Went to uc as a walkin. Front desk lady was nice and welcoming The wait wasn't long at all. Nurse was nice, he checked me in and took vitals. Doc came in shortly after. She was welcoming and listened to my problem, gave me my orders and off i went. I would go back to this uc but hopefully i won't need to. read more

Nurse AARON, you my friend are what we need more of in the health industry. Before I was even called back, I heard a man making little kids laugh and giggle in a doctors office; normally, you hear cries and fearful voices, not around Aaron. You took me back and made a horrible and scary day, not as bad. Thank you for not only being kind but making light of everything so I didn't feel so alone. I later heard you tell a little girl as she was leaving "bye rockstar" and heard her say "I'll see you tomorrow!" Excitedly. Again, making little kids happy and not scared to be in a doctors office. The care and service at Hoag always exceeds my expectations. The staff was so kind and I felt genuinely cared for.

My son had an apt for the urgent care. He was ordered an x ray and then told to wait for the results so they can give him medication if needed. He was not having an urgent situation but they wanted to do an x ray just to make sure. He got the xray, came back and waited as told to find out x ray is completely normal. Now he got the bill- they charged nearly $1,000 for this xray even though it was an urgent care visit. They didn't notify him that getting the xray is going to cost him "hospital rates." Very dishonest practice. Last time he took an x ray order to a radiology facility it was $25. Somehow now after insurance paid a large amount, his payment is still almost $500. They should have given him the option and told him that it would not be included in his urgent care copay. He's young and can't afford this sort of bill and they took advantage of him. read more

Having to go to urgent care is never really fun, but this Hoag Urgent Care location made things pretty smooth. I had a minor issue and couldn't get an appointment at my doctors office until late the afternoon one day, so I looked for an urgent care. I was able to look online for wait times and they didn't have a wait so I saved myself a spot in line and came in. I immediately went to front desk checked in with no line and in about 15 minutes I was brought back, waited for the PA/NP for 5 minutes and they were with me for probably 3 minutes and then I was out the door with a prescription. The PA/NP was pretty fast and efficient in assessing the situation and we had a quick plan established. I had a question and I thought he'd come back a nurse came back in to hand me my paperwork but the nurse couldn't answer my question and the PA/NP went off to the next room already. Would just suggest that the PA/NP's just go ahead and make sure patients know they are leaving and not coming back and the one handing you paperwork would be a MA or LVN who might not know what's going on. But either way the after visit summary answered my question. If i had something more complicated going on would have expected a little more time with the care provider. read more

Answered all my questions and was patient and didn't rush me. Reminded me of my pediatric doctor growing up. Serena is the best doctor I've ever visited in Orange County in almost 8 years I've lived out here. Thankful for her today and her explaining my medication. Went to this Urgent Care for possible foot fracture. 1) the front desk person was sick and coughing a lot without a mask on. While waiting I saw several elderly patients so was a bit surprised she wasn't required or thought to wear one. We're 5 years out of a global pandemic and she didn't think to put a mask on. 2) I was only seen by a PA and never evaluated by a medical doctor. Granted my x-Ray was read by a radiologist offsite. I've been to other Urgent Care centers in the area and I was always seen by a medical doctor. 3) I had been taking over the counter pain medication but still had significant pain so I asked for something so I could sleep. I was instructed to keep taking over the counter. I don't take pain medication unless I need to so after telling them I wanted something to help me sleep, plus the fact I need to avoid blood thinners as I have low platelets, this was a bit of a shock. 4) warning for all! I paid my $50 copay at the time of visit. I then got a bill for additional cost for the boot they gave me that was way too big but was the only size they had in stock I could strap to my foot. I took it as I thought it was covered and they never said this would be an additional charge. BE SURE TO ASK IF ANY CHARGES ARE NOT COVERED BY YOUR COPAY before you accept it because they have you sign a form you are responsible for your bill. 5) Hoag Hospital is rated as one of the top hospitals in the country, however, the overall care at their Urgent Care is subpar. I'll never go back to that location or recommend it to anyone. read more
