The food at the restaurant was surprisingly great! They had a big menu, despite it being low season. When the restaurant wasn't open, the pool bar had everything else we needed. You had better practice your Portuguese before arriving. Besides the manager, who wasn't often available, the rest of the staff are non-English speakers. Generally, I would say that they were helpful. They were moderately friendly though, but it's hard to tell whether it had to do with the language barrier or attitudes. All things considered, this is a wonderful place to stay, the location is fantastic, and the food is great!

Worst excuse for a "resort" ever my family and i can't wait to leave. swim up bar was littered with…read morebeers and trash until 9pm. When i told a worker the bar was dirty she told me to just leave it there and that's where It stayed all day. I went out to the pool at 10 am and there wasn't a lounge chair in sight in the beach or pool. I'm wondering now what they do when everyone staying at this place want to lay by the pool. I had to drag a wooden bench to the side of the pool just so i didn't have to lay on the grass. When i asked the manager Lucia she didn't seem to care at all. I could understand if i came here off season but the summer has just started! This is absolutely unacceptable. Also, there's a jacuzzi on the top floor of the bar that has this yellow, disgusting water in it. I can understand if it's closed but at least drain the thing! There are much better resorts here that have better amenities and friendlier staff. My TV is only playing channels in black and white. Don't waste your money here

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Summerville and would strongly advise others to…read morestay away. I cannot properly review the hotel itself because, on two separate occasions, I was not allowed to stay due to mismanagement and poor communication. This was my first time in Brazil, and while the people have been amazing--including the front-line staff at Summerville--the management was absolutely terrible. I arrived in Brazil on 02/23/25, only to find that my reservation had been mistakenly booked for the previous day. The staff acknowledged the error and explained that they would have accommodated me if there had been availability, but unfortunately, there were no rooms left. I accepted the mistake, moved on to another hotel, and was advised to email the management to request an additional night either for free or at a heavily discounted rate. This is where the real issues began. I emailed a manager named Aline Alves, who responded the next day, stating that upper management would discuss the situation and follow up. That follow-up never happened. When it was time for me to return, I had no response from management and no hotel reservation. I called Summerville and spoke to a manager who assured me that a room was available and even quoted me a discounted rate. Trusting their word, I flew into Recife with my family--including an 8-month-old and a 3-year-old--drove an hour to the hotel, only to be told upon arrival that there was no reservation and no available rooms. This was beyond frustrating and completely unacceptable. It is clear that management does not communicate properly with their staff, nor do they keep their promises. I have traveled all over the world and have never experienced customer service this bad. If I could rate this hotel 0 stars, I would. The only reason I'm giving it 1 star is because the front-line staff were clearly embarrassed by the situation and tried to be helpful. However, no amount of courtesy from them can make up for the sheer incompetence of the management. Avoid this place at all costs!
