But I think they go here because it's also a long time establishment, a fixture, if you will, that got its start in 1946 by Walt and Eva. Who is Walt and Eva? Well I don't really know, but there's a big plaque of quotes about them on the wall so feel free to read up when you're there. From what I could gather they were locals, married young, married forever, who created a place for folks to eat, drink, and have something to do besides farm and drink in pastures. This place is loved. It's also drenched in Nebraska decor. That actually might be an understatement. It's covered from head to toe, light fixture to stool, napkin to salt shaker, with Husker stuff. And it's old. And I hate to say this...it's dusty and dirty. But that kind of adds to the charm I guess. I certainly wouldn't eat off the floors or anything. The food is a yummy hot meal with no frills. I had the fried chicken, which was moist. It could use a little salt/seasoning in the coating. I liked that it was crispy. The fries were also good. They had a nice crunch. The macaroni salad was yummy. Classic. My friend had a BLT. She really like that the bacon wasn't super fatty. The tomato soup she had was typical tomato soup. It wasn't homemade but it was hot. I thought it was sweet that they sell tiny ice cream cones, which we had for dessert. Just typical soft serve. I hope they clean the machine! The service was good enough. There were only a handful of people in the restaurant. We were there before the lunch hour. They also sold discount liquor and trinkets near the front of the store. We didn't check out the adjoining recreation/bowling hall.

The course overall is pretty well-maintained with the exception of a few bunkers that had standing water in them, however, there was a pretty bad rainstorm the night before. There's a couple of par threes, mostly par fours and maybe one or two par fives. A really good variety overall. Some of the cart paths take you through heavily wooded areas that make you feel like you're in the middle of the forest which was quite nice as well. I was a little less than impressed with the staff inside when they gave me towels and told me to wipe the water off my own golf carts. This was a little offputting as I really thought that would be the responsibility of the staff. Overall though, this is a great little course to play if you are in the area and want some great views.
