I shop there all the time and love the place. The staff has always been friendly and very helpful. The store is a bit of a mess, I'm not sure why. Its sister store, TJMaxx, just a few miles away is clean and organized. You really have to be familiar with this particular Marshalls store to weed through and find items. The staff made several customers wait outside in cold rainy weather for 5 mins passed when they opened cause they were doing "inventory", when really what it looked like they had friends and whoever have first grabs on the new stuff. Also, their selection was awful, and employees were rude. Save yourself a trip and go to TJmaxx! read more

Absolutely the WORST place in South Charleston/Charleston area to get waited on!!! Hire some help!!!!

This place is just a mess. Been here several times and can barely push a cart around the messy aisles.

My wife and I stopped here because we were directed here to find WVU gear. They did have a very small selection and I ended up buying a sweatshirt that I had not seen elsewhere. My wife also found a decent pair of shoes. We almost put our items down and walked out when we saw the line about 15 people deep but just as I was turning away I heard an announcement for all available cashiers to the front. They had 5 registers open in no time and cleared the 15 people out in about 5 minutes. They also have a speaker and LED display to tell you which register you should go to instead of the cashier wasting his/her time trying to get the attention of an oblivious person standing in line ignoring the requests to come to that register. read more

I have been shopping here for a couple of years. Overall, the experience has been reasonable. The staff is decent. However, my recent experience with them left me with an unpleasant taste in my mouth. I shopped a bunch of stuff at this branch, went to check out. The cashier's name was Brenda and she was a white old woman. To start off, there was no pleasanteries exchanged. You know, sometimes this happens, and you let it slide. Then, I took my stuff out of my card for check out. It included a bunch of small bags. Brenda checks out these bags and rather than handing it back to me or puting it in the cart, she dumps it in front of my cart. Then, she tell me, "I dont know how you had it. Whatever! Figure it out!". That was strike no. 1. Then, after I pay for stuff worth around $410, she loudly asks for my driver's license. For inormation sake, I ask her what is the Marshall's policy was on this. She replies LOUDLY, loud enough for 4 aisles to hear - "To make sure that your card is not stolen. Dont you think its a good policy for you?" REALLY!!!!! Strike 2! By now, I am pissed off. But i control myself and try to let it slide. I pay my bill and move out of the checkout line. Immediately after me, a white lady came to check out her stuff. And dear old Brenda immediately asks her "How are you? Hope you had a good experience and found everything you wanted". By now, I have had enough and ask for the manager on duty. The manager who came to me was Ms. India. I relate all this to the manager. The manager promised that she will look into this. But, after this, I am thoroughly disappointed with this shopping experience. Put yourselves in my shoes and consider how likely is it that I will shop in this store again. Let me answer this for myself - NEVER! read more

LOVE Marshall's! Most of the time, the selection is wonderful, whether it be clothing, shoes, purses, or home goods. Actually I always find more than I can really afford to buy, lol! Don't let the negative reviews stop you from going. read more
