We are…read morean island nation and it should not be so hard to find somewhere that sells fresh affordable fish. But it is. Luckily I found this place when I worked nearby and would often pop in to grab fillets for dinner. Now I make a special trip because like I said, this kind of place is RARE AS, as my son would say. The owners are absolutely lovely and you get that warm community feel of a proper local fishmonger who greets you with a smile on arrival and wishes you a good day when you leave. They also often tuck in a lemon for me and it's those little things that make all the difference. The fish is fresh as can be and not priced at the rip-off rates of some other places I could mention. It's really important to support these small but perfectly formed businesses so give it a go next time you are going to treat yourself (because let's face it, fish is never going to be the cheap staple it should be) to a fish dinner, come here.

We did manage to pick a great one. Loved the aspect of picking out your fish at a Fishmonger and taking it over to a cooking stall that works with the Fishmonger. Saw lots of tables with huge grilled fish...we were jealous! We picked Sanford's and were not disappointed. We shared a grilled lobster tail and some grilled prawns. The lobster was served with a small tasty salad and perfectly cooked chips. Wish we had more time to spend in Auckland because this would be on our list to get back to. Highly recommend.

Luckily, it was an off peak time so we were able to grab a seat, but I can see it being chaotic during the main lunch rush. There aren't too many stalls, a couple where you can get fish prepared fresh, one that seemed a bit more grab-and-go. And then one to get raw fish to go and cook at home. The shop itself though has just got better and better over the last few years and now is a really great general supermarket that has bargain prices and exotic products. There's more noodles than anyone could ever want to eat and rice, dried beans and condiments galore. The flavour pastes and fresh produce are my favourites here and there's also a smattering of foodstalls on one side that make Asian snacks; my favourite being the pancakes. I'm also partial to a bit of Plum Wine and this place has it, along with Asian beers etc. And I still just can't help but marvel over all the crazy dried funghi, fish innards and the like that are so foreign to me - I got to say it, these days Auckland has pretty much every curious food ingredient available which can only be a good thing.

I picked out four packs of salmon , with a price slightly over 40 bucks. And the portion was able to feed 8 ppls. Five star for their customer service especially over the fish and chip counter :) the lady was very sweet , when she heard that it was my first time have fish and chip, she gave me one extra price of today's special friend fish :D no wonder ppl always said New Zealand ppl are very friendly ! It truly is ;) the gentleman over the fish and chip Togo counter even teach me how to eat the fish to bring out its best taste (a little bit lemon juice, salt and pepper , Dahl Dahd here you go ! What I really like about this Pak in Save in particular is the parking, it has great parking at…read moreground level but also has an awesome covered carpark. The covered carpark just makes it that much easier when you need to shop during the winter months when we all know how windy and rainy and just horrible Auckland weather can be. But this Pak n Save is great as it has a lovely covered carpark. The supermarket itself is actually also pretty new and therefore has a really good layout, wide aisles and lots of check out lanes so makes for stress free supermarket shopping apart from the packing at the end, but the prices are worth it.

This used to be my favourite supermarket but lately it has gone a bit downhill. Their meat - I…read moredon't know how they store it but with these new recycling packs the meat smells horrible after a day in the fridge if kept in those recycling packs and we have a very good fridge. Their Fresh Fruit and Vegetables is not really that nice they don't have the best looking produce and quite often ill buy their onions and the middle of them are rotten and green possibly because they use the sacks of onions and just tip them into their bin. They have changed the layout again and to be honest its so difficult to find things at the moment but the extra space is nice, their variety section seems to have disappeared which is a shame as there was good stuff in there. Their product range is limited these days and I find myself doing my main shop here but my meat and veges and other products shopping at Countdown or New World. They have baskets now which is great but I'm forever having to go to the checkout aisle to get a basket as they don't bring them back as often. And the self Checkouts are great but quite often the machines need assistance from the staff - who more often then not are busy gossiping about their lives and not paying to much attention to what is going on and missing the trolleys full of more than 20 items at the self checkouts. I will continue to shop here but I hope it gets better again like it used to.
