An Angel Martinez came to our home and removed a tree; supposedly bought a new one to grow which never grew since May. It was being watered and cared for regularly!. For months, the phone number used for the transaction did not go through and there was no response. Beware of MTZ PROFESSIONAL TREE SERVICE LLC. If the owner wants to resolve this - they need to reach out to us not ignore us. We sent them photos of our $745 tree transaction and up to now crickets. So, we read the YELP reviews AFTER we hired Mr. Martinez. Then I was worried, and my husband was a bit upset. I was pulling for the crew so that I didn't have to hear it. But, the initial crew came out as planned and cut down both trees the same day. All three were polite and courteous, so they received free Starbucks just because of their professionalism. It was too late on that day to remove all of the limbs so they were to return the next day to complete the job, and also the stump grinder was to arrive that day also. And, he arrive to grind the stump as planned. I didn't know what to expect afterward, but I see that both trees are gone and there are mulch piles, I guess to fill in the space where the trees were removed. The only issue is that the stump should have been ground deeper to remove more of the root ball for future planting and to speed the root decay of the pre-existing trees. So, we will potentially have difficulty with tree replacements. Other than that observation, we do not have any complaints, and pricing was comparable to other service companies. I would suggest for the company, however, that they issue written estimates prior to service initiation to include payment requirements. I contracted MTZ for tree removal and stump grinding. +1 star that the tree got removed completely. This was scammy, unprofessional, and a shit show, A job that should take 1 day at most took 4 days - because of late arrival - and unprofessional-ism, Workers arrived late first day, arrived after 4pm on the Second day, even with Angel promising me my job will be priority on day 3, they still arrived late. Tree logs were left on the ground the first day. It seems multiple jobs are booked together so workers are sent to various sites on the same day, and your task will be done partly, leaving logs on the ground which could potentially trip people. At the end of the third day between 930pm and 2am i was hounded by phone calls, text messages, message from the app to make payment, which was totally unprofessional. On day 4, i visited the site (payment demand calls resumed at 630am) , to my dismay they left this huge stump with tree parts, huge mulch pile. I believe they tried to trick me the night before to pay so i won't notice the work was complete. Angel then tried to scam me by telling me to pay $150 to remove the mulch, this was the first time he brought it up, and i have seen this exact scammy behavior before on thumbtack - i was suprised and refused to make payment. The team doesn't understand the concept of done. Once Angel gets to a stage he starts arguing about getting paid. He has issues with several customers on thumbtack regarding payment before no sane person should want to pay for a half arsed job. If you ever work with him make sure there is a penalty for not finishing the work in allocated time, otherwise you will go through hell getting them to do any work. To be fair the work was maybe 90% done, 3days after it should have been completed, with so much unprofessionalism. This is the most unprofessional outfit that I have ever dealt with. Day 2 before the job was even finished Angel starts hounding me for money. Says he needs extra to grind a stump? I did not have a stump to grind! Evidently, this is an excuse he likes to use according to other reviews here. Late in the day, I went to check their work and they damaged my home. Angel was not going to tell me. Good thing I have before and after photos. I tried to work with him in getting the repairs completed, but he was too stupid to figure out that he was going to take a hit with an insurance claim. He wanted to have his uncle do the repairs! Now they owe me money for my repairs and his insurance will not cover damages under $5,000.00. I will be taking this to small claims court. Everything Deborah B. said in her review about this company is true. Jesus and Angel Martinez are Crooks. I am also taking them to small claims court and I will contact the state to revoke their license (that's if these crooks even have one). They cut a small tree and took a week after to remove the stump and they still have more stumps remaining (I have pictures to prove it). That's just the beginning, I hired them to doing a 160sqft walkway and grade a backyard and put down 2-3 yards of black star gravel. They only put down 1 yard and they tried laying down the pavement on saggy uncompacted ground and so I fired them. They took half of the money because Jesus begged me to give him more money because his mother "isn't doing well," so I felt sorry for him because we're all humans and now I'm left holding the bag. His brother, Angel, promised to compete the work the next they after I threatened to sue them and three days later he was still making up stories about accident/emergencies happening on his other worksites. If you are considering these guys please don't and don't fall for these scam stories.
