They took one look, wrote something up which only covered replacement and didn't discuss possibility of repair. Insurance company wanted explanation but HVAC guy faded away on me. Then I called Clarke Air. They responded soon, worked with my agent and we got the OK. Parts arrived in good time. Four trucks arrived this morning with several men. They replaced the outside unit and made a huge modification to the furnace inside. This was necessary due to the changes in equipment after 20 years. Afterward they cleaned up the insulation and hurricane debris that had been tracked in and removed all the discarded parts. I couldn't even find a cigarette butt after they left four hours later. Very courteous.

I now consider the 10 year warranty as a scheme to require their periodic servicing at over $250 per year for actions most owners can do themselves. If they don't honor their warranty, it really doesn't add value for the customer. You should find out if Kohler generators are more reliable before buying a Generac. As far as switching on and supplying electricity, it has performed as advertised.
