I strongly disagree with Bree's response. Nausea and pain are a good reason to do a CBC to rule out infection. A medical provider confirmed that a CBC (and CMP to assess electrolytes) after infection symptoms is standard protocol. The Marque physician also stated those tests would be appropriate, yet we were ushered out without explanation or further discussion-- I forgive the individuals involved and I hope meaningful changes result from this experience read more

So came here on. Wednesday at 12:15 pm they promptly took my money and then I waited 40 min for a room and then another hour before a Dr came in ... no one communicated at all that the wait would be this long i actually thought everyone went to lunch and left me so I walked out of room to be told 1 more patient ahead of me the whole process was over 2 hrs without any communications from anyone. Now I go get prescription and it's not at pharmacy that I gave their office so called and confirmed location and they said they will resend well my pharmacy just told me they sent it to wrong location again . So incompetent scattered and they are great at taking your money when u walk in but beyond that go to a different location. Wasted 4 hrs of my day for a walk in what a joke. Well this wasn't my first visit here , and they did better on the previous one . Here is the major problem you will face : they are understaffed , they will walk to waiting room and make you wait 1h no joke a full 1h , and that is not because they had 12 people ahead of you . After a very negative experience I will not return to this or any other Marque location. After two days of being quite ill, unable to get out of bed, and requiring medical attention, I was able to make it to this location 15min before closing time. The staff made it clear that closing time was at 8pm. It seemed like their priority was to leave at 8 rather than helping me be seen. I felt rushed and pressured to find my electronic card - almost harassed to produce it as the staff reminded me the office was closed. I was not able to afford my $35 copayment and When I asked if I could be billed I was told the corporate policy prohibited that. I left with the impression that rather than helping me receive urgently needed medical attention, their ability to collect $35 was priority. And with that I was sent home. Very troubling that Marque is in a healthcare business that prioritizes $35 over providing medical attention to a person in immediate need of it. Not my kind of service provider. Providing medical attention to improve My health and wellness was not Marque's priority tonight. Won't be recommending this location nor returning. read more

I'm going to be honest, I'm extremely frustrated. I did a telemedicine call because I could feel I had an ear infection. I'm pretty prone to them. I get on the telemedicine appointment with Holly about 20 minutes past my appointment time. Granted, it's hard to diagnose an ear infection over telemedicine. However Holly pretty much "diagnosed" me with COVID via telemedicine, which is also unreasonable. I had absolutely 0 COVID symptoms. My main complaint were my ears. I go into the office after the telemedicine appointment. I get tested for COVID and strep by an extremely rude MA. Another Dr came in to check my ears and saw that both ears were extremely red. MA comes back and rudely tells me that I can leave. Do I get antibiotics?? Will someone tell me what's going on?? Absolutely no answer from that MA except pure rudeness. I worked at an urgent care for 2 years; I know what happens and the different protocols that are in place. I ask to speak to someone else and the sweetest MA Justina was willing to go above and beyond for me and answered all of my questions. She let me know she was in contact with Holly and she'll call me once the antibiotics have been sent to the pharmacy. She kept her word. Justina is the only reason for this 2 star review. Without her kindness I honestly would have given this place a 0. I am extremely disappointed. read more

I was sent to this clinic recently with my grandson, who hurt himself and was sent there as a workers' compensation visit. While the facility was clean, we were there on an emergency basis and had to wait close to three hours. My grandson was in pain the entire time. When Dr. Wade finally came to see him, he displayed a total absence of sensitivity toward my grandson and, without even doing a full exam, he took about 30 seconds to send us to the hospital by saying only, "Well, what do you want me to do?" We have experienced countless medical settings and professionals over the years and have never felt so disregarded or encountered so much insensitivity from a physician. read more

The office staff is fine. The medical staff, while all licensed physicians, not so much. If you're in need of first aid I believe you'll be fine, however, anything more serious I'd recommend seeing your personal physician if possible, or visit an emergency room if not. My wife was recently diagnosed with having a virus. Nothing specific. No prescription for medication and no suggestions. A week later she wound up in the emergency room at 6 am with pneumonia. This might have been avoided had she been treated differently (antibiotics) by urgent care doc. Urgent care is fine for first aid. Anything more serious than a cut finger may require alternative medical care. In all fairness, urgent care physicians see many patents each shift presenting many different illnesses, and this can be overwhelming. read more

After only about an hour of wait, the doctor saw me & worked her magic to num, cut, & remove my tiny diamond earring from inside my ear... What an absolute horror right! This place acts like they accept my insurance (Blue Shield PPO) and then I get billed as OUT OF NETWORK. It's happened twice. My insurance says they are billing under an out of network doctor. Marque says it's a problem with my insurance and the way it's processed. It's an expensive and annoying hassle. It's happened twice this year....so I'll never come back here!!!! Watch out! Came in for a sore throat, Dr. Wade took one look at it and said I had strep, no swab was done. He prescribed an antibiotic and 3 days later I am not any better. I go back, they finally swab me, no Strep, no Covid ($69 for a covid test) no Mono. Saw Dr. Wade again, he pretty much said there is nothing he can do but prescribe me lidocaine for the pain. I go to the pharmacy to pick it up and it is on back order, the pharmacy tried calling Marque but got hung up on twice. So I just left with nothing. This place SUCKS. read more

I hurt my foot. I had VERY bad bruising, swelling and could not bear weight on my foot. I literally came in on crutches. Dr. Alison Sims was rushed, not thorough and missed that my heel was fractured! (Plus bad bone bruising in 2 areas in my mid foot) See uploaded photo. She literally told me to take Advil with meals, wear tennis shoes and start walking on it. I went to a foot specialist who was amazing. He put my foot in a boot for 6+ weeks. Imagine if I had taken the advice I was given at Marque and tried to walk on it!! Also, she said she would have their office email me my X-rays later that day. I contacted their office 4 times trying to get the X-rays to bring to my appointment with the foot specialist. Never got the X-rays. Finally got a PDF of written copy "summarizing" the X-ray. Very impressed with this place (and I have a bunch of experience with medical matters) Reception people were very nice and accommodating and helpful. Dr. Mark Wade was helpful, patient, wise and kind and he prescribed just the right antibiotic for me. I'm so glad to know about them, and they're close by. They made me feel like they genuinely cared. A good team! I went back for further treatment, where Dr. Jonathan Fraser treated me for a skin infection. I found him to be patient and thorough. I liked his manner, and he's very smart. He was also extremely nice and very courteous and understanding. Dr. Fraser gave me some very helpful information and I left feeling much better than when I arrived. A big shout-out to the office and medical staff, also! Always friendly, helpful and resourceful -- Alyssa, Sofia, Aysa and Eloisa. How nice to have competent AND friendly people to help you when you're checking in and doing the pre-check. I would give zero stars if possible. Careless doctors that do the bare minimum. The 'care' I received was borderline negligent. Dr. Alison Sims did not even examine me and went off on some bizarre tangent about how I must have hurt it walking a dog, I don't even own a dog. My friend had to cut her off and let her know we felt like she was not taking my injure seriously at which point Dr.Sims became aggressive and left the room. I initially had a negative experience with this urgent care when I took my kids there for flu shots. I was told by Coastal Kids next door that they accepted my insurance, and I was not told otherwise when I provided them with my insurance info. I additionally had no reason to assume that they would not accept my insurance because I overpay for an insurance plan that provides me the luxury of seeing any doctor I wish anywhere in California. When I tried to rectify the situation with the billing department via the email that was provided, things took a turn for the worse, with the person on the other end insinuating that I was a fool for making the assumption that my insurance would cover flu shots. But when Bree took notice of this dilemma, she swiftly and professionally rectified the issue. So if there is an issue you would like addressed, spare yourself the headache I endured and just address the issue with Bree directly. She will turn your frown upside down. read more

Took my daughter in and she was diagnosed with the flu. Took her in AGAIN a week later because her symptoms changed and worsened (she was coughing up yellow and green phlegm with blood in it and the fever had not stopped). They did not do anything other than send her home and said it's still the flu that can last 12 days and she should have kept taking Tamiflu(even though it caused her to vomit). The same night, I called the pediatrician to tell them what was going on and they could not believe that was the diagnosis, sounded more like bronchitis, and called in a Z pack. For the first time in 10 days my daughter's fever broke by morning. read more

I made an appointment for a simple non-emergency procedure. The appointment was delayed for 10 minutes and I received a text message informing me of the delay. No problem. I arrived 10 minutes ahead of the appointment time and checked in. I waited in the waiting room for over an hour before they escorted me back to a private room and took my vitals. The medical technician assured me that the doctor would be in very soon to give me a quick observation and then the procedure could begin. One hour later, I never saw anyone. I just got up and left. Hi Krista, thank you for your response. It would have taken less than 30 seconds for the doctor to examine me and authorize the procedure. This is clearly a case of total mis-management and neglect on behalf of the doctor, regardless of the case-load circumstances. There is absolutely no excuse for a 2 hour wait after check-in and a 1 hour wait after check of vitals with a firm appointment time, and you know it and own it. This could have been avoided with 30 seconds of patient care. In response to your response, your staff absolutely did not notify me of another patient who needed immediate attention and that there would be a delay, as you mentioned. There was absolutely no discussion regarding re-scheduling the appointment. In fact, I was told the doctor would be in shortly before waiting an additional hour. I realize you would have no way of knowing this, but those statements are completely false. I have no reason to be misleading. read more

So, not only did they lose money on a service (which they didn't actually perform), but they also lost money in that they had to pay for the administrative costs of the charge-back. I am shocked by the review here from Laura M. - saying that Dr. Sims is caring and attentive. I went in yesterday as Coastal Kids (Newport Beach Location) and my son had a few medical issues (struggling to breath ever 7th breathe, ear hurt, leg hurt) so they directed me next door to this Marque Urgent Care. I said we had done a covid test 3 days prior yet, they made us take one (waiting 20 minutes and $60 later and negative which I new would be). The one staff member was SO NICE :) and gave my son and me water and apple juice. Nice office and has TV in room. (my son said, We are ONLY coming here again it is wonderful) Yet, Dr. Sims ruined the experience for me. I explained that we have been to court and have had CPS involved and the father does not give medication to the son. When Dr. Sims came in the room - she spoke only to my son and dismissed anything I said and did not even look at me (like I was a nuisance bad Mom) and the entire appt was only 3 minutes and she did not let me say anything. It almost made me cry. She discovered and said aloud "Wow he has a large ear infection!" It made me feel like "wow there is something wrong with him (he has an ENT and Father does not administer meds).) I have never felt so life. I don't see my son for another 7 days and I wanted to make sure he was ok. I was shocked to my core. If you are a blonde Mom in Newport Beach and have court issues (in the best interest of our child) this lady freaked me out with her judgement (she is tall and brunette and mean looking to me - probably because she was so heartless and cruel to me as a Mom) :) Prescription given and he did have a infection. :( My son said, "wow mom - that was the fastest 3 minutes of a doctor appt ever (after waiting 40 minutes).
