The owner is incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely enthusiastic. They let me fully nerd out over some skulls, which honestly made my day. You can tell there's real care and expertise behind everything in the shop. There was also a living dog and bearded dragon there that they let me pet. The plants are always healthy and beautiful, which isn't always easy to find in specialty spaces like this. The oddities themselves are high quality and thoughtfully curated. It can seem a little expensive at first, but the quality absolutely makes it worth it. I bought a heteropteryx bug today and it's stunning. Every visit makes me want more. My long-term goal is to fill my biology classroom with pieces like this, and this shop is pure inspiration. I purchased or won several over the years, at times paying more than an actual mount would cost, and have always had trouble getting the mounts in anyone's definition of a timely matter. I think the fastest I've ever got a mount was over 2 years. I realize they don't make cash off my DU contributions, but they signed up for that, they get the press, it's like paying for advertising. Great Basin has had two heads to mount, a mule deer buck and a bull elk. The deer they have had since 2006 and the elk since 2007. Anyone think that's long enough? I've been to the shop uncounted times and it's always another apology and a promise he'll get right on it. Joe is a really nice guy, but a horrible businessman. Take your business elsewhere!

I live out of state but, I have a relative that lives in Reno and made plans for Randy to sell the lock him of which he did! A week later, I flew into Reno and received the lock which was wrapped heavily and taped! I was very disappointed that the lock was nothing even close to the lock I needed! Over the next few weeks, I attempted to contact Randy by phone and text requesting a refund with no response! He finally texted me after I told him that I was going to leave a negative review and cursed me out! Be careful when dealing with Randy!
