables for humans and agility equipment for the dogs (aka stuff for them to climb on). The signs say you need to bring in your own water but I noticed this time there is now a tap which is not turned on yet. There is ample parking and the fenced in-out area is nice and big. I've only ever been there three times, but next time I go I will pay the fee. Even if we go just twice a year it's a small price for a great way to exhaust my dogs and make them happy.

This was my first time taking a dog to an off-leash dog park and Bree (the pupper) absolutely loved it! The only problem we had was finding this place as the location was a bit off from the actual location. Thanks to a fellow yelper who guided us! It's on Miller Ave, west of Roddick. Once we got there, we let Bree off her leash and she ran like no tomorrow. She was happy to see all the other dogs and more importantly all the other people! One tip I can give to you is that if your dog is aggressive, keep on eye on it in case problems start arising. We had to separate Bree a couple times with a couple big dogs because he wanted to (play ) but thankfully his owner knew what was going on and gave Bree some space. We'll definitely be back here! It's also super cool to be surrounded by all different kinds of puppers and be able to play with and pet them!

My dog has been to 3 different dog parks including this one. He doesn't seem to like this one as much as the other ones - I think it's because it's not as big. He does love roaming the agility section (not necessarily using it but just going in there). I think it's great that there is an agility section. I think my dog would rate this 4/5 because he doesn't feel like he has enough space away from other dogs (he is kind of anti-social), but I would rate it 5/5 since it's got the wood chips, some grass, and an agility section. It also has decent amount of benches and shade. BTW, it's still pretty large just not as large as the other two we've been to.

Can I access this park even without a dog?? Is it possible to play with them too? Thanks for answering. I really miss playing with dogs. :(

So many wonderful features here: -free parking in two lots (that would NEVER happen in Vancouver) -a walk around the pond involves a flat trail, one foot bridge, and one stretch of boardwalk through a marshy patch -you never know what wild birds you might see and/or hear here (we saw a heron in the pond, and I heard the call of loons! For real!) -there is a lovely canopy of trees over the walking trail (which was very welcome, on the hot day I visited), and plenty of benches to relax along the way -there are areas of grassy meadow lands on small hills in areas by the walking trail, perfect for a picnic or throwing a frisbee on a nice day -my Toronto friend says sometimes she's seen people fishing in the pond! What a great, little oasis right in the city!

It is contained by a 1.5 m tall chain link fence with a separate small dog area and a double-gated entry and exit area. I really appreciate the stated rules of using the park: all male dogs have to be neutered, no female dogs in heat and no children under 12 years old! The small dog area is for dogs that are under 12 lbs and it is well maintained. My dog had so much fun exploring the area which are lined with wood pieces and played with dogs that are friendly like he is!! The other area where the bigger dogs roamed is huge.... hilly and they can all run wild and explore!! I wish there are more off leash dog park like this, where dogs can enjoy the open area and socialize with others just like children!

Not only is the general fenced off area nice and spacious, but there are lots of hills for the dogs to run around through and picnic tables for the humans to sit at. There is another gated area for smaller dogs as well. I visited on a Sunday afternoon and there was a fair amount of people with their furry friends (maybe around ~10 dogs). Everyone was super friendly! This is definitely a great park for you and your dog if you live close to the Richmond Hill area. I do agree the children's playground area is a bit outdated and needs to be fixed up so the little one's can have more fun and play safely. Ton's of nice views, there is a deck you can walk on and watch the turtles swimming! And it has Koi fish whaaaat! i got a duck, a turtle, and koi fish all in one picture. Win. The fountain is also really pretty with tall big bushy tree's surrounding the area. Just breathing the air is calming. Just remember to wear some bug repellent because man are there a lot of mosquitoes, i got bit like crazy. If you continue along the path past the deck you'll find yourself at a trail that winds around into a mini forest. It has nice log's you can sit down and take a break on or benches available as well. I did not see any duck poop on the trail or deck so that problem must've been fixed. Glad they listened! Will definitely come back again for a nice stroll.
