From beginning to end, both my husband and I were impressed. With a pine tree next to our driveway (kissing on a nearby oak) that seemed to have a compromised base, I was anxious to have this tree removed prior to the TRUE onset of hurricane season. We also have quite a few other trees on our property that had become overgrown and were touching or impeding either our house or our neighbors' houses. I called Jose to request a quote, and within days he was here to give us a written estimate. His company is fully bonded and insured. We thought his estimate seemed very fair, but we had also scheduled to receive an estimate from our "usual" tree service, who came out the same day (after waiting nearly a week for a reply). Shade Tree's estimate was better - AND, he was able to come out the following week to complete the job (rather than waiting two weeks as our other estimate indicated we would need to wait in order for him to complete the job). Sure enough, Jose and his skilled crew were here EARLY on the day we scheduled. Perfect! They did a superior job of removing the compromised pine tree without harming the oak that was almost adjoining it. All other trees were trimmed beautifully, with the intent to assist nearby trees in their growth as well as make our home safe. Clean up was superb and communication throughout the entire morning's worth of work was outstanding. This is a local business, and I always want to support local entrepreneurs. Jose and his team certainly deserve a true 5-star rating, as they were a fantastic crew to work with.

We thought he was a little overpriced, but we were willing to pay because they did a great job. Hurricane Beryl took down 2 trees in my backyard. I called this company immediately, thinking they could come cut up these 2 trees, one oak and one sweetgum, quick, and just put them on the curb for county pick-up. He sent his climber to take a look, and then the owner called us a few minutes after he left. None of them speak English, but the owner depends on his teenage boy to speak for him. Y'all, he wanted $2700 to cut up these two trees! That's more than he charged me for the last 3 trees they climbed to cut down, including grinding the stumps! It's ourageous to me how people want to price gouge when you are already down. When I told him there was no one stupid enough to pay that, he said, "Well, everyone went up on their prices right now, and we have to be higher than them." My insurance is only paying me $500 for each tree for the clean-up. So, this just told me that Ear Tree Service has no value and no morals, and they only want to take advantage of people when they are down. I told him to go $#*$=;", and I would never call him again nor recommend them to anyone. So me, at 59, my sister at 58, my 64 year old brother in law who just had back surgery, and my 80 year old neighbor did it ourselves. It took us a few days, but it's done. When people pay these price gougers, they continue to do it.

That was a week ago. Never heard back and no one showed up. Guess I will try one more time. Update... Called back and spoke to a new lady who was apologetic for the flakiness. Brandon came out for our scheduled appointment and was very friendly and had helpful info on our queen palms. We are going to wait and see how they do over the summer. He even attempted to take a small one up for us. On the phone, they said it would be $100 for the evaluation fee and ended up being charged an extra $3 for a "convenience processing fee" plus tax for a total of $111.25. Not that it is a huge amount extra, but it would have been nice if that was stated up front. Overall, I would deal with them again and see how things go.

Only a few days later he arrived with his crew right on time. They worked hard all day long on our two adjacent lots. They were friendly and efficient. They appreciate kolaches. They removed what we thought was a tremendous amount of material, and both properties were completely cleaned up by the end of the day. I did ~$8K worth of work with this company. From the beginning I clearly stated that my goal (and…read moreneed to clear and stump grind all trees) was in order to build a fence. Despite that, we got to two trees in the back and they said it was "not included". I took them at their word and paid the additional fees to have those stumps grinded. The final dispute came up on a tree that should have been trimmed. As I mentioned, my goal was to clear the fence line and build a fence, however, they left a single branch which had grown over a telephone line. When I pointed it out to them, they said they would come back the next day and cut it. This never happened. I paid them in full, in good faith, (for tree trimming, stump grinding, and some landscaping) and they refuse to come back and finish the work without me paying an additional fee. At that point, I started seeing a pattern of them nickel and diming me and refuse to pay anymore, especially given this was initially requested as well as the amount of work done. They also left quite a bit of tree debris (haul away should have been included), and damaged the grading of my yard (they pulled the truck into the grass and left tire and trailer marks). My most recent requests to confirm and explain why there is an additional charge has gone without response. Unfortunately, I do not recommend this company.

However, that day my yard wasn't cut, nor did I receive any notification from V.A. Landscaping. I called multiple times on Friday morning but the provided number went to voicemail. I also tried texting, to no answer. When my texts were finally responded to, I was told they would also NOT be cutting my grass on Friday. When I asked why, I received another message stating that the yes, my yard would be cut that day and that the previous text was an error. ‍ When they did arrive, they cut my grass with a weed-eater instead of a mower so it was very uneven and much of the cut grass remained sitting in my yard. When I contacted VA Landscaping with my concerns, I was told my yard HAD to be cut with a weedeater because my grass was so high. This was absolutely not true (see picture below). I then asked for a discount or refund. Thats when my texts stopped being answered.
