We were meeting up with family here before we headed to our vacation rental and it was the perfect place to do so. The day that we went there was a wedding party taking pictures in the green areas near the trees and as we drove further in I could see why they call this park Falls Park. There's ample parkin here and several seating and picnic tables sporadically placed through out. There's also a tower you can go up to have a better view of the falls, the park, and the surrounding area. It was also a nice reprieve from the heat of the day. There are a few trails that take you around the area and to the water. It's a lovely park to enjoy nature right in the city. When we walked closer to the falls we found the perfect picnic table under the shade to cool off. We didn't get to see the whole park but what we did see was impressive. I'd love to visit this park again should we be in the area.

This is a nice little park that's perfect for taking a walk and enjoying the scenery. The river…read moreflows over a series of rocks, creating a beautiful and relaxing setting that's well worth the stop. One area that could use some improvement is litter maintenance. During our visit, we noticed quite a bit of trash floating in and around the water, which took away from the natural beauty of the area. If you plan to explore the rocks, be sure to wear hiking shoes or other footwear with good traction, as they can be very slippery. We also enjoyed climbing the observation tower, which offers a great view of the surrounding park. Overall, it's a pleasant place to stretch your legs and enjoy nature, with just a few maintenance issues that, if addressed, would make the experience even better.

I love this large dog park. One section for small dogs, one for large. Picnic benches a few shade trees and covered benches on large dog side... not so sure about the small side. Water fountains (spring, summer and fall) and dog poop bags provided. The large dog area is perfect for fetchers and you'll often find 'donated' balls on the ground. I've never had any problems with unruly dogs but I do often see people bringing littles into the big dog area. If your dog is reactive our hyper with other dogs there is a nice paved trail (ADA compliant for everyone) or a twisty curvy (up and down as well) dirt trail right along the river ... not it is heavily shaded and not ADA) to walk them on before coming in to off leash area.

It's very well maintained and has a few 'indoor' restroom options. There's a very long main loop around the lake that is about 3mi and VERY hilly. I know there's hiking path and such as well. A few small paths exist. It's a lot of fun on bikes and quite kid friendly. Two large playground areas and a couple fishing docks. Also plenty of parking. The dog park is newer and very nice. Can be very busy, tho. It's so clean. I'm proud of SIoux City and surrounding citizens for keeping this place so nice. Totally free; no entrance fee. Can kayak on the lake, but it's too small for boats. Maybe a paddle boat. I'm sure the shelters can be reserved but I don't have information on that. A couple water fountains are available. Don't forget sun screen!!

Just wow. It was my first time being on this side of South Dakota, having visited the Badlands and…read morethe Black Hills last year, and I had no idea what to expect! We headed out to South Dakota to attend a family wedding and added on a couple of days to go camping. I didn't know anything about this park but when we got there I was delighted by the maintenance, and the care of the park. It looks like there are areas where people can visit the park for day use and areas where people can stay, either in the cabins, the campgrounds, or the lodge. I was impressed by how many people we came across that come here to visit during the day. We saw many guests hiking the trails, relaxing in the water, and enjoying the outdoor grills. We found our campground and I loved that they made each campsite pretty private next to other campgrounds. We stayed at the King Campground, the newer one of the two campground areas, and you walk up to your area and it's a large flat grassy area with a picnic table and extra green space before walking down to the parking area. You have a good amount of privacy from the next campground over. I loved that, it was easily the most well thought out campground I've ever stayed in. We loved the fire pit and used it each night and morning. My boyfriend also managed to set up our hammocks on the trees near by for us to nap in in the shade. We brought our dog along for this trip and she did so well hiking with us along the trails and hanging out at the camp ground. The trails got a little iffy since there were off shoots from the trail that -seemed like it was part of the original course but we managed to make it through all trails without getting lost!! There are also a mixture of outhouse/compost like toilets that were cleaner than some I've come across at parks and hand sanitizer that was full as well. The main bathrooms and showers were a short distance from the campground and were clean! It was nice to be in nature but still have the option to use a regular toilet and shower! Another thing to note, the campground host here is wonderful! I can't remember his name now but he was great to talk to and learn how he and his wife got into hosting! This area of the camp was probably the best area to see the sunset. We got to see a couple of beautiful sunsets looking out over the park as our campground area was on a hill with no view obstruction. I was so impressed by this campground that I'm already hoping we go back sometime!

Perhaps one of the greatest roadside stops on the highways of America! Not only is it a glimpse…read moreinto the mind of the creator, it is a fun way to spend the afternoon! The $10 admission was well worth it to us, some of the things we've paid way more to see can't come close to what we saw along the path in the grassy plains of South Dakota! The massive steel sculptures and creations capture your imagination and take you on a journey. Some are downright creepy, some are extremely bizarre and some are weirdly interesting! Many of the poetry boards that compliment the sculptures will leave you scratching your head and a few will leave you with a smile on your face! The photo opportunities are endless and the grassy path through the sculptures is a nice nature walk. Pets are welcome to come along, our little one had a ball climbing on the colorful creations, he thought they were there for him! A definite must stop on the Highway 90 in South Dakota, I/ mean, what else is there to do?!

Spent three days with extended family spread over two cabins. Very minimalist but comfortable. One…read moreroom had two bunk beds, best described as similar to naval beds with odd dimensions. Mattresses were covered in plastic and measured approximately 30" wide by 72" long by 4" deep. Linens were provided. Second room had a full (NOT queen) bed lifted pretty high. Elderly or disabled persons may need different accommodations to stay in this room because the top of the mattress was at least 36" above the floor. Linens were also provided. The cabin was furnished with all basic kitchen utensils, pots, pans, and dishes for four people. Dish soap was also available. A four burner range with oven, microwave, toaster, and basic fridge/freezer. The air conditioner cooled the main livingroom/kitchen space, but not the bedrooms. There was a wall-mounted flat screen TV that we did not use, so I cannot review it. Bathroom had towels and wash cloths for at least four people. Water pressure was great and the water got plenty hot. The back of the cabin had a sizeable screened porch with a table and four chairs. The porch exited to a small picnic table with a very basic park-style square grill where charcoal or wood could be used to cook. No firepit or fire ring was located near the cabin. Amenities included a nearby pool and horseback riding on select days. Hiking was minimal and limited mostly to mowed paths. Perfect for casual walkers or families with small children.

The cabins have 2-3 bedrooms, A/C, a kitchen, a living area, and a screened-in porch. Other parts of the park teach about the history of the Lewis and Clark Expedition and overlook the confluence of the Niobrara River with the Missouri. There are hiking paths and fishing ponds. The rolling hills and wooded areas make a beautiful setting. Pets are allowed.

I cannot for the life of me understand why they are calling this a Japanese garden. This is a small…read morestretch of grass and paving stones near some water. If this city wanted to call it a park, that would be passable, but it's actually insulting and frustrating that they are calling this a Japanese garden. I was able to find what I think is a Japanese maple and they had a bridge that looks like they tried to style it in a Japanese style over an empty bed of rocks that was possibly intended as a koi pond once upon a time, but as it stands, there is nothing Japanese about this location. It's really confusing. For anyone who's not clear, putting a stone lantern from Pier One next to a walkway does not make it a Japanese garden. To add insult to injury, they had the sprinklers going full blast at noon with only one pathway in and out. We got soaked, as did many other people who seemed like locals that were just trying to walk on their lunch break. I was hoping to stop here and feel a little more Zen but I left wet and annoyed.
