He was easily bothered by questions and it almost felt like we were dealing with an Ai robot. He was very cold almost to the point of being rude. My wife received an injection in her eye. He didn't prepare her what to expect when receiving the injection. That's why when he injected directly into her eye she jerked. He not only got upset with her for jerking, he asked the most ridiculous question. He asked "What's wrong " she explained that he hurt her. My wife said afterward that if he had prepared her for what to expect then she wouldn't have jerked the way she did. You can have all the education in the world but it still can't teach you to be compassionate. Compassion really comes from the heart. You can also tell by the way he speaks to his nurses. Hopefully he realizes soon that being a doctor doesn't make you better than everyone else it just provides you the opportunity to make people's lives better

First off, the doctors are wonderful but i have never encountered a more horrible staff in my life…read more I had made an appointment to see Dr Marten for a second opinion consultation . After months of my doctor sending medical information and trying to contact Dr marten and no response I decided to go in person to see her. My surgery with my doctor was being delayed by weeks while waiting for a response from Dr Marten and time for my surgery was running out. After a long wait I was finally taken back to the examination area where the staff insisted on dilating my eyes and putting me through all the "new patient" protocols, I could NOT make them understand I was not a "new patient" and was there for a consultation. The male tech was such a BULLY that I was forced to get the dilation ! When I got to the exam room I was informed that DR Marten wasn't even there that day! A nice young doctor finally came in and I told him what had happened he apologized profusely , they had FINALLY found the correspondence from MY doctor!! He didn't charge me for the visit, I was left to drive home,80 miles, with my eyes dilated. I didn't know where I was as I don't live in San Antonio . I'm 70 years old and thank goodness for my cars navigation or I never would have blindly found my way to the interstate. They didn't even offer to help me down the stairs to get me to my car! I was terrified driving the long distance home. I never got the consultation. Although the doctors are lovely and seem most competent I cannot recommend this office due to the abusive staff.

I first came here on August 12 after being referred to them by Dr. Christina Bui of Eye Associates…read moreof South Texas in New Braunfels. There is a review posted for them as well. Dr. Bui said that if I could make it to the E Sonterra location, they would see me. My brother-in-law drove me from New Braunfels to San Antonio, and when we arrived we were told that I could not be seen because the doctor had to catch flight. They told me I should come back the next day at a different location which was farther away (Huebner). So we came back the next day and I saw Dr. Mein. After waiting for at least 20 minutes, I was finally called back and I talked with a tech about my retinal detachment. And then they took me to a different room and said the doctor would be with me shortly. I finally was called by another tech maybe 30 minutes later, and then they said the doctor would be with me shortly. Forty-five minutes later, after sitting alone in a room by myself, the doctor came in and stood over me--literally hovered over me and asked me what the problem was. It was a little intimidating, but he probably figured it was easier to talk to me than try to look at my chart and figure out what the issue was. He did some more exams, and then sent me for some imaging. We discussed the retinal detachment and he said I would need surgery to repair it. I asked him if I could get in that day which was a Friday, and he said no, because the issue was they were having trouble finding anesthesiologists. Evidently this is a problem, because a lot of companies that employ anesthesiologists want them to work in hospitals and not in surgery centers. So I had already been experiencing this retinal detachment for two weeks due to a misdiagnosis at the other office in New Braunfels, so having to wait over a weekend was a little frightening. I kept wondering if it would detach completely and if I would go blind. They scheduled an appointment for me for surgery for Monday, and I saw Dr. Holy. I will post a separate review for Dr. Holy and the surgical center. All in all, I was grateful for the service that I received from this office. Their office manager did apologize to me for the miscommunication from the day before.

Ultimately, Bella Optical disappointed me. I'm almost sorry I'm writing this three star review,…read morebecause my appointments there were generally good, no nonsense eye checks. I enjoyed seeing the optometrists I saw. I visited Bella for no other reasons other than my yearly eye exam. I think I went a total of twice in a three year period. Seriously, no issues. BUT. There's always a "but" with these types of reviews, ammaright? I recently chose to switch optometrists to one that was more convenient and where my wife had a great experience. TWO WEEKS before my appointment, I contacted Bella through their website requesting my records - even if it was just copies of my last Rx. Nothing. Heard nothing. Then, about three days before my appointment, I CALLED. I left a detailed message with all my information. Guess what?! Yep. You got it. No return call, no email, no records sent in the mail. Am I too "old school" calling and asking for records!? Maybe. I mean, my new optometrists office scanned my glasses to determine my rx with no issues. But I emailed you, I called. No response. Overall, good experiences, but let down in the end.

I called in September and said "I'll call you, please stop calling", I called again in October and asked to be removed from their call list and was told by the call center agent that they can't do it. I called again this month and was told by the office that my number was removed and I should no longer be getting call. Today I just got another call. I've asked multiple times to have the call stopped and now this feels like harassment. I want the calls to stop effective immediately
