Poses on the internet as a Title Loan lender, but is not licensed to operate as such in any state. Tolans are under investigation by multiple state attorneys general. Notorious for failing to release titles even after loans are paid in full, then effecting illegal repossessions. Every advertised "Marlin Financial" office throughout the State of Florida is non-existent. We visited them all. One of them even turned out to be a gynecologists office. Only one individual associated with "Marlin Financial" resides in Florida: Geronima Graciela Medina, who acts as a mail-forwarder for the Tolans in order to enable them to continue the illusion that they have an actual presence in Florida. This woman is also affiliated with another internet loan scam called Etitleloans.com, which has been shut down for years. Scam is simple: 1) You click on the search-optimized GoogleAds for Title Loans. (2) You apply over the internet or phone. (3) You see no contract until after you've provided your vehicle title. (4) You receive your loan for $3000 at 18% for 24 months. (5) You pay your installments. (6) You never receive any statements along the way. (7) near the end, you ask Marlin for your final payoff amount so you know the exact final payment to make to get your title back. (8) Marlin sends you the final "Payoff Amount" requesting $6000 more dollars. You say "What the hell?" (9) Marlin boiler room girl says "Its the Debt Cancellation Waiver you owe us for" You say "the hell I did" (10 Before you even hang up the phone, Marlin has already ordered the repossession of your vehicle. (11) Marlin subscribes to independent License Plate scanning cars throughout your region. (12) You park at a Wal-Mart or the Mall or at any apartment complex. Your car pings on a patrolling License Plate Scanner driver's laptop. Your car disappears within 30 minutes and is instantly transported across state lines with all your possessions inside into North Carolina to be auctioned off by ALS Resolvion services. (13) You contact your local police department to inform them that Marlin Financial has stolen a vehicle for which the loan was paid in full, simply because you refused to pay them that extra $6000 fee they surprised you with, in direct violation of the standing Temporary Injunction ordered by the 13th District Court in Hillsborough County, FL by the State of Florida Office of Attorney General. (14) The Police department telephones Marlin and the Towing Company and instructs them that they must return the vehicle to you. I agree with Carlos G. These people are not honest and they mislead you with the DCW prorations if you try to pay off the loan early. As Carlos states it doesn't matter how many payments you make the payoff balance still remains the same. I know that most people only use this type of service if they are in desperate need, however one would be much better off if you can find any other means.
