It's hard to find something not to like about this hotel. Every room is an oceanfront room literally on the beach, free awesome breakfast, and the design is recently updated. I never thought I was the kind of person who cared about oceanfront rooms, as long as the room is close to the beach. But I think I've changed my mind. I really enjoyed eating meals watching the waves, and I was able to let my kids go to the beach while I sat in the room because I could see them from our room and they didn't have to cross any streets to get there. Also the breakfast was awesome! We immediately gravitated to the diy waffles with vanilla and red velvet options, and lots of toppings like chocolate chips and chocolate syrup. But I was impressed by the healthy options too like oranges, bananas, apples and canned fruit. There were great warm options too like scrambled eggs with salsa and shredded cheese, sausage and diced potatoes. The only things to mention are: -Parking is $20 a night. -There is an indoor pool but not an outdoor pool. -Good luck surviving the restaurant on the first floor, with its daily temptation to order from the reasonably priced happy hour menu (orange crushes for $5!). :) read more

My room wasn't ready at check in time. There were quite a few people waiting the lobby as their rooms also weren't ready. There was a very strange person working at the desk and only talking to the dogs and not the guests. I assume she was in training as she didn't check anyone in or speak to anyone even though there was a long line to check in. The other person at the desk was friendly enough it was just very odd. When I got up to my room I checked the bathroom and the toilet was filled with toilet paper and water to the top, I went back to the desk and maintenance came to fix it. Early the next morning the toilet again wouldn't flush. I went to to the desk and was told there is no maintenance overnight and I would have to wait to have a working toilet. I was told to use the public bathroom in the lobby. That's annoying. Otherwise things were fairly good. It was quiet. The room was clean enough. There is a parking lot which was nice that I didn't have to lug stuff in from a garage or across the street or anything. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast looked fine. There were no allergens labeled on any of the food. I have celiac so I assume nothing was safe to eat, but who knows since nothing was labeled. The room was overall pretty good and it's always nice to have an ocean view. I'd stay again just for the close parking, but I do think they should have a way to fix things at night or offer a better solution to a non working toilet. They didn't even apologize. And not speaking to people as they come in even though anyone could tell people were pretty annoyed their rooms weren't ready, just a weird choice. read more

Pros: -The best thing about this spot is the oceanfront view from the rooms, and the location / proximity to the beach (LITERALLY steps away!) -The rooms are sizable and reasonably clean ... kind of. Cons: -They pre-charge your card when they book which is, a slight annoyance. - My room reeked of cigarette smoke, even though it is a non-smoking room. I personally just hate cigarette smoke. -The interior is very dated (although you can tell there are elements in the room that were updated) -The elevator takes, literally, forever. I was on the seventh floor and still took the stairs ;) -The pool looks pretty gross, and the fitness center is minimal (probably not important to others) -Only one person at the desk, and the desk is almost always occupied (keep in mind I was here during high season) I enjoyed my stay, but it's definitely not a repeat. read more

We really enjoyed the hotel's central location on the boardwalk, as well as our room, our room type, and our view from the 8th floor, and overall our stay at the Hampton Inn Virginia Beach Oceanfront North truly was truly exceptional. While we went in the off-season (November), we noticed the hotel was well-maintained and clean. The front desk staff, especially Kol and Alexia, were super friendly, helpful, and efficient anytime we needed assistance, especially when we needed to arrive later than expected during check-in. The only issue we encountered during our stay (which we did not mention to staff) was that many electrical outlets in the room struggled to hold in a plug, so it became difficult to charge devices as only a few were in the room were functional. That said, this was only a minor inconvenience and we would definitely revisit this hotel when back in the area. read more

Stayed 2 nights. 9/19&9/20. Checked out this morning and car was gone. Mgmt towed the vehicle claiming the little piece of paper they give you was not visible on the dash. I clearly remember having the tag on my dash. No effort to verify me as a guest since they don't record your license plate when you check in. Another couple was at the front desk this morning with the same issue. So this hotel towed 2 guest vehicles without even trying to see if they were guests. Great way to treat registered guests paying $350 a night. This reeks of scam. Do not stay here unless you want to risk getting towed. Big fail for this Hampton Inn as we are Hhonors and usually book at Hampton Inns. Other than the towing the room was good, the restaurant pizza and bar was great. The staff were all courteous and helpful. Please change your parking policy to protect registered guests and we might just stay again when in Virginia Beach. . Not very sure how to recommend or not. Only thing making me hesitate is the view. This is why and the only reason i am putting "may be" I had enjoyed the ocean view but the rest of it sucks! There were some issues with the fan, bath tub sink, towels, doors,card not working. Mildew in the washroom and red stains on the pillow. Aw a long list! Staffs working night shift were awful. One woman name "koh" - she wears a face mask all the time. She was not helpful and neither accommodating. All the talks were kind of saying " do it yourself". The other one was a man that looks like Santa Claus with a white and yellow beard. He was rude and he said " what now? As if i was bothering him or may be racism". He left in the middle of the talk and disappear. I travel a lot and i spend time at many hotels. I do not really like people giving me attitudes specially when i am paying. read more

Nice Hotel on the Beach with plenty of amenities, close to restaurants, shops and entertainment. The Lady Clerk at the front desk was friendly and let us check in early because our room was ready. She gave us 2 free bottles of Water. The rooms are your average size, it was clean and has several outlets and USB outlets throughout the room which was a plus. They have a Bar and Brick Oven Pizza Restaurant on-site. The lobby and lounge area is inviting and there is free Coffee in the lounge. I highly recommended this Hotel. read more

My wife and I come here every year for our VA Beach vacation. The location is perfect if you want to be in the thick of things on the boardwalk. Walk right out the door and you're on the beach. We arrived early and tried to check in at around 12:00 but didn't have high expectations since it's summer. We felt bad for the young lady at the desk, though. She was alone fielding calls and checking everyone out. They really should get some help for her. Anyway, we chilled at the beach for a couple of hours and came back to check in. They had plenty of carts to bring your bags up to the room. We were in room 311 and it was clean and far enough from the elevators and ice machine, so it was quiet. The tub could use re-caulking. The elevators are like ovens, though. Not sure why there's no ac in them. Free breakfast was pretty basic: Eggs, sausage and potatoes. Plus breads, waffles and fruit, cereals and coffee. Before Covid, they used to have fresh green juices. Not sure why they stopped that because they were delicious. We stopped at the bar on our last day there and we're delighted to talk to the bartender, Diamond. She made a mean Pina Colada that was delicious and she was so sweet. Thanks, Diamond! All in all, we had a great stay and we'll be back next year for sure to rack up those Hilton points! read more

Spent Mother's Day weekend on the beach and it was wonderful. I was so grateful to reserve a hotel with rooms where we could overlook the ocean. The staff was so welcoming and the bar made some pretty good margaritas to start our fun weekend. I think they are still going through some renovations, but no issues at all. Room was clean, beds were comfy, I appreciated the walk-in shower. The balcony could have been attendees to a bit better. Parking was easy and didn't cost, if I recall correctly. We did not take part in the pool. It seemed small and it was indoors. This hotel had easy access to everything and the Neptune statue was right outside the back of the hotel. I decided to do a November beach vacation for a couple of days. All of the rooms face the oceanfront and the view of the beach and ocean are awesome. The room was spotless as was the rest of the hotel. The staff was very friendly, every employee I encountered from groundskeeper to front desk to housekeeping to the employees serving breakfast greeted you with a smile. The only issues I had were the bed was very hard and the pillows were too soft. Hampton is is serving limited breakfast with a combination of hot foods and cold items. Server dishes up the hot selection which changed each day, think corned beef hash, chicken sausage, eggs and pre-made omelets. Self serve items included shelled boiled eggs, yogurt milk and orange juice. Next time I visit Virginia Beach, I definitely know where to stay. read more

I came the day after the 4th of July. I was hoping to get a room on a higher floor but the hotel was completely sold out. The front desk tried really hard to find me a room with better view than the first floor but it just couldn't be done. Set my cup of coffee down, went to the restroom. Came back my cup of coffee was gone. I went out to my truck and got my briefcase. Then I came back inside got another cup of coffee and I figured I better get something to sit with my briefcase so I got three eggs put them in a bowl and set them on the table with my briefcase. I went outside. The manager came outside with my brief piece. They threw my other stuff away and someone stole my cup of quarters that was about $13. Anyways, to make a long story short that is the absolute worst experience I've ever had any Hilton flag property very unprofessional. I called. Let the GM know. Awesome location right on the boardwalk!!! Can just walk right out with your beach gear and plop down in the sand! It is very close to the statue of Poseidon, a great photo opp! In need of a quick getaway to breath something other than this city air, I decided to take a quick trip home to visit the beach. I chose the Hampton Inn Virginia Beach North because of its convenient location on the beach (and distance away from the craziness) and also because I had read that the hotel had recently had a full makeover. Most of the pics on here are deceiving since they don't show the rooms after renovations, which is why I'm here! I would recommend looking at their Facebook for more updates/pictures. I booked the King Study with the Chaise Lounge and it was spacious enough for 2-3 people. I wish I had taken pictures of the bathroom, but I liked that it had a walk in shower instead of the shower/tub combo. What I love most about this hotel is that ALL the rooms have a view of the ocean!! It was so nice to wake up every morning to the view of the calm ocean and be able to scope out a spot on the beach before the crowds! I should also mention that parking is free in their lot. Besides the room, the staff was great. Before arriving at the hotel I called to see if I could check in early. They let me know that my room was being worked on and that they would text me when it was ready. We checked in with Katie who was super friendly and provided top notch customer service. She even sent us a follow up text to make sure the room was to our standards. The hotel requires individuals to wear masks when walking through the building and the staff was constantly cleaning. They even adapted their daily breakfast to post COVID life by only offering pre-packaged items such as muffins, yogurt, cereal, etc.. I took away one star because the toilet could have been cleaned a little better-- but besides that I enjoyed my stay and would definitely return! read more

They were able to accommodate us last minute during our spontaneous Virginia Beach visit. We had ocean view room with queen bed and sofa bed. The room was clean and stocked with our needs. It served the purpose of sleeping arrangements while we adventured outdoors and enjoyed the beach. The hotel is located on the board walk and just steps to the beach. Our hotel experience at Hampton Inn was amazing. This is a beautiful Hilton hotel. Upon arrival we were greeted right away, check-in process went very smoothly even when we checked in close to midnight. Front desk agent was very kind and welcoming to us. He did a great job. The bed is very comfortable. The room and hotel feels very cozy. The view of the ocean was breath taking. We walked down to get breakfast, as we walked in, oh my gosh!!! It was absolutely amazingly clean!!! Ebony and her team are doing such an amazing job!! Thank you guys so much for making it so warm for us all, welcoming, clean and a variety of foods. This was the first time since after the pandemic that I slept in a place that was not my home nor my car. (I'm not saying that working from home was a strain on my marriage... but.... Yeah... ) I digress, I apparently found out that room service now has to be requested with 24 hour notice and it was written down but after being conditioned to accept terms and conditions without reading... I miss it. That being said, they will still delivered needed towels which I found myself doing twice a day. The hotel also had a restaurant downstairs but it was closed on Monday but there are so many restaurants nearby along with a cvs so that wasn't an much of an inconvenience. The air conditioning though was a pain. It was either too cold or too hot. Im guessing that the sensor was near the window instead of being in the middle of the room. It was extremely bad for the bed next to the unit cause it was blowing cold air right into the bed next to it. Also, the room is rather cramp and with two young energetic kids, it was a challenge. Other issues was that the toilet seat wasn't aligned, and the toilet paper holder was out of arm length. The staff was extremely friendly though and as I mentioned earlier, room service was pretty prompt when I needed extra towels or needed to borrow a blow dryer. Over all, it was a decent stay and aside from the air condition issue, it was a fine hotel. read more

Stayed her for a long Easter weekend. Booked online and they took half out a few hours before check in. Wasn't a big deal just be aware. Check in was fine. Our room was nicely decorated and clean. The balcony was a nice feature for sure. Also the hotel breakfast was very good. The entire stay our shower didn't drain. Or drained very slowly. Filling up with disgusting water with every shower. Came for two nights and booked an oceanfront room. We had to push back our stay two nights due to the weather and it wasn't a problem. Our room was on the 8th floor and it was spacious with a walk in shower and a little balcony overlooking the boardwalk with amazing ocean views. Bed was comfy and I could turn down the ac and make it nice and cold. The downstairs restaurant isn't part of the hotel but the staff there was friendly and the drinks were good. Loved the location of this hotel, restaurants were within a 5 min walk and also little beach shops to browse including a Starbucks. There were so many dogs at this hotel and the downstairs bar has 1/2 price bottles of wine on Wednesday's when you come in with your dog! There is an indoor pool in the lobby and it's a little small but looks nice. The only draw back during our stay was that there was only one working elevator so sometimes there was a wait. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. We are looking forward to returning here again soon. read more

Front desk staff was warm and welcoming, rooms were spacious and clean, ocean view was spectacular, centrally located made both a north beach and south beach stroll super convenient.... however, it's central location is also a drawback. Because of its close proximity to public beach access, it appears this draws a good number of homeless people and panhandlers right nearby, within feet of your entrances, and this is pretty disturbing. It borders on frightening, and I would hesitate to go anywhere alone for this reason. Not within the hotels control, I know, but certainly a drawback. Aside from that, I would recommend this place to others, and would stay again hoping the local government can better control this problem. read more

Driving from Florida to New York, this was the perfect stopover destination & hotel for us. Like nearly every other guest here, we loved the direct ocean & boardwalk view, the opportunity to enjoy sunrise, the proximity to the beach & other walkable areas around the north & central VB offerings (although, being that it was winter, 99% of the restaurants, stores, & indoor activity centers were closed for the season), & all the boardwalk-side sculptures (people-sized fish, the military memorial, King Neptune statue, etc.). Room was clean, had two queen sized beds with loads of pillows to choose from, my favorite Neutrogena bath products, good sized walk-in shower & lots of bathroom counter space. We totally appreciated the hot & cold breakfast (cold part of it, cereals, muffins, toast, fruit, yogurt, was self-serve, hot part was served by a masked staff member, all of whom were super-friendly, I should add). Guests as well as staff are required to wear masks while in public areas & there are wipes stations available (see my pics). We appreciated that COVID protocol was being adhered to here. What we appreciated the most though, was that the pool is now open because we loved to swim laps & we were thrilled to have this mid-winter opportunity. The pool is large, has tropical potted plants around it, & windows bring in lots of light. We were thankful that this Hampton Inn had everything we needed in a hotel. read more

Dog friendly hotel pool was really clean. The room was nice.. air conditioning worked well. The continental breakfast was nice except for the employee that was working the morning was not very pleasant when we came down. He kept removing things and putting it in the back room and I kept seeing employees coming in and getting food. The gentleman behind the counter when you check in in the gray shirt was rude. I don't know if he was Mexican or what, but he was very rude. Every single time we had a counter with him. The rest of the staff, including housekeeping was very pleasant, and the lady at the front counter, and the gray shirt was super pleasant as well. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was due to issues with the digital key. It worked for my room but hardly anywhere else even though it was supposed to. We're long-time Hampton Inn customers (it's our go to choice for hotels). This is a great location, right on the beach and in a convenient part of town near shops and decent restaurant options. All of the rooms face the beach and you can enjoy a great view from the balcony. They've done a decent job adapting to COVID changes. There are still breakfast options and plenty of seating even with "distancing" requirements. Unfortunately the pool and other facilities are closed. We've stayed here a number of times and they've recently completed some renovations. The room is clean and updated. In the future we may splurge on one of the fancier options in the area, but in the meantime I'm sure we will find ourselves back here again. read more

Poor service. Dirty breakfast area. Poor AC. I travel for work and stay at Hampton inns a lot. And sadly this Hampton misses the mark by a lot. I made my reservation online but then called to make sure they had it. They said they did. I arrived and everything was extremely unorganized. It took 2 staff members 10 minutes (not exaggerating) to check me in. Get up to the room and find the floors are sticky and smell funny. We are told it's because of the laminate flooring they put in that smells. Well my husband renovated homes and assured me the smell we were smelling wasn't the laminate floors. It smelled musty like mildew. Housekeeping brought us a bottle of air freshener to cover up this smell. While the AC in the room worked well, the AC in all common rooms in the hotel was turned off (this was in October but was a warm week). I mentioned to a staff member that it was super hot downstairs (literally you start sweating in the breakfast area). They informed me that a few days ago another guest complained it was too cold. How is this an appropriate response to a guest? Why can't you just say "thank you we'll see if we can turn up the AC." So, they never turned on the AC and it was sweltering. The cherry on top was that the breakfast area was disgusting. A door was left open from the general breakfast area to the kitchen area in the back. And you could see a large crate on the floor with apples in it, right next to a dirty mop bucket and surrounded by employees purses. Gross! How does the health department approve of this? Do yourself a favor and pick another hotel. This place falls far short of the typical Hampton standard. read more

Great hotel, and especially good for kids and families. The location is amazing, and the rooms were very spacious and clean. The hotel has 24 hours open pool! The continental breakfast was good, and the staff were really friendly. We stayed 3 days and 2 nights, and my parents stayed in a larger room with a king size and my daughter and I stayed in the room next door with 2 queen size beds. It worked perfectly for us, so we could use the side door and connect the two rooms. read more

Reviews on this are deceiving. This place is BAD. Nothing like the pictures. I walked in and it felt super crusty. I lifted up the sheets and there was a big brown stain on the corner of the bed. There was so much dust, debris, and hair in between the headboard and mattress. The couch was musty and just felt too dirty to even sit on. There were gnats flying everywhere in the bathroom and on the windows. I originally booked this place for two nights, but this place was so bad that I cancelled my second night which they gave me a refund for. That is the only reason why I would give this place two stars, along with the oceanfront view. I actually ended up not even staying here the first night and I booked a room at another hotel that was much cleaner. There was no way I could fall asleep here with the constant fear of waking up with potentially getting lice or bedbugs. I get that this place is a little more cheaper but come on... read more
