I opened a checking account later 2019 with CNB of Oak Forest, IL. Deposits were only made into…read morethe account. Although I had experienced a minor issue shortly after opening the account, I stayed with them. However, in 2020, within less than a three-month timeframe there were two major errors from them that cause me to believe that some of them are not competent; they caused the following two transactions in my account that did not stem from me: 1) some employee within the bank erroneously made a deposit entry into my account (I brought this to the bank's attention when I noticed it on my statement), and 2) They cashed a check against my account that belonged to another person's account. It seems that it takes some time for them to correct their mistakes, which I am still waiting for the correction on #2) above. So far, I haven't received an apology or sorry for the inconvenience from any of the individuals I have spoken with. Once I receive my funds back, I will definitely close out this account. I do not recommend this bank.

However, I said to the teller, "This is the only bank out of many locations I have been to that doesn't take deposits, why is that?" The teller, name Samara, let roll out of her mouth very quickly, "The ATM is having issues right now and someone is coming to work on it today, they should be here soon." Yeah right, I said, but it has been like this For Ever! I know, she said, but they are coming to fix it today. When I got back inside my car, the time was 4:30 in the afternoon, and I thought to myself, I rather for her to just apologize for the inconvenience, than for her to stare me in my face and let that bold face lie come out of her mouth! I did NOT sign for that loan but was required to sign the Homestead Waiver as the spouse or my husband would not get the loan. I was never on the deed. He passed away in 2023 and transferred his house to his kids. They have defaulted on the loan. It is now in foreclosure. I was SUED as a guarantor on their house!! Apparently, it is normal procedure to sue anyone who might have an interest in the house?? Just throwing stuff at the wall to see what will stick. This created a nightmare for me. I have lived in my own house that I've owned for over 40 years. We were separated for 12 yrs. UPDATE: 5/28/2025 I have been dismissed ( pre trial) as a defendant in this case after having explained to the plaintiff/attorney that I had only signed a Homestead Waiver. After a brief hold the fraud department clerk came back and told us she did not have that information and we would have to call customer service I called customer 800-600-9998 service and explained to the agent the situation and asked again when was the last time they had a data breach. She asked if she could put me on hold to find out and she forgot to put me on hold. I literally heard her say, "We can't tell them that can we?" She went on to say, "He called the fraud department and they wouldn't tell him so now he's calling us." It must have been at this time she realized she left her mic open because that was the last thing I could hear until she returned to tell me she doesn't have that information. I asked who does? Can you tell me who I need to call? And customer service for Fifth Third Bank said "NO, I can't tell you that either." What is going on when a bank cannot tell its customers if they had a data breach and when? I thought that was the law they had to tell you when the data breach happened. This is scary stuff when even your bank is working against you to protect your identity and accounts.
