Sitterle and Maldonado exhibit a high level of integrity, expertise and genuine care for my eye health and vision needs; and the office staff is very knowledgeable and helpful!! Night driving is proving to be slightly blurry on occasion, so it was time to get the ol' eyes checked. Vision source has many locations all over the city, but I have only seen Dr. Sitterle. Vision source has loads of high-tech equipment to analyze all aspects of sight including peripheral vision, early detection of glaucoma, macular degeneration, and scans of the entire retina and cornea. Plan on at least an hour for your appointment because this place is thorough. Once the exam is over this location has an excellent selection of frames including the whole new OGI collection. Even the new cat-eyes...meow. Many of the lenses are in stock, so some orders can be finished in an hour. This clinic also has Saturday hours, which is very convenient. read more

I only came in to check if my eye was okay because it was red. They administered an eye exam that I did not request. They began to administer another sort of exam before I stopped to repeat that I was only there to have my eye checked. The doctor pressured me into purchasing contacts which I declined. I decided on eyeglasses. I was up-charged for each additional feature which they insisted I needed, such as lightweight lenses with no glare. My glasses were supposed to be ready a week ago. I received no phone call. I called to find out if they were ready, but they said the person who would know was not in, the glasses were still not ready, and they did not know "what was going on with them." Nice receptionist. This was my first visit to Dr. Sitterle. I did a little research on him and found that he has 4 1/2 stars out of 5, on Healthgrades.com , so I made an appointment to check my right eye, since I was having so much pain I could barely function when I had to look at anything! I was in tears almost constantly due to the pain, and Dr. Sitterle's office got me an appointment the same day I called. I was impressed with the staff and Dr. Sitterle. He examined my right eye and found the problem right away... an eyelash that was facing downward and touching my eyeball (upper eyelid)! He quickly removed the offending eyelash and the pain was gone! I was so happy! Dr. Sitterle was very caring and customer/patient oriented. I won't hesitate to come back for my future eye needs! The Dr. Nicole Maldonado is very sweet and patiently explains everything to you! We will only be using her for my daughters needs. Chad is the best and we really enjoy him when we have come in! He took the time to make sure my daughter was happy with her choice of sunglasses. We have been back a few times to get them adjusted because she picked ones that were a little big for face (she wanted that!) and he has been patient in adjusting them for her. The focus of the Dr Sitterle is on a product that is completely unrelated to your eyes; specifically Juice Plus. The female dr is very friendly, knowledgable, and very thorough in her explanations about your eyes. She is a two thumbs up. I was interested in contact lenses and the charge for learning to use contacts was $155. The girl who was to be teaching me spent more time in the next room than dealing with me so I insisted on a refund of that particular service. I had previously gotten glasses from here and decided to come back for an eye exam for contacts. Dr Maldonado is nice. HOWEVER, the staff is very disorganized and not professional. I originally went in for my eye exam in July. They had to order the trials for the contacts since they didn't carry the prescription I need, that's understandable. It took one week to get the trial in after the doctor told me it wouldn't take longer than 2-3 days. Also she had told me that when they came in I would need to schedule an appointment so she can check them while I tried them on. When I finally got a call to come pick up my contacts I asked about the appointment and they told me I didn't need to... SO I figured Maybe I misunderstood. I ended up having to schedule an appointment after I tried on my contacts since they were not working out for me. Dr Maldonado apologized for her staff not scheduling the appointment in the first place and was very helpful in figuring out what new trial I would need that would hopefully work better. She ordered a new trial and told me to at least expect a week since for some reason delivery was taking a little bit longer than usual. A week later I called for an update and no contacts... I called 2 more times and nothing... 2 WEEKS later I call and the staff is so DISORGANIZED that they kept telling me that I had already picked them up - I had to explain every time I called that this was the second trial! ANYWAY... when they were finally there they told me they had not called me because only one of the pairs was there - An update during the two weeks would have been nice. The new trial was better than the first one but Dr Maldonado and I agreed to try one more since I still felt like they were a bit off. I HAVE NOW BEEN WAITING FOR 4 WEEKS with no update - Even though Dr Maldonado told me she would keep me updated and would make sure these wouldn't take 2 weeks again since that was unacceptable. I finally called and the lady who answered first put me on a long hold to "go check" on my order. Then she comes back on the phone to tell me that I can schedule an appointment for the one pair that was in since they were still waiting on a second one they had not called me - AGAIN AN UPDATE WOULD BE NICE- I AM VERY FRUSTRATED WITH THIS STAFF, WHEN I TOLD HER ABOUT MY CONCERN AND ASKED WHEN THE SECOND PAIR WOULD BE IN ALL SHE TOLD ME WAS "WE NEED TO DO SOME RESEARCH" AN ORGANIZED STAFF WOULD KNOW WHEN THEIR ORDERS ARE IN AND UPDATES ON THE ONES THAT ARE NOT IN. I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO CALL MULTIPLE TIMES TO CHECK ON MY CONTACTS AND NOT ONLY THAT BUT I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO CALL TO EXPLAIN TO THEM WHAT THEY SHOULD ALREADY KNOW - INFORMATION THAT SHOULD BE ON MY FILE. AT THIS POINT I JUST WANT TO GO TO ANOTHER DOCTOR WHO WILL VERY LIKELY HAVE A STAFF THAT IS ORGANIZED AND ACTUALLY DOING THEIR JOB. read more

Today August 29, 2019 at 11 AM I went into Sitterle Vision Source for an appointment for annual eye exam. The first person to help me told me there was a co-pay so I said that I want to call my insurance to verify the amount. No problem. I'm over against the wall near the front door on the phone with my insurance company completely away from anybody and this employee in a black shirt is screaming at a customer on the phone her face is red from a heated Conversation .... I'm against the wall trying to listen over yelling to the prompts on my phone. Within seconds the lady takes the phone and slams it down. As I was trying to enter my insurance information over the phone she reaches across having to stand up and picked up my insurance card and starts talking to me telling me that I have a co-pay and I'm telling her that I'm trying to speak to my insurance company I'm trying to listen I can't hear and I say to her she shhh and she says in a very raised mad voice don't shh me!!! Arguing with me over the co-pay when I'm trying to explain to her that that's why I'm on the phone with my insurance She tells someone to get (chad) this big guy comes down the hallway she said something in his ear or something real quick it all happens really fast he tells me to get out I tell him I have an appointment at 11 and then I'm on the phone with my insurance company he said get out then he screamed it again then he held the front door closed I asked him his name he reopened it slightly and told me his name was Chad and then stood there and held the front door closed. Was looking for somewhere to take my brother to get his eye's checked properly before school started and looks like I found the right place. The office staff is very fast and friendly. Dr. Scott was great as well Annette. They explained everything to me about his vision and what glasses would be best. I would recommend going to a Sitterle vision to anyone. Dr. Sitterle is such a wonderful doctor as well as his staff. Everyone is very friendly and also appear happy with working at Dr. Sitterle's office. It's wonderful to see the same friendly faces every time I go there. The entire staff knows how to use the equipment which makes waiting time less. Dr. Sitterle is a very funny man but he takes your eye site very serious. He will continue working with you until he has your prescription right. I have a hard time rating this doctor because there were some good things about the visit and some really bad things. I arrived five minutes early because I knew there would be paperwork to fill out. I ended up waiting at the counter for 15 minutes until someone would acknowledge me. The receptionist was on the phone the entire time and did not even glance in my direction. When someone finally came and I signed in, I then waited another 10 minutes to be seen. The preliminary exam is excellent. State-of-the-art equipment makes going to the eye doctor a tad bit easier, especially for those who have anxiety about the machines that blow air in the eye. There was none of that here. The doctor is a complete useless airhead. I knew I should have walked out the moment I met him, but I stayed in the hopes that my initial judgement was wrong. I never once felt like Dr. Sitterle knew what he was doing. It seemed as though he watched an eye doctor on tv and then faked a degree and set up a clinic. He did not look into my eyes once, he did not answer questions I had about eye health, he seemed to have no idea how to determine someone's prescription. The only question he would answer were those that pertained to the cost of certain products, and he was incapable of giving a direct answer to those. He seemed to ignore even basic comments. For example, I told him what contact solution I preferred and which I did not like. When giving me contacts to try on, he tried to force me to use a brand of solution that I was not comfortable with. I finally had to get up and search the room myself to find something I could use. Then he spent ten minutes wondering around the room looking for something while I patiently waited for my checkout papers and info about when I would receive my prescription. It turns out that he had been looking for a sample of the solution to send home with me. This is the very solution that I repeatedly said did not work for me (it makes my eyes burn and water). I am fairly certain the doctor was stoned. I was finally able to leave the office. I very nearly scheduled myself an appointment with another doctor, but being without insurance means I'm paying out of pocket and I had not budgeted for two eye doctors in one year. I wanted nothing more to do with this clinic but I still needed to see what prescription the doctor wrote me. It was a huge hassle to get the Rx from them. The ladies at the desk became angry with me for not wanting to buy my contacts from their office and then tried to lie and say that I would pay twice as much anywhere else in the city or online, as though I hadn't already price-checked these things. FIRST time and last! Very rude staff, I took my five y/o to get his first pair of glasses. Of course he didn't know the procedure. Since my first step inside the office the receptionist had an angry face, she never smiled to me or looked into my eyes while talking to me. While waiting in the sitting area another member of the staff (Michelle) talked very rude to another elderly woman. Another patient said that she had the same bad experience every time. The girl making my son's eye exam was impatient and rude, never tried to make him feel comfortable. My son had never been in an optometrist office. She talked to him as if he was an adult. Then the Dr. Scott Was very annoyed with my son because he didn't know what to do when Dr. putted the machine on my son's face and kept asking him to tell him the letters on the screen. Last thing, that helped me to understand what was going in there, was that when I started to leave the room following Michelle, the Dr was talking to her and she would just walk away very rudely without even looking at him. The Dr seemed to be too friendly to his staff and that's why they don't respect him or the patients. I have been going to Dr. Sitterle for years now. All the people there are efficient, professional and very friendly. However, I do have three concerns. First, they have a machine that they say takes better images of your eyes and they recommend that you pay a fee that the insurance does not cover to use this machine. Question. Why would a doctor hold back on giving you the best eye care possible? The fact that most insurances do not cover the cost of this exam raises red flags about its necessity and effectiveness. Secondly, I was given some literature stating that for proper eye health one must eat large quantities of specific types of fruits. Instead of just stating this seemingly important information or telling you where to buy it, they sell it there for your convenience. Again, I question the motives of this organization. Thirdly, after my exam, I asked the Dr. if they could provide me with the interpupillary distance. This is information they already have and is needed to for buying a new pair of eyeglasses. When I asked the Dr. If they would provide me with this measurement, she said that they would give it to me for a fee and do not normally give it out because it is not required by law to do so. Huh? I feel that they are pressuring me into buying things that I do not need and/or not providing me with the things that I do need. Over the years, I endured the first two problems but this last visit on 7-31-2015 when they wanted to charge me for providing me with the interpupillary distance, a measurement of my own body that they collected was the last straw. Sir I did not misunderstand. The bill as well as your staff was quite clear the $75 fee was for the contacts class only as I was charged separately for the doctor examination. Same goes for the $25 fee which like I stated, I got done for free elsewhere. You contacted me asking me to call your phone so you could "explain to me". I did not need an "explanation" as, like I said, it was perfectly clear via your staff and the bill. Your best efforts are to say you're sorry I misunderstood. Frankly that sounds a bit condescending. Although I understand your posts now are in an effort to explain my post as unjustified and credit it to my so called "misunderstanding" .... I posted only after YOUR office sent me an email asking me to rate you. So I did. Nevertheless, that was my experience with your business and nothing at this point can change the past.
