Most of the time I didn't notice them doing their thing, which is good because I think the more candid shots are better and it's less stressful. I wish I could give Martin & Theresa 10 stars. They are the absolute best photography team ever! Even the first time speaking with Martin, I felt so comfortable. We ended up postponing our August 2020 wedding and opted to elope to Joshua Tree in November. Martin and Theresa met us at our AirBnb and jumped right into shooting. They do not spare any details! They took my wedding dress and accessories into different rooms and outside to get photos. Theresa was a great director, telling me what to do and how to pose. They photographed me getting ready, our first look, ceremony, wedding portraits, first dance, and mini reception. While we were in Joshua Tree, the weather was really cold. I could've easily said, "I'm going home." That was how cold it was. But Martin handed me a hand warmer and Theresa was right there, pushing me through. It was so easy to joke around with them which made the entire day feel so natural. I hate being the center of attention but with them, I didn't mind getting photographed all day, kissing my husband a million times. I cannot recommend these two enough! My wife and I had our engagement photos done with Martin Ngo Photography. For so many reasons, we loved our experience with Martin! The shoot itself: We gave Martin the ideas we had in mind (shooting at UCLA where we met, pHarry Potter books and wands, using books like "Wedding Planning for Dummies"), and then we went with some of Martin's ideas (locations nearby, props, poses). He gave us a lot of tips on color scheme, what would work and what wouldn't. For the actual shoot, I don't take a lot of pictures, so I found posing and such awkward, but Martin made it as comfortable as possible! He took a few photos of each pose to be thorough which I appreciate. The product: We really loved the way the photos looked once we got them! Even though we got a ton of photos, it was clear why Martin took a few photos of each pose to find just the right one of each! We liked how our ideas and personality came through, and also loved how the ideas that Martin came up with turned out! There were fun signs and props for some of the photos that he provided. I'm not sure what prices are across the board for photo shoots but we felt it was worth every penny! Martin and Teresa are the Best! They were able to capture such beautiful moments of our maternity shoot. I'm kind of awkward when it comes to taking pictures but Teresa made the experience so fun. I did not look awkward at all in my pictures. THEY TURNED OUT SO BEAUTFUL. Martin and his wife Theresa are simply A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. My husband (Kalvin) found him via IG and reached out to him to inquire about pricing one day. He responded within 24 hours and asked us to grab a cup of coffee to get to know us better and see if we'd be a good fit. We chatted for a few hours during our first meeting and that was BEFORE we even decided to hire him. Right off the bat, we both knew he was THE ONE. He was personable, funny and has great attention to detail. We had our engagement shoot at Yosemite and it was like hanging out with a friend all day. It was a LONG day - we started at 2pm and didn't finish until 9pm but Martin knew all the photo spots and bathrooms to change outfits into and was SO efficient. I wrote a previous review for Theresa who did our engagement session and am writing another review for Martin & Theresa for the work they did for our wedding ceremony and reception. My wife and I couldn't have asked for a better photographer as the images from our wedding are amazing. I don't really consider myself to be all that photogenic but Martin and his team were able to make my wife and I look amazing in every single shot. A week has passed since our wedding and we still can't stop looking at every image that Martin and his team captured. Martin and Theresa also captured all the critical moments for our wedding. For instance, during our wedding reception I surprised my now wife with a secret slideshow/speech which I hadn't really communicated with Martin's team due to oversight but was very happy to see that Martin's team captured that moment perfectly on film. Besides the great camera work and ability to capture critical moments on film, Martin and Theresa were super fun and easy to work with. Taking wedding pictures can be a chore but Martin and Theresa made every single shot that was taken fun. Martin and Theresa are super easy-going and they know exactly what to say at each moment to make the situation conducive to taking pictures. One last thing - usually photographers can be slow but Martin got us a sneak peak two days after our wedding. Both set of photos came out great, and I would highly recommend him if you are looking for a wedding photographer. A couple of reasons why I recommend Martin: 1. He gave us direction: A different photographer took our proposal photos, which unfortunately did not come out great. Our proposal photographer told us to "look natural", which is not helpful at all and if anything, made us more nervous. In contrast, Martin gave my wife and I direction (e.g. where to put our hands, how to stand, where to look, etc). This helped my wife and I know what to do without looking "posed" or awkward. 2. He advised us on wedding details beforehand: I had never planned or been involved in the planning of a wedding so I had no idea on a lot of seemingly insignificant details that make a big difference. For example, I was planning on having our wedding start time at 4:30 so we could capture the sunset during the wedding. Martin advised to make the wedding earlier so we could catch a little bit of the sunset during the wedding, but also to make sure that we could catch the sunset for our photos after the ceremony. The sneak peak photos all came out great because of that crucial advise. 3. He is a great communicator: Martin was very responsive to our questions and requests. This was particularly helpful in planning our wedding and helping to nail down a bunch of details in real time. My wife and I could not be happier with the photos we received so far, and cannot wait to see the rest of our wedding photos. Do yourself a favor and hire Martin. read more

I've never felt the need to leave a review before, but it would be a crime not to tell the world how great Martin is at his job. We had the pleasure of using Martin as our wedding photographer two weeks ago and we couldn't be happier. Bottom line, the photography team of Martin and Theresa is FANTASTIC! As someone (a guy) that doesn't like his picture taken, Martin and Theresa both made my fiancee and I feel comfortable and relaxed during our sessions. We were admittedly awkward (and probably awkward throughout other parts of the shoot), but they made us feel comfortable and relaxed, and the pictures all turned out amazing! They were both extremely patient in their instructions and made the shoots fun and enjoyable. There were times when I thought to myself "I don't think I looked that great just now" but Martin and Theresa worked their magic and we now magically have wonderful shots we plan on using for our wedding reception (and to show off to our family and friends on Facebook of course). Martin and Theresa worked with us to find the best locations, helped us coordinate our outfits, and they picked the best angles and shots possible at the locations using whatever the current circumstances were (e.g., location of the sun, time of day, how much time before location closed to the public, presence of other people if you're in a popular location, etc.). They paid attention to details big and small (e.g., adjusting the train of a dress, the placement of flowers, the dirt on your shoes, etc.) which really added to the overall feel of professionalism, effort and care they were putting in. To start off this review is not negative because of Martins hired help or editing skills. The negative review has to do with his horrible customer service. I'll keep it short by saying that he is almost impossible to get a hold of and takes his sweet time getting back to someone. Me and my wife were right in the middle of moving when correspondence started in regards to picking our photos from the online album he posted. There were several confusions to start and Martin took his sweet time to rectify them. Finally, about 4 months after our wedding and a full edit and correction to the quality of the album later Martin decided to send the prints and thumb drive package...TO THE WRONG ADDRESS. We had specifically asked him to send to our new mailing address and now our pictures have been sitting in 100 degree weather for 2 days. Lucky for him the previous home has not been sold and we still have access to the mail box. Hopefully the prints were not damaged or we will be having another more serious issue... In no way is this bashing the photographers that actually shot our wedding. The pictures turned out great and the workers martin hired were amazing. Unfortunately you can't have good product/service without even better customer service in this business. I've worked in the private event world for over 10 years and can tell you it is all about repeat business and referrals which I will be giving none of to Martin NGO Photography. read more
