Our requirements were that the plantings be deer and drought resistant since we aren't here in the summer and that we have a minimal amount of grass that wouldn't need watering. We liked Paul right away because he listened to what we had to say. At the same time he didn't do anything we asked for. Later on, I suggested a design element and he politely told me it wasn't a good design and he'd come up with an alternative. I liked that. One of our requirements was that he put in smaller plants or plants that spread to keep to our budget. and he did this. Our property is on a hill and we have a lot of serious drainage problems. Paul's design dealt with the problems and directed the run-off to the woods. His installer was also extremely knowledgable and had worked with Paul for many years. During the installation, he was friendly and went to great effort to find blue stone for the small patio that matched the stone in the 40 year-old path to the front door. The stonework for the small patio and a couple of retaining walls is fabulous. We watched and it was done with great care. We've hired Leisure Landscapes to do our ongoing yard maintenance. We couldn't be happier with the results. He accommodated the playground that my husband had built, and created a design that is welcoming and fits with the house. I'd recommend the company highly.

Not knowing anything about sod or the process, I trusted his judgement. July 12th, he brought 2 pallets of half-dead sod, which he assured me "just needed watering". He tried to charge me $400 for the 3rd pallet (that I already paid for), but after confronting him, he backed off and brought the 3rd pallet a few days later. They lazily laid the sod, applied fertilizer & fungicide, & went on their way. Even with watering 3x a day, the sod died in a month.... He contacts me in September, offering to aerate and overseed my lawn. I found that to be odd, considering my yard SHOULDNT need those services if his sod service was successful. Its as if he knew the half-dead sod he brought wouldn't stand a chance of survival and wanted to way to reach in my pockets again. I told him I wouldnt be using his services anymore, citing my dissatisfaction with his service. This prompted him to pay me an unannounced visit on Sept 12. He walked through the yard, checking his "work" to see my claims were valid. He texts me later that evening, offering to replace the sod in October as a "Christmas gift from Danny's Lawn Care"... Its safe to say, that day never came, and I never heard from him again. Expecting him to turn tail and run, I just decided to purchase some more sod from a reputable company and lay it myself, which I must say, looks amazing! Im proud to know that I did a better job than the "pro"... And in doing the work, it was made hilariously clear of all the short cuts Danny & his "team" took to do this job. In short; From start to finish, Danny just saw me as a quick pay day and tried multiple times to reach in my pockets. He charged me top dollar to then bring discounted, half-dead sod that he and his "team" would lazily lay, hoping to spin the block in a couple month for another quick pay day...

It is astonishing to me that anyone could have given him a 5 star review. He charged me for 7 pallets of sod, I got 4. Nothing was done in a timely fashion and the materials he used were sub par unless I ordered them and paid for it out of pocket even though the estimate for the work stated the amount of soil to be delivered and from which company. The bark mulch he tried to install was NOT the 12 yards of hardwood mulch---it was nasty, gray in color so it looked old and had bugs in it. I refused to allow it in my yard. I said I wanted him to use the triple hardwood mulch that I had always used from Sands and Soils and then he sends me this nasty, cheap looking dreck.e told me they were very backed up and couldn't deliver it. I called Sand and Soils myself the next morning and asked if they had a back log as Danny had told me. She said well, she could get it to me by lunchtime. I called at 9:30, it was delivered from Sand and Soils, exactly what I order two hours later. So, I felt he was lying to me with this yarn about how he couldn't order from them as they were so "backed up". Everything it's this guy is smoke and mirrors, untruth and excuses. Working with him was extremely frustrating. I had my kitchen and bathrooms COMPLETELY REMODELED in less time and with less aggravation that Danny provided just to re-sod and mulch my back yard. I served him notice this week that we cannot work together because I don't lie, cheat or steal and I don't tolerate those who do.

The yard looks amazing, and Corby was a pleasure to work with throughout the entire process. He really listened to what we wanted and kept us involved every step of the way. We explained that we want to get away from grass and that we don't use the irrigation system that came with the house. Even though we were out of town while the work was being done, Corby kept us updated with photos and texts throughout the project. He even checked with us on the placement of a few of the larger plants before installing them. One thing we especially appreciated was his thoughtfulness. We had a large amount of pine needles that needed to be removed, and instead of hauling them away, he offered them to a neighbor who could use them. My sister was at our place and told me that Corby was very conscientious about locating and avoiding the irrigation lines during the installation. He was also extremely knowledgeable about plant care, including deer deterrence, watering requirements, and ongoing maintenance. What also stood out was his vision. He suggested incorporating boulders into the design, and at first we weren't entirely convinced. The more we talked about it, though, the more we could see what he had in mind. The finished result adds character and interest to the yard and feels much more unique than a cookie-cutter landscape design. Corby does outstanding work and is truly a joy to work with. I highly recommend him and his team!

I obtained several quotes from companies related to landscaping work that was necessary to precede…read moresome waterproofing that we needed to have done on our new home. This work was the removal of 3 stumps (2 small and 1 large) and some regrading to ensure proper drainage. I received my quote on 5/25/16. I elected to go with Carolina Outdoor since they were frequently used by my waterproofing company for this type of related/required work. On 5/26/16, I responded by email to Chris Lambert and asked to kindly call me at his convenience, as I had some questions about the quote. When I did not hear back from him after almost a week, I finally called him myself on 5/31/16. He told me that calling or texting was my best option to reach him, as he did not check his email. I should have heeded this red flag. First, who can run a business and not use their email, particularly when it's directly linked for questions, quotes, etc. on their website? Further, this essentially means that there is no written correspondence about anything, so no paper trail that can be followed. Convenient, eh? At any rate, we reviewed the quote and work and I emphasized our need for the removal of the stumps and the regrading due to drainage concerns. From 6/10/16 to 6/13/16, I tried reach Chris to schedule the work. He was not responsive and when he finally did speak with me, he thought I was a completely different client. He did not schedule me at that time, saying he was short staffed and very busy, but he would get back to me. On 6/17/16, the waterproofer emailed to get me on their schedule for July. I told them that was fine, but the landscaping work had not been done and any assistance they could provide in getting Chris to respond/schedule us would be helpful. Within a few days, I noticed that our utility lines had been marked. I was hopeful for progress, but still waiting to hear back from Chris, as he had never called back to actually *schedule* the work. A few days after that, I arrived home to a yard that appeared to have been mortared. Not only were the 3 stumps removed, every bit of foundational landscaping was also removed, and massive holes were left. Naturally, I began trying to contact Chris to understand why this had been done. Over the course of several days (6/21-6/23) we communicated and he stated that there must have been a miscommunication with the grinder. While he apologized, he then went on to say that these plants weren't considered foundational shrubs anyway. WOW. Ok...well, i don't know very much about plants, but I do know they cost money, they can be transplanted, AND they do contribute to the curb appeal of our new home. I am not sure how anyone could spin their error in this fashion. It's completely beyond me. He assured us that the removal of grindings/regrading would shortly follow. He also didn't seem to think it was a big deal that he never formally scheduled the work. Then, when I inquired about invoicing for the work, he said that he wouldn't feel comfortable doing that until he had a chance to come out after the project had been finished, walk the yard with me, and ensure I was satisfied. He offered to take $200 off my quote for the landscaping they ruined. I don't know if $200 would have replaced all the plants, but I do know it was not sufficient to make up for the time and energy needed to replant EVERYTHING and for the complete mishandling of the entire job. Within the next few days his crew returned to "finish" the job. They simply filled the holes with the grindings (not removed as quoted) and threw down some straw. They did NO regrading, they did not put in topsoil, and we couldn't do any with planting. At this point my husband began communicating with Chris, as I was at the end of my rope with complete lack of professionalism and oversights/errors/communication issues. My husband requested Chris himself come out and inspect the work, which he eventually did and told my husband it "wasn't that bad." ARGH! At this point (June 30) he stated it would be best to let the waterproofers go ahead and do their work, as sometimes they have to remove soil, and then he could finish the regrading. On July 5 we were invoiced for the job, which was still NOT complete and totally botched (due date of July 15). The waterproofers completed their work on July 18. My husband then immediately began trying to reach Chris to finish the job. We didn't want our credit affected by non-payment, so we went ahead and paid him. He cashed our check, has ignored all texts/calls, and the work was never completed. Ruined landscaping, unfinished work...Do not use this company for any reason.
