Do NOT stay here. It is a complete waste of money! Beach front is the ONLY reason for any stars. The pics on the website amount to false advertising. The toilet in the SMALL bathroom basically has you sitting on the floor (if you're over 50 beware). The hallways are dark and DANK and the is a very strange smell in the lobby. It's our first time in Virginia Beach and this hotel has me thinking of other vacation options going forward. Do yourselves a favor and investigate other options maybe on the bay side. read more

My mom booked this place for us to stay on the ocean front Uber the weekend and it seemed to be all good until we return from dinner. The air conditioner was blasting when we arrived in our room and we turned it down a little so we wouldn't freeze later. Upon our return, we figured out why..... the room was super musty! I don't know whether it's because it's damp and bacteria started to grow. But there was a stench so bad, we had to get someone from housekeeping to help mask it. Did we get a new room? Nope. They were hands-off with anything regarding room assignments. I was very disappointed since thus was my first oceanfront VA beach stay, and visit since 1995. Ugh. Taking some time off before the fall rush, I visited VA Beach. This visit, I thought I would try the other end of the boardwalk so I chose the Four Points. Great location on the boardwalk. Close to restaurants, shops, and fishing pier. Remodeled lobby with decent size gym. There are two restaurants on property. The staff are great. The rioms are small but balcony is a good size. Bathrooms are old. The sink is outside of the bathroom. Closet is small. I tried to upgrade but there was not much available. I was able to use points to book reservation and park was free. Most places I visited was walkable. I would definitely visit hotel again but I would like a larger space. read more

Came to the oceanfront for an anniversary stay and dinner. Alicia was so responsive on the phone at the front desk and upgraded us to a suite, Jeff checked us in and made sure we had everything we needed. Visited the Jumpin' Shrimp restaurant for happy hour and then later for dinner. Both times our server Caylee was 100% amazing. The night manager Ivan took care of an issue we had. Our anniversary dinner was delightful! Then we went back for breakfast this morning and the day manager/server Deija was excellent and personable. We thoroughly enjoyed our hotel stay and the restaurants' service. Thank you staff. read more

I am kinda of torn about this hotel. First let's talking about the good things. Location was right on the beach, restaurant in the hotel and one a few Steps away on the peer. Bed really, really comfortable. Negatives- Thank God we had a room with 2 beds because they didn't change the sheets on one of them. Room clearly looks older but they tried to cover it with new stuff. Don't be fooled by the Marriott name. I probably won't stay there again. Especially for the price we paid! read more

Not impressed. Standard rooms are VERY small with a weird shelf thing in the middle. Not enough room for myself, husband, and 2 year old to comfortably move about. We lived out of suitcases for 7 days because there are 2 drawers to put ALL OUR THINGS. Rooms were dirty. My toddler's feet were black after walking around for 10 minute. Dirty foot prints in the shower. Lines were never fresh after room was cleaned every other day. Staff was extremely unpersonable and bland. Never a smile from anyone. Checked out today feeling very disappointed in our stay considering the price. We decided to stay at Va Beach one more night and booked a room down Atlantic at a MUCH cheaper rate and I honestly wish we had stayed here all week. read more

Guest are made to self park - which is okay, but you can't enter the hotel without carrying your bags down flights of stairs because elevator access is prohibited without a room key. But you can't enter walk up and down, so - how is this security and convenient? The oceanfront room (king size bed) seems comfortable but the room is like a terrible dorm room. read more

First, let me start by saying that this rating has no impact on the hotel staff. We had a wonderful experience with all staff members we encountered. The review is strictly based on the hotel state. I am a Marriott bonvoy member and have stayed at numerous Marriott owned hotels, so I have high expectations for their hotels. This hotel, is absolutely not up to Marriott standards. The hotel is in disrepair and in major need of updates. The lobby is very misleading, all furniture, flooring, fixtures, etc are updated in the lobby only. When we arrived, we were very upset by the lack of cleanliness and state of the room. The sheets appeared to Not have been washed, there was mold on the bed skirt, there were plastic chairs in the room as seating. The furniture was old and in disrepair. Luckily, the manger herself went and cleaned the room top to bottom and changed out all bedding. The room was bad enough we were considering leaving and driving back home. Additionally, the hallways appear to be like motel 6 quality and unsafe and reeked of weed. We smelled marijuana our entire stay, it was brought to the attention of the hotel staff but nothing was done. This hotel is absolutely not compliant with non-smoking. Finally, we had to ride the elevator frequently with maintenance staff and cleaning personnel who took their large trash cans up to each floor and appeared to be using towels from the hotel rooms. The positives are the beach/view, the staff members, and the convenient location to the boardwalk/restaurants. Overall, for $300-$400 a night I would avoid this location. read more

TURN THE OTHER WAY! As a Marriott property, I am extremely​ disappointed! For $300 per night, I was expecting a higher quality of a hotel, and unfortunately, that was not the case. Over all the hotel was nice and clean. The staff were all very pleasant and accommodating. The hallways to the room were a little dated and dark and very close, not much space to pass through. I love that we had a room facing the beach and the balcony was very clean which made for a pleasant time sitting outside. Great workout room and such a convenience to have a store and restaurant right there in the lobby area. I will stay again! :) read more

This has been and will probably remain my go to hotel when in VA Beach. I love the views the rooms are simple, clean, and quiet. My only grief is the parking garage and the constant smell of weed in the hallways. Beyond that I have not had any issues and greatly enjoy the restaurant attached to the hotel. There is not room service( not sure if that will change), but you can call in your order and run down and pick it up. Not a bad stay when on the Oceanfront. read more

The only way to properly take in VA Beach is by staying on the oceanfront! My wife and I stayed at the Four Points by Sheraton for 3 nights in July. We used rewards points for our stay so we couldn't beat the price :) The location was perfect...on the beach yet away from the action and crowds of North VA Beach. It's close to lots of great restaurants, water activities and of course, the beach. You can tell that the building itself is older but Sheraton has done a great job renovating several key areas...the lobby, gym and guest bathrooms. We stayed in a 5th floor guest room with an oceanfront view! We thought we were special but apparently, all rooms face the beach. The balcony was also a nice feature and allowed us to enjoy quiet evenings listening to the waves roll in. Free onsite parking was a great value. Take note...the indoor garage is very narrow (makes parking larger cars kinda tough) and it fills up VERY quickly at night. If you forget any beach items, there's a convenience store right off the lobby. The pool, located on the 5th floor, was poorly lit and uninviting. I didn't want to lay out on the beach everyday during my stay, so I wish that would have been a better option. Are there more luxurious beachfront options in VA Beach, yes. This was a overnight stay and a quick visit ,but I had a very good time at this hotel. Our room overlooked the beach with a nice patio . The room was clean and the beds comfortable. I have stayed at many 4 Points and this one here is very outdated . They definitely need to improve that because their namesake tells a different story when people book here. The rooms were not immaculate but they were a heck of a lot cleaner than the ones at the Sheraton. The staff was very kind and and concerned about my stay being good after I mentioned the poor experience I had at the Sheraton. I've always looked forward to staying at a Marriott hotel because I've always felt welcomed and treated with respect. That is until this time around. I brought my kids to the pool which is located on the 5th floor. When I requested for towels from the front desk, Katie informed me that it was MY duty to walk soaking wet through FIVE floors to get some towels. She hung up on me TWICE as I tried to get an explanation in what she was saying. This is just very poor customer service.I felt discriminated against. The second she heard my voice is when she started with the attitude in her voice. I am indeed reaching out to corporate office about this matter. I've never felt so disrespected in ANY hotel I've ever stayed at. To say I'm disappointed is a complete UNDERSTATEMENT. As some other reviews have stated, yes this hotel is older and not as glamorous but the customer service is really outstanding. We had an issue with the room as soon as we got there, and it was immediately resolved. The receptionists greeted us every single time we passed by, they answered the phone almost on the first ring any time we needed something and were very accommodating. The hotel staff takes the social distancing and masking precautions very seriously. The rooms face the ocean and have a lovely balcony. Desiring a beachfront option and noting a competitive price by at least $100 versus other like hotels, we opted for this one. Upon entering I was taken aback by the pleasant, though artificial, fragrance that engulfed my nostrils giving the sense that you were in a classy hotel. Our room was also very nice and had a nice balcony that we could chill out on, which was a key feature for our 3-day Virginia Beach vacation. However, the next day after venturing out, we returned later to an uncleaned room. So, we went to inquire and were told that cleaning services were cut back to once every three days. Upon asking why, the concierge told us in an unsure voice it was due in part to COVID and also to save on costs. My friends were not pleased and inquired to me, rightfully I might add, if they were trying to save on costs, then we ought to get a discounted price on our stay, thus passing some of those 'savings' to the customer. In fact, this became a on-going joke or point of mockery during our trip where my friend cleverly quipped, okay so my pharmacist friend is going to prescribe the right meds once out of every 3 times, to which I added I'll just send the weekly report to my boss once every 3 weeks. The concierge did say that they would provide cleaning upon request, which we then did. Next day if I recall, we were still waiting for the cleaning and went to talk to the person working the desk that time, who seemed rather disinterested not to mention unapologetic. He provided us with some fresh towels since we had used the ones in our room and cleaning service hadn't come yet. At this point, I was fairly certain I was going to give our stay 1 star. However, there were a few positives that improved the rating. The gentleman (a heavy set guy) working in the store across from the hotel restaurant complimented the picture on my credit card (me on top of some mountain) and made some small talk with me, which I appreciated and will say brightened my day. Then, the lady who was working the desk later on was also very pleasant and was amused and also understanding when we complained about the previous person at the desk who gave us the towels and were relieved to encounter someone like her who was nicer. I feel, however, what saved the day for the Sheraton, was when we spoke with the Manager about our experience (btw the cleaning service did eventually come). She was very calm and understanding and listened very well. She did a much better job of explaining why they cut back the cleaning saying it was indeed due to COVID. She correctly identified the root cause to be poor communication on the part of the hotel regarding the latest cleaning policy, and she offered all three of us free breakfast vouchers at the restaurant. I feel she was exceptional, because it is not easy dealing with complaints, yet her demeanor was perfect and in no way arrogant. Oh, and how could I forget about our breakfast being delicious and filling us up perfectly on our day of departure. Only thing I will say, is that while she indicated we had no cleaning for one night, it must be understood that going to that caliber of hotel to then come back to a dirty room was a major detractor (not trying to beat a dead horse, but trying to make the hotel understand our perspective and reaction). A change in cleaning policy needs to be communicated up front to guests prior to they stay or at check-in so that they are prepared. Overall, I feel this place is capable of a 5-star experience. It has a nice gym, a good and decent restaurant, a pool (though we didn't use it), rooms with balconies, overlooks the beach and ocean, and was priced competitively. If I came to VA Beach again, I would certainly consider staying here again, and feel my friends would as well. read more

Nice enough hotel, but for the price, should be a bit cleaner and better maintained. Bathroom floors were not super clean and the air conditioner was LOUD, and not just the blowing air sound. The thing went 'wuh wuh wuh wuh' at top volume our entire stay. Like 70 dB. Drove me bonkers and gave me a headache. We turned it off when in the room, so of course we were too warm. The fuse also blew when we used the microwave, so that took them about an hour to troubleshoot and fix during which we had no power at all. The pool does not have a hottub or the ocean view it looks like in the pics, it is on the back side of the hotel. Other than that though, convenient location, nice enough staff, and restaurant had meals available at the $15 price point (as well as the typical more expensive ones), which was nice given how overpriced hotel restaurants usually are. Not sure I'd choose it again at that price, but not a roach motel or anything. read more

I always take the value into account when reviewing. for the cost ($200/night in season) it is very clean, staff enthusiastic, friendly and responsive. All modern ocean front rooms with deep balconies. great HD TV service and internet ( ok it rained 2 days, and this was really needed). The attached restaurant and store make it very nice to never have to get the car. Great draft beer program. Attached parking garage will protect you off season. Abby and Alicia at the front desk will treat you like royalty. Now my go to place at VB. I totally enjoyed the stay , and being near the attractions for half the cost of the "resorts" 20 blocks north. read more

Shame on you Four Points/Virginia Beach! You lost a great paying customer by far. I didn't know that it was ok for the receptionist to hang the phone up on you while you are talking. She knows who she is. She got frustrated with me because she was in a busy situation that she couldn't handle respectfully as a receptionist. Before she decided to hang the phone up on me, she stated that she was the only one working and that there wasn't a manager on site. Then I speak, and the phones goes "click"...she hangs up. She didn't care that I had questions about the hotel room that I booked. When I got to the hotel, I saw her on a daily basis, and it was uncomfortable and awkward. I'm a paying customer way ahead of time, and I'm treated like a piece of crap. What outrages me the most is that the hotel manager didn't even apologize for this employee's actions. They didn't even offer to remedy the problem, like offer a discount on the room, or even a discounted or free breakfast. NOTHING...absolutely nothing. A rude receptionist has nothing to do with booking thru a 3rd party. It has EVERYTHING to do with quality in customer service. I got pissed on as a customer and it really hurts. There were 3 employees who were very professional and polite. An employee, who's name I will not disclose on this site, did share with me that the hotel manager is very fond of this crazed, rude receptionist. I was told that the complaint that I made against the employee wasn't taken very seriously. Excluding this receptionist's actions, I would of gave 4 stars because I had a great ocean view from a high floor, and my room was pretty clean. The bed, pillows, and sheets were comfortable. The sheets were smooth, not scratchy. There was a large, nice walk in spa-like shower and the TV was huge, a big plus. The furniture and décor could use an upgrade if I had anything negative to say. From my experience, if an employee is rude to you and they did the wrong thing, don't be silent or scared about it. Speak and be heard. You are the paying customer, and you shouldn't be pissed on and taken advantage of because they take your money anyway. This by far the worst customer service. Me and my boyfriend were on a road trip from Orlando to Delaware and decided to stop at a few beaches along the way. Virginia Beach was our last stop. I've never been to the area and wasn't sure of what to expect, but I am a former hotel employee and have very high standards and expectations whenever I visit a property. Four Points met and exceeded my expectations by far! Firstly, FREE PARKING. Secondly, it is right on the beach. Like you literally go out the back door and BAM, beach. Thirdly, the ocean view room. Even if you aren't that thrilled about the ocean (and if you aren't, I seriously hope you seek help because the ocean is awesome), the sunrise and sunsets from those rooms is absolutely breath taking. The staff at the front desk were very courteous, friendly and seemed genuinely interested in providing a great customer experience. We had drinks and breakfast at the Jumpin Shrimp and our bartender was hilarious and very attentive. We had such a great experience that we are planning another trip back JUST to stay at this property again! read more

**3.5*** Like everyone who works hard, every so often you have to take a break from all the high stress situations. Well some and friends decided that they wanted to go to Virgina Beach and thought it would be a good ideal to tag along. A lot of the hotels I normally stay at were booked up so I decided to give them a shot and luckily they had rooms available. Once I arrived and entered the hotel for check-in, O thought to myself that I'm pretty sure this hotel use to be called something else and did not look as nice as this one. So, after checking in I asked the person who checked me in if this use to be a different hotel, and the person replied yes but it was bought by Sheraton and renovated. I have to say this place looked nice. I then proceeded to my room which I could also tell had been redone as well. The room was a nice size an (I mean you only need the room to sleep most of time your should be out enjoying yourself if possible) and clean. Overall I liked my experience. All the workers I dealt with were nice and respectable (which we all know can happen on vacation especially at hotels). I also liked the fact that all the rooms are oceanfront rooms, so no matter what which room you end up with you will can always wake up to the sounds of the ocean, and if you're an early riser, than the beautiful sunrise. I absolutely recommend this as a place to stay if you are looking for hotel on the beach. Also it's really close to the pier so if you're a fisher you want have far to walk. Of course it's pricey (it's a oceanfront hotel duh) so I recommend trying to book through third parties if possible they tend to give you better rates/deals. read more

Let me first start out by saying I normally would not consider staying at a Four Points hotel. I think of the Four Points brand as roughing it. I prefer the Westin and, at minimum, will stay at a Sheraton or Aloft. The ONLY reason I chose to stay at this particular Four Points by Sheraton hotel, is because I called the Sheraton Gold member services to inquire about it. I was told it was BRAND NEW. My definition of 'brand new' is gutting the interior and replacing all of the furniture, etc.. Unfortunately, their definition of 'brand new' is remodeling the lobby and sticking Four Points by Sheraton signs on all of the floors. This hotel was originally Surfside Oceanfront Inn and Suites. I would have NEVER EVER considered staying there because it was a 2 star hotel and I prefer the larger chains that are not 2 star. That being said, I, with lots of other customers, was duped into staying at Surfside. The only thing that was renovated in this place is the lobby, which isn't complete. I witnessed Gio, a front desk member, telling other disgruntle patrons (they had just checked in and were leaving after seeing their room...) everything was new. That is not the case. I went as far as googling the address and found photos of the rooms from 2 years ago. The dilapidated furniture, carpet, and paint are all exactly the same. My original reservation was for 5 nights using Starwood points. This 'new' hotel opened the end of June. I began thinking I made the wrong decision as I walked into the lobby through the automatic door. The overhead portion of the door was missing. The woman at the front desk, Erin, that checked me in, was very pleasant. I asked if any suites were available (Starwood gold members get an automatic upgrade when checking in, supposedly). I was told there weren't any available and that they only have ten. I proceeded to go to our room. One of the 2 elevators weren't working, so the wait for the elevator was fairly long. Exiting the elevator on the 6th floor, my first observation was the lack of air. There is no ventilation on any of the floors, except for the new shiny lobby. When we walked in the room , I knew I had made the wrong decision. The furniture was very dated and worn. Either they had very destructive customers in the first four weeks of operation, or the furniture was existing (this was prior to my google search). We quickly went up to the pool on the fifth floor and that is equally dated. The ceiling seems to be a combination of sprayed on insulation and brown paint... That also lacks ventilation. My first room had a mold issue (I am highly allergic). I called Starwood customer service to find out my options, since I booked this moldy room on points. I then spoke with Danielle, the front office manager in the lobby. I was able to retrieve my 40K points for the full stay. Since no other rooms were available, other than my original moldy room, she upgraded us to a 2 queen suite for the night for 10K Starwood points. This room was also dated, but no mold. We ended up staying an additional night (unable to get a new reservation on such short notice until Sunday). We were moved to a different 1 king suite at a cost of $450 (including taxes). My credit card charge for this room was from 'Surfside Oceanfront Inn & Suites'... I should also mention that prior to our 3rd room move, they chose to deactivate our room keys where all of our belongings were, instead of calling me on my cellphone, which Danielle had. Maybe that was how they were letting me know my new room was ready... Marvin, another employee, was great. He happened to be involved in all of our room moves. I was also able to ask him for items missing from our room when the front desk was busy with other disgruntle patrons. I am pretty certain there are no Heavenly beds here either... When I made up the pullout couch, I found a fairly stained mattress. I officially checked out on Sunday to stay at a Marriott, changing my official checkout day to Tuesday, to cut down on all of my unexpected costs, which was one day early. So this 5 day, points only stay, ended up costing me $1300 for 4 days... I am not from the area, therefore going home was not a reasonable option, since it was a 6 hour drive with two small kids. I am very disappointed that Sheraton has this place listed as 'New' on their website. Maybe that is the definition of new, being it wasn't listed there before. I didn't hate everything about my stay. I liked the fact that there was indoor parking, although some of it was roped off due to construction. I also liked the body wash and shampoo dispensers they had in most of the bathrooms. I find the whole experience disgraceful. Would I stay here again? No, especially since a mold free room wouldn't be guaranteed... Would I suggest it? No. If you are looking for a Sheraton experience, this is not the place to stay. read more

Sorry but Sheraton dropped the ball on this hotel. Looks like they rebranded a older run down motel. Second floor reeks of 10 year old smoking. Bedspread are paper thin. Run down facility not up to Sheraton standards. read more

I was traveling to this hotel under military orders. They are contracted by the local base to provide a rate affordable to soldiers and sailors. Instead they practice price gouging, and I was forced to leave the hotel in the middle of my stay and drive an hour away because they attempted to extort $300 from me, which I would not be compensated for - all because it was the "busy weekend". This is an ILLEGAL activity. When confronted - the manager could only offer excuses about how he does not train his employees. He tried to offer me a room for only one night, after I was already an hour away at a different hotel - paying more out of my pocket than the military would reimburse me for. He would not even compensate me in hotel points when asked!! After reporting them to the base, I was told this facility does this same bait and switch very frequently. I cannot condone a facility that disrespects the military and the community that supports it. If you respect the military - avoid supporting this establishment that disrespects them. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to go to Virginia Beach during the off season to relax for a couple of days. We decided to stay at the Four Points because they had a deal where rooms were going for $85 a night (without taxes). When we checked in we were pleasantly surprised to find that we had been upgraded to a suite! Neither of us had been in a suite before and were excited to check the room out. When we walked in we found a clean room with more room than we knew what to do with. We thought the room was great, but when we walked over to the window to check out our view, that is when we truly felt like we made a good choice. The view was spectacular and the balcony was a nice bonus. If you stay here, be sure to get an ocean view room. read more
