Public Safety Complaint: Injury Caused by Negligence at Marshalls Marine Drive, Vancouver I am writing to report a serious safety incident that occurred at the Marshalls store on Marine Drive in Vancouver on Monday, August 4, 2025, at approximately 2:30 PM. While trying on a pair of jeans in the fitting room, I suffered a painful and entirely preventable injury due to the store's negligence. As I pulled up the jeans, I was suddenly scratched by a long, sharp, exposed needle protruding from a security tag that lacked a protective end cap. The result was a 15-centimeter-long bleeding cut on my left thigh (I have photos)--a painful and alarming injury that could have easily been avoided with proper safety protocols. Upon realizing the injury, I immediately returned the faulty security tag to Commie, the store associate at the fitting room desk, and showed her the bleeding wound. Commie responded with empathy and promptly escalated the issue to the store manager, Aonchal. Unfortunately, the store's handling of the situation from that point onward was highly unprofessional and deeply disappointing. Despite my request, store Manager Aonchal declined to view the injury and offered only a few adhesive bandages, which were insufficient to cover the full extent of the 15-centimeter bleeding wound on my left thigh, as documented in the attached photos. I was left to treat the injury myself at home, using my own medical supplies to adequately dress the laceration. Manager Aonchal further stated that there was "nothing they could do," and advised me to contact the company's 1-800 customer service line at a later time. No formal incident report was filed, and at no point was there any demonstration of genuine concern for my safety or well-being. As a result, I felt dismissed, unsupported, and treated in a manner lacking basic compassion and professionalism. In response to my continued concern and request for a professional resolution, another manager, Omer, arrived and offered a $25 gift card. I declined this offer, as I found it to be an inadequate and dismissive response to a serious physical injury. A bleeding wound of this nature--caused by a store's carelessness--is not worth $25. My intention in raising this issue was not for compensation alone, but to highlight a dangerous lapse in customer safety standards that could affect others, including children. This was not merely an unfortunate incident--it was a public safety hazard. The failure to properly secure a sharp object on a garment is a clear case of negligence, and it exposes all customers to potential harm. --- I formally urge Marshalls and its parent company, TJX Canada, to: Immediately review and correct in-store procedures for tagging and securing merchandise. Ensure all security tags are safely capped or removed before trying-on. Implement proper training for staff in responding to customer injuries, including incident documentation and basic first aid response. Acknowledge this incident and take public responsibility for the harm caused. --- I am now left with a painful wound, a visible scar on my left thigh, and a sense of mistrust in your store's ability to protect and care for its customers. I've come here many times and found the selection and prices to both be excellent. The last time I was in, not so much but I guess it happens from time to time. In fact the last time the clothes looked to be a mixture Of Little House on The Prairie mixed in with bridesmaids dresses and tacky office party wear ( see photos ! ) For once I walked out buying nothing, but this was the exception- not the rule. In the past I have found great vegan leather jackets, a Rebock teddy bear winter coat, Sketchers sandals, lots of Summer dresses, make up, hair care and more. For my husband -Converse high tops, lots of jeans ( Including Buffalo for under 40$ ) Long sleeve shirts, hoodies ect. Service is great as well. I've had large end of evening returns / exchanges that were complicated. Instead of a scowl the customer service was above excellent. (Special shout out to Jenna for all her patience and help) I hope they go back to getting more decent clothes here as I do enjoy this store. read more

Coming out of Canadian Tire I saw this store and wondered what it was. I walked in and it eerily reminded me of....Winners. But it wasn't quite Winners. And of course, as I only came in to check the place out, I ended up finding cheap electronics and ended up picking up some toys for Christmas. I did notice that this place had lots of clothes. I'm a fan of shops like Winners and so when they announced that Canada was getting a Marshalls I was so excited. First impression it was very clean and organized I dont know if it was beacue its only been open for a month or so. All the workers seems so friendly I never feel that at discount stores. Great selection of designer clothing, I did find that sizes were limited but that's expected in shops like this. read more

They are surprisingly well-stocked on a recent visit. From Adidas kicks to Jack Spade messenger bags to Patagonia t-shirts, they have it all. I dig their shoes still come in the original boxes (looking at you Winners). Prices aren't exactly cheap, but they always have a clearance rack. Funny they should carry this Uniqlo heattech rip-off undershirt. read more

First time coming here, the store was large and fairly organized with lots of parking. Decent lighting in the change rooms (thank you!) and pretty good pricing. It's similar to winners (since they're the same company) except they have higher quality brands at marshalls and less housewares and no furniture. They have better formal wear as well, ie prom style dresses or fancy wedding wear. read more

Good parking, prices not great, terrible customer service - especially the front desk coordinator named "Sam". He was rude to his staff (Eric) in front of customers and also humiliated and embarrased a customer in front of several people. There was a heated debate because they charged the wrong price for something that he later corrected, but not without a big scene! They charged $129 even though there was a red sale sticker on the item for $70. He refused to check the other items and said they were not allowed to make price adjustments even if the price is wrong and even though the items were only purchased 4 days ago. After what I witnessed, won't be shopping there again - or at least not until Sam is gone. read more

I love this place. They have red carpet days where they open early and have luxury brand items for sale, from Gucci to Valentino to YSL. I have picked up a lot of great things, my best ones were Gucci rain boots and a Gucci belt. Unfortunately, a number of ladies come now early and line up and grab Everything! I would suggest a maximum number of items sold per person (even 10) during this event to share the good finds to all! Staff are always friendly. They carry such a wide range of items and I prefer it over Winners. It is always clean. And they have a great return policy. read more

This store seems to have high-end brands compared to Winners. At Winners you sometimes find designer clothing, but at Marshalls it is a given including Maison Scotch from Amsterdam, J-Brand, Juicy Couture, Line, True Religion, etc. Also good to know is that their shoe selection is fabulous and includes Coach shoes as well as shoes from Italy. I found the handbag selection lacking. The shoe selection is organised beautifully compared to Winners. This location is walking distance form the Marine Drive Canada Line station. read more

This Marshall is located on the second floor of the complex on Ontario and Cambie street. It has only been around for about 2 years now so its still newly renovated. Basically they sell off season stock for 30-50% off original price. They do sell the higher end brands such as Dior, Fendi, Gucci for shoes and they are starting to sell Kate Spade handbags here as well. They also sell brands like Diesel, True Religion, Hudson, SuperDry etc for jeans/clothing. They also have a home section with small furniture items and kitchenware, bathroom/toiletries, make-up, toys etc. One thing i find it to be missing is the accessories/jewelry section. Bathroom is modern-looking and clean. Service is normal with occasional line-ups at the cashiers on busy days. Make sure you check out their Clearance section for even better deals. Return policy is within 10 days with receipt. Parking available on upper floor. read more

I really recommend that you check out this location of Marshalls not only for their long open hours and amazing selection but also because they are not as crowded as Winners. I just bought a beautiful comforter set for $49.99 and a Nautica sheet set for $29.99, can't go wrong with that! They have a huge selection of designer brand clothes and shoes. The staff were very friendly and the store was really clean. I found a couple of affordable things that I really love. The customers however, were awful. Kids were running around everywhere and using the store like a playground (no parents to be seen). I never see that kind of thing in Winners- next time I'll go on a Monday or Tuesday evening when it's less likely to be so busy. read more

Was so excited to finally have a Marshals in Vancouver but after checking it out I'm disappointed. Its nowhere near as good as the selections in the States. I also noticed prices were higher than those stateside but I guess that's to be expected when you factor in the exchange and duties the retailer has to pay to bring in clothing. read more

I love this store, there are so many brands with pretty vast price ranges. You could easily spend $200 on two things or $200 for 15 things. Found a really cute (and good quality) pair of runners for my daughter for only $40 and my favourite hand cream for $8.99 (it's huge too). I was in this store for over an hour and didn't get to look at everything, I'll be back, there is a Fossil purse after my heart and I might just have to buy it. read more

I had the most horrible customer experience at your store on Marine Drive in Vancouver BC. I walked into the store on Friday April 18th 2014 at around 5pm and checked out what i had bought at around 8pm. I was accompanied with my aunt and her friend. We had found a cute bath and soap kit that clearly stated on the price tag that it was $9.99 (Nine dollars and ninety-nine cents), that is why we decided to buy it in the first place, when it came time to pay the clerk lady had noticed that there was no tag, which we then proceeded to look for and even went back to the area we found it to try and find a knew one. We told the lady that the price was in fact $9.99. She had to of course verify with a manager or other worker which we completely understand and respect. Although when she verified with another worker which was horribly rude and stated that the price was $19.99, we then told her that she was wrong and all three of us had seen the price, she kept arguing very rudely saying that the price was still $19.99, as if we were lying. The clerk then called over the manager and the manager verified the price and told the clerk "The price is $19.99, they're lying". Never in my life have i been so horribly treated by a worker at any store, we were nothing but polite and logical until the horrible Manager called us liars, her customers which were buying over $300 in items. My aunt then confronted her and told her to apologize, the Manager then refused and said that she did not call us liars when we in fact heard it, everyone at the cash register heard it and she dared deny that fact. To top it all off a pair of headphones I bought were broken! Which means i'm forced to return to that store to get my money back. What a horrible place to be with terrible customer service. This was the first time I went and surely the last after i return the headphones. If i could rate this lower than 1 star i would, bottom line would never recommend this location to anyone. read more
