I get the appeal of Marks. I really do. Among a culinary scene that is very meat and potatoes heavy, it's refreshing in between mountains of brats, schnitzel and meat boards to actually get some vegetables in you, but Marks' menu is simply too broad I think to specialize in one item, which makes all of their items come in just under the standard bar. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? I will say the service and atmosphere at Marks are very good. You've got a trendy almost coffee shop vibe with great service and the food comes out quickly. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Nothing is unreasonably priced at Marks, and while I initially may have cocked an eyebrow at my €12 Wiener schnitzel order, that eyebrow snapped firmly back in place upon seeing two genuinely massive cuts of schnitzel with a small mountain of fries on the side and abundant boiled and buttered potatoes. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Between our party of five we got several dishes and sides, and I think the general consensus was that while nothing was bad, everything was just average if not a bit below average. The Mediterranean vegetables were genuinely just bell peppers, the fries were standard, and my schnitzel was a bit subpar with what were very weak fries and potatoes. No Stars. Star 5: Would you be excited to go back? A good atmosphere, but lacking food. No Star. read more

Hip place with bright colors and big windows on the side alley that adds freshness specially on sunny day. They have different seating areas in different sections within the same big room (balcony, window, bar, fireside..). I guess they have all your possible ideas for breakfast/lunch/dinner covered. This good composition is also reflected in their breakfast options. You always have something earthy, something fresh and rounded by a healthy sweet at the end. Their fresh juice and specially the red grape one.. Just yummy. A treat: - greek yogurt with figs, honey and walnuts. - don't miss out on their fresh walnut bread. Local and organic food in a very nice atmosphere, even outside. Prices reasonable. Mostly vegeterian dishes. When I went for breakfast we had to wait 20 minutes for our coffee and an hour (!) for food. That was quite disappointing, but considering the fully booked restaurant I wanted to give them another chance. I went for dinner again, food was very good, the service though was unbelievably bad. They actually didn't really pay attention to us at all. In the end they forgot our last order while being bored at the bar, literally doing nothing. When we asked for our bill they remembered our order, but did not apologize for their mistake and pretended as if nothing happened. read more

Im all about first impressions! I fount this restaurant on Yelp during our first day in Vienna, short distance from our AirBnB. We walked in and the place was empty. The host was very nice and told us they had an event but we could sit and have a bite prior to the event. I ordered the bio-corn fed chicken on a mashed potato bed and asparagus wrapped in bacon. My friend had the chicken filet tempura with sweet potato fries and guacamole. The chicken was soft and very well cooked despite been lightly breaded on My friend's dish. We had the cheesecake for dessert which was very tasty and home made. The service was incredible to say the least. Definitely will come back while in Vienna. read more

I visited Marks for lunch with Adam S. whilst on a recent trip to Vienna. We were staying just up the street and wanted to try as many of the nearby smart eateries as possible. Compared to many of the places I ate whilst in Vienna Marks appeared quite smart and modern - the kind of cool cafe you'd expect to find in trendy bits of London. Inside, the restaurant is large and airy, with a long bar area and plenty of tables and cosy soft seating. The day we visited the weather was awful but the place was full of locals out for lunch, including families and couples. The atmosphere was really chilled. Needing something to set us up for a long day of sightseeing and Eurovisioning, we both went for a big cooked breakfast. The food took a while to arrive but when it did I had no complaints. Delicious ham, eggs, tomatoes, sausage and potatoes all cooked in a balti-style metal dish, with a fresh buttery croissant and jam to finish. It was great washed down with a traditional Austrian coffee. Price-wise it was very reasonable, at around 8 euros for the breakfast and a couple more for the coffee. If you're in the area I would definitely recommend a trip to Marks. read more

Though Marks opens at 8:30 on Sundays, the place was entirely empty when I arrived just a few minutes before 9 o'clock. The place is very stylish--a fitting design for the 7th district. The bar is sleekly modern with small lights hanging at various heights above the bar. The furnishings are minimalist in a trendy sort of way. Gray and white are the colours of the walls and the tables are neatly covered in sheets of paper. Plants add some life to the very light interior. For breakfast I decided to go with the so-called "Hangover Frühstück," a decadent breakfast of crispy golden potato wedges, sausage, ham and eggs, and a fried tomato--and if this wasn't enough, with a fresh croissant, butter, and seasonal homemade jam. I watched the snow falling outside the window and read for a bit, though before long, my food arrived. The food looked truly beautiful; the colours of the egg, meat, potato, and sprinkling of chives in the pan were bright, and the croissant--served with soft butter wrapped in a piece of newsprint wax paper and a small pot of homemade Himbeermarmelade ("raspberry preserves")--looked wonderfully crisp buttery. So glad to have found Marks. It was the only highly rated eatery near our Airbnb and also served Viennese food. I'm a tourist from NYC and was excited to try Viennese breakfast. My friend and I both got the hangover frühstück. It came with a croissant with butter and jam. It filled both of us and tasted amazing!! Absolutely loved the ambiance and interior decor. The staff who served us were super friendly and sweet. If I ever come back to Vienna, I will most definitely go back to Marks. read more

Came here for brunch on a Saturday with the wife and we loved it. I had the hangover special and it was amazing. Perfect flaky moist croissant with grape Jam to go with it. My wife loved cucumber ginger drink. The staff are very friendly and even allowed us to charge our phones, as we ate. read more

This place feels like a hidden jewel. Beautiful, fresh, clean space - INCREDIBLY kind, fun, timely, and wonderful server/service, and best of all - THE FOOD!!! Our starters were all delicious and fresh. They even brought an extra for us for free! And also included free plates of cheeses they had from the market! Main courses came out right after and were perfect size, extremely fresh and flavorful. Knowing what we had experienced in the previous food, we had to order desserts! As if they hadn't blessed us enough already, they ended up bringing us out an extra cheesecake for free! All of the food was heavenly. We ate it all! This is the best restaurant we've eaten at in all of Vienna - one of the best we've been to in Europe. My wife and I alone - our whole meal here - cost less than my wife's salad at the dinner place we were at last night. Can't say enough about this place. You must come. Bring a crowd! Great atmosphere and a fun part of town. I had a great burger with really good french fries. The burger was relatively thick with good cheese and bacon on top. My friend had a goat cheese salad that was delicious and the service was friendly and fast. read more
