After swim classes the facilities are always being kept up with. The women's locker rooms can be a little slippery but it doesn't help when people ring out their bathing suit on occasion in the locker area. Swim caps are mandatory in the pool even if you have a young child that isn't going to dunk under water. Bring a fabric one or the front desk sells the plastic ones ( and goggles) . Classes: As many as you would expect from any gym. In the mid afternoon usually there's less classes but there's a room upstairs that is used as a multi purpose room for stretching etc ( the same one for classes) opens up. Spinning on the first floor . In the summer some classes fill up so you need to sign up. Free weights , cardio , machines( upstairs) : a great selection of all the above. A few cable weights, smith machine, stair climber and all the cardio machines you could ever want. The area is also well maintained by vacuuming . A wall of cubbies for storing items instead of the lockers downstairs. ( Yes, there's an elevator). Plenty of personal trainers. Childcare: during the winter there's child watch on certain days for kids under the kindergarten age . There's a after school program and they offer school vacation and early closing from school care. Summer camp fills up incredibly fast as do all the camps. Swim lessons for sign up. Aquila - cafe on the 1st floor with snacks ( high protein options), smoothies , coffee etc . They sell cakes ( make to order) , pies around the holidays. Parking: in the front and right . Additionally there a lot near the ice area as overflow for the Y.

Working in restaurants growing up, I know how it feels to be approached by customers so I make sure to be calm and clear when I address a concern. They dismiss concerns about them delivering the mail to the wrong mailbox. They suggested we got a PO Box and I thought it would help since they were having staff issues during the pandemic. It was a very convenient excuse because now my regular mailbox is filled with 4-6 of my neighbors mail. And mine can not be found. As a struggling contractor on the island, I survive based on checks being sent to me. They have lost several checks and then dismissed my concerns about correcting the issue. I do not support the US Post Office in Vineyard Haven and I recommend finding other solutions for mail. Regardless of the load on this office, they have not been able to handle it. I have always said, "No one cleans your house the way you do, so just let go of that expectation and you'll be fine." In this case I have to say - they do! They clean all the obvious stuff but they also notice things like the top of the stove hood that gets all greasy, the inside of the fridge where spills happen and it looks gross. In this house we have lots of those long cob webs that you don't notice unless you look up. They actually look up! The other day I was in the bedroom and showed my husband, "OMG! They cleaned the fan blades! No one does that." Also important to me is that the people are very friendly, use good cleaning products (not harsh chemicals) and don't have a problem with my big dogs in the house while they work. Last, Efficient Housekeeping is involved in island charities (I met the owner at one of these), which is very nice. Locally owned, woman owned and supportive of our community. Totally worth it to have them come in and clean 2-4x a month. Oh, and you can pay them with (credit card!) via PayPal.

However I was surprised when the movers showed up in a lawn service open trailer which had been cleaned out. In addition, the posts of the 4-poster were not protected during the trip and I didn't notice the three dings, two on the posts and one on the side rail, until I set the bed up (after they left). The whole bed was in pristine condition before being moved. I had emphasized that to the moving company beforehand; to handle it carefully. i have since filled in the scratches but I wish that they had taken more care withe the bed.
