    Balcony

I was disappointed with my stay at this Marriott. This was my second time staying here, and unfortunately, I experienced another issue with my room. The biggest concern was the balcony. I paid the same rates as other guests but was assigned a room with a balcony that was significantly smaller than the standard ones. It was so small that you couldn't even comfortably sit facing the ocean. I was told this was because I had a room with two beds, but that information was never disclosed when booking. Had I known, I would have chosen a different room type. What was most frustrating was the response from staff. Rather than offering a reasonable solution or any gesture of goodwill, I was told I could walk around and compare balconies in other rooms. That wasn't a solution--it simply highlighted that I had received an inferior room for the same price. I expect consistency and transparency from Marriott, especially as a returning guest. The room itself was fine, but the lack of communication and customer service surrounding this issue left me feeling like my concerns weren't valued. I hope Marriott will be more transparent about room differences in the future and do a better job of making things right when guests have legitimate concerns.

IYKYK, just in case you don't...Marriott VA Beach is fabulous!! Easy check-in, friendly services and a ton of amenities!! Numerous restaurants nearby(walking distance). The weather was sunny, cloudy, very breezy (depending on day), definitely feels like fall. Here for a work conference and they could not have selected a better venue. Absolutely love my visit and definitely recommend!!

If you want to get in the holiday spirit, come to this place! It's decked in a Winter Wonderland setting, from woodland creatures, such as reindeer and the snowy owl, to a family of polar bears. The lobby is decked out in woodsy Christmas trees and snow drifts and tinsel. The halls are lined with vibrant poinsettias and greenery thoughtfully placed. So if you're feeling like you need a break or a little down, step into this beautiful winter wonderland! It's sure to lift your spirits and put a little merriment or joy into your heart!!

Check-in took a long time. The entrance is shared with the embassy suites and that becomes a bottleneck for the cars to get to the parking lot- we waited for 15 mins before we could even enter the garage after a 4 hour drive. The rooms are modern and clean but rather small if you have 4 in your party. The hotel is nice with multiple (expensive) restaurants on property. They also have a private beach (kinda). The elevators are poorly coordinated and can also become a bottleneck during checkin times. They finally gave some complimentary water bottles on our last day (only) after I mentioned my status with Marriott.

    Marriott's "Ocean View"

I specifically booked and paid a premium rate for two Junior Suites with ocean views and couches. Upon arrival, I discovered that only one room met the description of a Junior Suite. The second room was not a suite at all, but a standard room with two queen beds and no couch, which is materially different from what was confirmed at booking. Additionally, neither room provided a true ocean view. Instead, the so-called "view" was a partial ocean view at best, with the primary view being the Embassy Suites building. This is not what was advertised, nor what I paid for. (see attached photos of my "ocean view") This experience was especially upsetting given the circumstances. I was traveling with my recently widowed mother, and this was meant to be a meaningful and comfortable New Year's Eve stay for us. Instead, it was stressful, disappointing, and far from the experience I intentionally selected and paid a premium to provide. I called multiple times and was assured a manager would call me back. They never did. The next day I finally got a manager who offered $75 (which I still have yet to see credited.) We spent almost $900 on these falsely advertised rooms. * One room was not a Junior Suite * There was no true ocean view * Amenities explicitly booked were not provided * The price paid did not reflect the accommodations received * This situation is completely unacceptable for a Marriott

This property was beautiful. The location to everything in VA Beach is convenient. My room was great and had an ocean view. The staff was attentive. The meeting rooms were more than adequate and styled perfectly for the area. The food that was presented was satisfying. The rooftop bar is very cool with spectacular views of the ocean. I'd definitely stay here again when I return to VA Beach. Till next time....

We had an incredible weekend getaway here!! The service was great from the moment we checked in until the day we left. Incredible views (when the weather was cooperative) and such a relaxing atmosphere. Shout out to the dolphins for adding a little extra charm by constantly being around. We enjoyed the bars, the pools, and the food at Orions Roof. Definitely will be back! You can see more about our experience by checking out our video! https://youtu.be/eAr91JV8-K0

Doug our bellhop was very nice and gave us all the info we needed! The staff are super friendly! My fiancé and I went here for a little getaway! My one and worst complaint is the motion censored bathroom lights, which leads to the occasional black out in the shower .

Checked into this hotel during my stay in Virginia Beach and this hotel is absolutely breathtaking. The oceanfront view is definitely worth the upgrade, because the views are just breathtaking . Waking up every morning to the sounds of the waves crashing and watching the sunrise here is something you must do in your life at least once. I was refreshingly surprised because I have stayed at Marriott's before, but this hotel was exceptional and one of a kind! We checked in Friday night and the staff was friendly and very accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable and the hotel itself is modern and very clean. During our stay we ordered room service from the hotel cafe, this was not great- the food was mediocre and the juices we ordered were not fresh they were bottled. The coffee was also terrible so we decided to not order room service again thereafter and ventured out to eat. I wanted to try the rooftop restaurant, the Orion, but there were no reservations available at the time of my stay which was disappointing but good to know in the future you must reserve in advance. The hotel is situated between a few other hotels and next to a beach club which you have access too. Also across the street from the historic Cavalier hotel. The area itself is gorgeous and very safe and there is parking on site with your reservation. I wish the food in the hotel was somewhat better but the overall stay was incredible and I would definitely come back just to enjoy the ocean views!!!

This review is not based on a hotel stay but rather than several private events I attended during the week. I did give them 5 stars despite the parking. I rolled up for a Gala in the Seaside Ballroom and was told there was no parking. I did not like that. I believe that parking is very difficult there because that garage is for hotel guests for 2 hotels and for the restaurants that locals go to such as Orions Roof and Tulu. It's just frustrating. The 1st event was outdoors and there was a live band. The food was buffet style and there was plenty of seating. It was actually the 1st time I was at the Cavalier Beach Club because it's closed to non members. I absolutely stuck my feet in the beautiful pool because I might not get another chance. It was very nice and the food was delicious. The setting is just beautiful. Going there makes me think that I am on vacation and no longer in VB. It's classy and beautiful. Wednesday I was in the Seaside Ballroom and the room is very large and easily held everyone. They had a bottle of red and white wine on the table but they also had dessert already on the table which I did not care for. The table was already so crowded. The salad was very fresh and wasn't drowned in dressing. The meat was very tender and had good flavor. It's hard to cook for a large crowd like that and it was well executed. Huge shoutout to 2 awesome bartenders.....Missy and Kevin. They were funny, friendly and just so nice!!!!! I enjoyed talking to them. Overall this is a great venue, it's classy and beautiful and the staff are incredibly friendly. Worth checking out for a staycation or a vacation or just and enjoy a meal at Tulu or Oriens.

My husband and I only stayed here one night on a weekday in a king bed junior suite. The hotel itself is new, modern and so beautiful. Our room was so spacious, simple, and clean! The balcony has a view of the beach, but you have to step outside and look left to see the beach. Inside the room are 2 pairs of house slippers, 2 robes, plenty of towels, toiletries in the shower and bar of soap on sink, sofa bed with extra linens, huge comfy bed, and just have to mention again how much space there was! There was a little hallway once you enter your room which I feel like spaced us away from the outside noise since our room was right by the exit. I appreciated how the parking garage is easily accessible from the lower floor rooms. The fitness center has brand new equipment - cardio machines, leg press, leg curl, bench, free weights, cable machine. Right outside on the property are beach chairs, limited seating by fireplaces, and easy access to the beach and boardwalk. Every single staff member we encountered were friendly and helpful!

This is a beautiful resort loaded with three interesting hotels. There is a Marriott, an Embassy Suites, and the best of them all is the historic Cavalier Hotel, which isn't part of a chain - But a single owner owns all three hotels. They have several really nice restaurants to choose from, ranging from casual and bars to a couple very nice, high-end restaurants. The service at Cavalier was outstanding! Everyone we encountered provided outstanding service! The service at the Marriott - Not so much! Too many of them felt like they were doing people a favor by being there, especially at the front desk. Checking in was completely inadequate. I don't seek being having my status acknowledged, but when they don't, I start to pay more attention to everything else they do. They simply checked me and gave me the wrist band; there was no explaining the property, giving suggestions, and they definitely didn't offer points or breakfast based on status. I had to ask if there was an M Club and that's when they told me there wasn't and provided cards for breakfast. The other, bigger issue with checking in was the horribly very long lines and only 2 counters of people checking in - craziness! Especially when you're there for a conference, like we were. The other issue was the tiny pool. This place it pretty big, with lots of rooms, and tons of people staying here, especially families. The tiny pool was packed with kids, not very relaxing for adults. The beach area was nice though, and it's nice that they give chairs on the beach for free, but they charge $30 for an umbrella - RIDICULOUS! Especially, since I saw people walk straight on the beach and take up a spot under an umbrella someone else left when leaving the beach, thus it was free for them. The room was decent, but the humidity in it was ridiculous! The air conditioner didn't seem to expel the moisture in the air, like ACs typically do, so all our clothes were damp when we got dressed and left the room. The elevators aren't temperature controlled at all and they take forever to arrive to pick up when the hotel is busy. Overall, it's a beautiful area and a very nicely decorated hotel, the management is what needs improvement. It's clearly very lax on all these employees without direction, drive, or proper execution. Unfortunately, I'm stuck having to stay here a couple more times over the next several months due to other conferences I need to attend.

Beach view from the 22nd floor.

10 out of 10 highly recommend. I wrote a much longer review on TripAdvisor but this app wouldn't let me copy and paste and I really didn't want to write the long review again, but this was one of the best Marriott's I have ever stayed on!! If you want luxury on the beach this is the place for you!

I visited during off-peak season so noise and traffic wasn't too big of an issue at the hotel. I wouldn't want to stay here during the busier times in the summer. I loved how much ocean soundscapes I could hear from the 5th floor balcony. The view was beautiful and the room felt quiet. Something I super appreciated. The only gripes I had was the mandatory valet parking and the extremely low shower pressure. The sink had drainage issues too. I also ran out of towels during my overnight stay. There's no suite, dresser, or closet in the room either. So think short-term stays. I still wouldn't mind returning again in the future and wouldn't hesitate recommending the place to anyone thinking of visiting. The downstairs lobby has breakfast spot as well as a bar and coffee shop. The concierge was friendly and very accommodating. Shoutout to Alexander for making sure everything was set up just right for my visit. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!

The hotel is nice! That was not the issue. The hotel amenities were just small. The pool was super small and with the amount of kids there it was almost like a kids school function or daycare. Then the dogs....I love cute little doggies. But traveling with your animal to vacay is weird to me. It's also gross to smell dog when you get in your room or in the halls. There were so many doggies on vacation with their owners and they'd leave them in the room while they ventured. It was odd. Walking to our room we got barked at, then like a domino effect, the entire doggie day care hall was barking to each other. The view was great! Beds were eh, but I learned that Va Beach is not where you go for a real princess vacay getaway. The room rate was 500$ a night for an ocean view. Now, I have no problem spending that on a room but if you're going to spend that amount per night might as well go somewhere nicer, with better beaches (blue ones), and a real resort. The view is nice but for the price, no. Not after being all over the world this summer at places much nicer and just as expensive, his money could go elsewhere. This past weekend, Aug 14-17, we learned that room rate sky rocket for a last minute getaway and likely were just as high even if we booked earlier. Wouldn't do book last minute ever again and likely would never come back to Va Beach. Staff were friendly. Cute hotel just way too many kids and pets. Plus beds were okay but not the fluffy beds at other Marriott locations.

Staying here you do have some perks they give you a complementary drink voucher for you to use during your day and it's for each day for you to get two drinks during happy hour which is from 4 to 6pm and snacks are included with that. Breakfast was well served and well prepared. They had every section to breakfast classic foods as well as if you want it it's more of like quick and simple like cereal, bread, toast, and then they have their own station of omelette where they had a chef that would prepare it based off of what you requested. The layout is very nice. I love how they gave us wristbands instead of a key card for our rooms and to use the elevator. It's very secure as well as being able to not have to carry around a hotel key to get in and out of your room as well as any other areas where it has access to it. The vibe itself for the hotel it definitely gives you like a vacation outside of your classic beach vibe because you have pools. You have an indoor pool and an outdoor pool and a restaurants. this right there called tacos and tequila. They are currently opened but I we'll highly recommend getting there during their non-peak hours, and their food is amazing. Their Baja fish taco is my favorite to get from there. They also give you the option for parking valet parking as well as parking pass, which is the overnight rate which is $25 an hour and you can go in and out of a parking lot. That's another thing I did like about that general area where the other hotels including this one is that they have a parking garage where you're not obligated to have to to get another ticket or get charged extra for going out if you needed to so I didn't think that's a good perk for me by that wants to stay and have a staycation but still has to do some type of things throughout the day. I would highly recommend going to these hotels. The room service from the restaurant option is the restaurant where you get the complementary drinks from and they are operating throughout the night even later hours and I do find that very convenient for people that like to go out like Myself and wanna have like a nice good bite or even dinner our late night dinner I got their salmon which was really good. This location is definitely a hidden gem You're kinda in your own oasis away from home, but you're in Virginia Beach because they have it set up where it's essentially like you're on a private island and you just have like the view point of the beach and they offered other enemies, including beach, chairs, umbrellas, and stuff with your say so that's also a good thing for people that want to just get away for a little bit but wanna stay in Virginia Beach so I highly recommend staying here as an option if you're looking for something that has a little bit of everything and you have nearby access to other things like the other restaurants that are in that same area.

The housekeeping staff does a meticulous job cleaning each room after the guests leaves. Throughout our nearly 6 months stay, Jerome and Herbert in particular have really gone out of their way to keep our stay here feel like home. For example, when our A/C unit failed in the middle of murky summer, Jerome replaced the entire unit right away. I have also had trouble handling the incredible humidity I've not experienced since leaving Japan. But thank goodness for Jerome again --he ensured I had a really good dehumidifier that also helped muffle noises as well. I cannot emphasize enough on what a truly instrumental role he had played in keeping my whole family feel comfortable. I find that especially noteworthy because we were there for quite awhile. The Lodge location is steps away from the Dam Neck Naval Base Beach and the sunrise is beautiful. It also has a kitchenette that is fully functional to cook a good meal unless you need an oven. The fridge is big enough to put in whatever you need and the stove is easy to cleanup. The cabinets are stuffed with everything you'd find in a kitchen. Cooking utensils, pots, pans, plates, cups, wine openers, wine glass, dish rack, soap and sponge. You name it, they have it. And this is what really makes the stay better than being over at the Navy Gateway Inns and Suites (NGIS) if you are here for awhile-- especially if you are like me and prefer to cook your own meals, staying at the Lodge is a MUST. And if you have pets, the Lodge is also AN ABSOLUTE must. One of the great things about Navy Lodge Oceana is how pet friendly it is. Our two beagles loved the area and there are 3 receptacles on-site to keep doggie poo thrown out. Keep in mind that it is a high tick and flea area so ensuring they get brushed after a walk is a must! Well, not unless you like to shriek like me when I found two ticks on my laptop thanks to my dog ubering them inside. And just for the record, both dogs also take Nexgard and Heartgard monthly. Now the NGIS might work beautifully for those who are in the Dam Neck /Oceana area for short term stay, or ok with eating takeouts every day because you don't cook, and /or doesn't have pets. Or that they'd prefer the nicer furniture or less noise to deal with. I've stayed at both and NGIS is far easier to make reservations for leisure and their beds are very comfortable. In sum, I had a fantastic stay and I look forward to returning every chances I get. For $75/night, the rates are exceptional and the location is perfect. I wouldn't hesitate recommending it to everyone. -- Cons: Elevator--The building has no elevator. So if you have loads of luggages, you will need to take it to your room upstairs using the staircase. Reservation --Making reservation here can be pretty easy if you are staying because of TAD/TDA/PCS orders. For leisure traveling, you'd have better luck at the NGIS or other nearby civilian operated hotels. The leisure travel can be only made 7 days ahead of the stay. And chances are, you are 99% likely to be told they have nothing for vacancies, or they have something for just 1 day out of a 7 day trip or something very inconvenient. WiFi--The WiFi here can be spotty, nonexistent, or extremely slow. If there's someone playing video games in the evening, you can tell right away and you have a bad night ahead of you if you need the Internet. It'd be far less frustrating to get Internet connection elsewhere. Also, the cellphone data connection here is also rather lousy. So no, using data won't help with watching YouTube or something else. If you need to make a call, you'd also have better luck by going outside. You'll see bunches of other sailors or marines pacing and walking around sometimes for the same reason. Noise level--You can hear just about everything from your surroundings. Toilet flushing, heart stopping door slams, other dogs barking all day, people's conversations and/or TV sounds all hours of day, jets, gunshots from the swamp side, housekeepers cleaning , anything in the hallway, etc. Privacy Please sign on the door doesn't mean much either. So if your next door guest has his alarm go off at 0500 and well into 0800, nobody can or will do anything about it. Well, not unless Herbert is working in the morning. He was the only person who was willing to intervene after multiple other lobby staff refused to help. Try imagining the alarms making a loud incessant beeping the entire time behind your headboard at 0500 on a Sunday for 3+ hours while the other guest somehow sleep through it or not even be there over the weekend! My point is, if you are sensitive to noise stimuli, or dislike wearing ear plugs, I don't recommend staying here.

I stayed for the week after Labor Day and have stayed there several times over the decades. My…read morerating is high b/c of the front desk. They were honest about the renovations being much needed and taking time. They are also very open to suggestions for improvement as their goal is to make each stay enjoyable. The NEW ELEVATOR is so much better. The SUPPORT STAFF were friendly and quick to help. The fact that each room has a fFULL KITCHEN allows families to enjoy the ocean w/o having to eat out all the time. Bottom line, each person can decide if they prefer friendly client-forward service or corporate plastic smile service. I, for one, appreciate the management's focused efforts to take a different path from the previous management. Their vision cannot happen overnight. Their attitude was an overnight change from the previous management. I am looking forward to next year's stay!

Emailed ahead that id arrive early when I arrived they told me it'd be a few hours, when I came…read moreback they said "oh yeah we got it cleaned a while ago".....ook? room felt like I was at my grandparents so pretty cozy. Would've been awesome told that construction was going on, what goes great with panoramic ocean front views? the loud BBBBRRRRRRRRRRR of power tools and yelling. If you get a room up high, take the stairs, the elevator takes FOREVER and occasionally stops at random floors so get your steps in. Laundry room is $2 in quarters to wash and $1 to dry use the soda machine by the room to make change since there's no change maker and the only laundry room is on the 2nd Floor, so if your top floor, forget that elevator. If you're looking for a place to rest and shower? it's ok if you're on vacation it's mehhh and not really worth the price to be honest.
